The Case of the Ghost Biker is a Crossover fanfiction between Sonic the Hedgehog and Scooby-Doo written by CVGW James.

During Sonic’s date with Amy Rose at Resort Town, they come across Scooby-Doo and Mystery Inc. After getting acquainted with each other, they hear from the town’s mayor Sticks the Badger that a mysterious creature known as the Ghost Biker is on the loose.

Can Team Sonic and Mystery Inc. stop him from causing further trouble?

The author released the first chapter on October 28th, 2021—although he thought it up as far back as 2019—and finished it on June 2nd, 2023, with a total of 16 chapters.

You can read it on FanFiction.Net here, or on DeviantArt here.

The Case of the Ghost Biker contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Lex Luthor, one of Superman’s greatest enemies, offers a limo service to Sonic and Amy’s date in this story’s second chapter.
    • Poison Ivy, another infamous DC antagonist, is simply looking after her sunflowers without causing any trouble in Chapter 8.
  • All There in the Manual:
    • The author confirms in the DeviantArt description of Chapter 8 that the old man yelling at Ghost Biker to keep it down is in fact Stan Lee.
    • If you’re wondering where Terobys came from and how Wonder Woman could tame him, he's a relative of Cerberus that Wonder Woman saved. This is all in the DeviantArt description of Chapter 10.
    • The bandicoot in Chapter 12 was meant to be Perci, but the character was left unnamed.
  • The Bait: Daphne is to be used as this to lure out the Ghost Biker in the gang’s second confrontation with him, given her history as the Damsel in Distress.
  • Big Bad: The Ghost Biker, of course. In true Scooby-Doo fashion, the main objective is to stop him from causing mayhem and figuring out who he really is.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall:
    • After Lex Luthor’s cameo in Chapter 2, Sonic remarks, "Just like that, our first cameo of the story’s out of the way".
    • During Batman’s cameo in Chapter 9, he says to Sonic, "This cameo can only be so long..."
  • Call-Back: Daphne mentions Shaggy and Scooby meeting the Goblin King in Chapter 5.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Sonic goes over not only his accomplishments in past Sonic adventures, but those of Mystery Inc. in Chapter 12.
  • Continuity Snarl: Daphne mentions Scooby and Shaggy meeting The Goblin King...but that film ended with Daphne, Velma and Freddy's memories being erased.
  • Cutaway Gag: Chapter 5 features a couple of flashbacks to past (non-canonical) events in the lives of both Sonic and Mystery Inc.
  • Dirty Coward: There was apparently an incident in one of Mystery Inc.’s past cases where Shaggy and Scooby were so scared that they abandoned the rest of the team. Fred doesn’t let them forget this in present day.
  • Expy: The author intended the Ghost Biker to be a parody of Marvel's Ghost Rider. Likewise, Manifesterio is a parody of Mephisto.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: While the Ghost Biker is the main villain of the story, Manifestrio had a hand in Steve Wilson's transformation into the Ghost Biker.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: Played With. Batman is said to be on vacation, but is still watching his enemies to make sure they’re not causing trouble.
  • Hey, That's My Line!: In Chapter 8, after Sonic says "looks like we really got a mystery on our hands", Fred retorts that that’s his catchphrase.
  • Hot Springs Episode: Chapter 12, appropriately titled "Poolside Hang-Out", consists of Team Sonic and Mystery Inc. chilling at Resort Town's swimming pool.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: The Ghost Biker uses these to overpower the military in the first chapter.
  • LOL, 69: Fred and Daphne, an Official Couple in this story specifically, stay in a hotel room called Room 69. This gets an in-universe laugh from Daphne.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: Although the story stars Sonic and Scooby-Doo characters, there are several cameos of various DC superheroes and villains.
  • Mr. Exposition:
    • Sticks the Badger is the one who tells Sonic, Amy, and Mystery Inc. about the Ghost Biker.
    • Sherriff Joe provides the Ghost Biker’s backstory.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: Sticks the Badger is the mayor of Resort Town.
  • Official Couple: This version of Sonic and Amy are in a relationship. Same goes for Fred and Daphne.
  • Original Character: The Ghost Biker, General Col O’Penning, Sherrif Joseph Strongheart, and Terobys are all characters created for the story that haven’t appeared in anything related to Sonic, Scooby-Doo, or DC.
  • Origins Episode: Chapter 9 describes the backstory of the Ghost Biker.
  • Punny Name: The general that appears in the first chapter is named General Col O’Penning. As in, Cold Opening.
  • Real After All: While Dr. Eggman is the Ghost Biker that's been attacking Resort Town, Sherriff Joe explains that the Ghost Biker is real.
  • The Reveal: The Ghost Biker's true identity is Dr. Eggman.
  • Sexy Discretion Shot: Fred and Daphne have offscreen sex in (where else?) Room 69.
  • Shout-Out: Sonic saying "golly gee" in Chapter 10 is said to be a reference to the character Shroomy in SMG4, a web series that the author is a huge fan of.
  • Signing Off Catchphrase: Naturally, the last line of dialogue in the story (before The Stinger) is Scooby-Doo howling "Scooby-Dooby-Doo!".
  • The Teaser: The first chapter shows the Ghost Biker causing mayhem before our heroes get involved, concluding with the story's title.
  • There Is Another: Sherriff Joe makes it clear that the Ghost Biker that the heroes have defeated and unmasked is not the same Ghost Biker that he knew when he was young.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: When he learns that Dr. Eggman did everything he did as the Ghost Biker to save his theme park Eggmanland, which is safe now, Sonic gives him a check to help him pay off the landowner's association.
  • Villain Opening Scene: Like with most Scooby-Doo incarnations, the story begins with the Monster of the Week—in this case, the Ghost Biker—committing his caper.
  • Villain Respect: In The Stinger, while Manifestrio is annoyed by Eggman's primary motive for the chaos he created as the Ghost Biker being for the sake of a theme park, he says it's a treat to see that there are good people on the planet... likely referring to Sonic giving Eggman the check.
  • Villains Out Shopping:
    • Poison Ivy is tending to her sunflowers in Chapter 8 without causing any trouble. The author has confirmed in the chapter’s DeviantArt description that she’s on vacation (albeit after breaking out of Arkham Asylum).
    • Dr. Eggman is also said to be on vacation while on his motorcycle, and unlike the Ghost Biker, he’s not using his motorcycle to terrorize people. Subverted when he turns out to be the Ghost Biker, but even then, he reveals that his true intentions were to save Eggmanland, which is a legitimate and safe theme park now.
