- It turns out even when in the A-listers, Star was never fond of Dash. He hits on her first as a ploy, then out of genuine interest, but she rebuffs him.
- Colette is this to Danny.
- Affectionate Nickname: The B-plot of this story is that Star tries to come up with one for Danny. She chooses "Danny-Boo".
- Amazon Chaser: Danny fawns over Star when she beats up Dash using her athletic skills.
- Attempted Homewrecker:
- Dash tries to steal Star from Danny by offering to let her back into the A-Listers if she agrees to date him. She wastes no time in rejecting him because she despised him from the very beginning.
- Colette is still this as she tries to get Danny to notice her by wearing a revealing bikini.
- The Atoner: Star is still this as she takes Danny on a date to the water park to make up for being rude to him during the last time they were there.
- Bookends: The first chapter begins and the last chapter ends with Danny resting his head on Star's lap as they share a kiss.

- Star admits to Dash she wouldn't date him even if she was still in the A-List since she didn't like him even then.

- Cerebus Retcon: In "Lucky in Love", when Sam dented a locker, crushed a napkin holder and broke off a piece of a mailbox, it was Played for Laughs. Here, it turns out her parents were sued for property damage over it and are very angry with their daughter.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Both Sam and Colette are this to Danny as they follow him and Star to the water park. Deconstructed as Sam’s inability to control her jealousy regarding Danny causes her parents to get sued for property damage when she lashes out, which they were NOT happy about.

- Dash hates that Star would rather date Danny than him and tries to break them up.
- Downplayed with Colette's admirers but they clearly don't like that she's ignoring them in favor of Danny.
- Deconstruction: Dash might be able to get away with his bullying at school because of favoritism but not in public places like Nasty Burger or Floody Waters, where his bullying and/or destruction of property lands him in serious trouble
- Disappointed in You: Sam's parents upon learning she damaged school property.

- Must Make Amends: Star's desire to go out at Floody Waters stems from how she was rude to Danny over a joke Paulina made about him not qualifying as a man in the canon episode "Lucky In Love" and so she can forgive herself.
- Never My Fault: Tucker gets into trouble at Floody Waters for harassing girls he was trying to hit on and blames Sam for it. She rightfully points out it was his own doing.
- Not Distracted by the Sexy: Colette wears a very revealing bikini to impress Danny...but he's too unimpressed with her wretched attitude to be attracted.
- Not Good with Rejection: Dash tries to get violent with Star when she both hits him and turns him down for a date.

- Swirlie: In the epilogue, Irving Burns threatens to ban Dash from Nasty Burger for life if he keeps "giving teens swirlies in the bathroom".

- Colette is too much of an annoying asshole for Danny to feel attracted to her even when she’s wearing inappropriate swim wear.
- Star found Dash too unbearable to go out with even when she was in the A-List with him.
- Unwanted Harem: Colette has nothing but disdain for the boys she attracts at the water park with her beauty since she only wants Danny's attention.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: Star has no problem beating up Dash for harassing her and Danny at the water park.
