Fanfic / Eevee Therapy for Little Magi

Go To

Eevee Therapy for Little Magi is a fanfic by Tale Swapper and Miho Chan, and is a crossover between Fate/stay night and Pokémon.

After Alaya tries to mess around with one of Arceus' children (implied to be the Hero of Hisui) on of her boons, the Pokémon deity responds by transporting Shirou, Rin, Sakura, Ilya, and Kiritsugu to his world, both in the hopes of letting them all live happier lives and to teach Alaya a lesson.

It can also be found here.

Tropes in this story include:

  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul:
    • Shirou and Ilya never end up developing a Cain and Abel relationship, after Shirou unintentionally reveals that Kiritsugu never stopped trying to get back to Germany to see his daughter. They instead start working toward being true siblings.
    • As a corollary to the above, Ilya also loses all respect for the rest of the Einzbern family when she realizes they kept Kiritsugu from reuniting with her, and makes plans to kill them if she gets back home.
    • Rin and Sakura rekindle their family bond after being thrown into the Pokémon world as well.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Shirou lacks Avalon within, and thus the healing it provides, due to it being taken from him, thanks to Arceus extracting it from him. It is stated that Avalon will be returned to Shirou later.
  • Adaptation Amalgamation: The story incorporates elements from the entire Pokémon franchise as opposed to just one continuity.
    • Ash is alluded to, with Chapter 5 reveals that the Fate cast start their adventures the very same day he begins his journey. Additionally, in an example of amalgamating dubs, his full name is Satoshi "Ash" Ketchum.
    • The Hero of Hisui from Pokémon Legends: Arceus briefly shows up in one of Shirou and Ilya's chapters, and reveals that she is also a faller. It's also revealed that them being a time traveler is common knowledge at this point. In fact, Arceus' comments imply that the reason he yoinked Shirou, Rin, Sakura, Ilya, and Kiritsugu from Alaya is because the latter tried to turn said Hero into a Counter Guardian. In addition, both the Diamond and Pearl clan are still extant, and the unique Pokémon species introduced in the game are present in modern Sinnoh.
  • Ascended Extra: Dark Sakura goes from being a Heaven's Feel-exclusive corrupted version of Sakura to be Sakura's split personality, and regularly features in the chapter's from the purplette's point of view. She eventually has her soul transferred into a stillborn Pokémon egg and becomes Sakura's Zorua.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Alaya (the collective will of humanity) decided to try and mess with the Hero of Hisui, despite knowing they are The Chosen One for Arceus (the creator of the entire Pokémon universe). His comments imply she has done something like this twice before. This time, however, Arceus had enough, and promptly claims the main human cast of stay Night as a punishment. Arceus remarks that Alaya has a bad habit of this, as frequently picking fights with Gaia have caused her plenty of problems.
  • Cutting Off the Branches: Chapter 3 confirms that Akari is the Hero of Hisui, meaning the female protagonist for Pokémon Legends: Arceus is, within this story, the canon option.
  • Dark Secret: All evidence relating to the existence of Moureon, a ghost-type eeveelution, are deliberately kept hidden because they invariably involve the Eevee dying and the league agreed this was too cruel to allow anyone to replicate it.
  • Death by Adaptation: Arceus' comments indicate that him moving Sakura to the world of Pokémon and killing the main crest worm in her killed off Zouken. invokedWord of God indicated that Zouken might still be alive for now, but will definitely be gone by the time the Fate cast get back home, if they return home.
  • The Dragonslayer: Apparently, the heir to the Rockerfaller family had to go out and slay a dragon-type Pokémon before being taught the family magic. This eventually caused the family to die out when their last heir who wasn't disowned got killed hunting a Druddigon and their other kids refused to come back into the fold. Additionally, hunting and killing a sapient being did not endear the family to others.
  • Expy: Both of Shirou's Pokémon, Ritsuka and Yagi, are Expies from other series; Ritsuka of the selfsame character from Fate/Grand Order and Yagi of Might Guy of Anime/Naruto.
  • Fantasy Gun Control: Averted. Guns are still in use, though there are normal gun control laws in place. The police have access to guns, and laws don't prevent terrorists like Team Flare from using them. All the better for Kiritsugu to still be able to make use of his sniper skills.
  • Generational Magic Decline: Downplayed in that the decline isn't because The Magic Goes Away, but the prevalence of inherently mystical Pokémon resulted in most Magi in the world of Pokémon eventually shifting over to using said creatures for tasks they could train for themselves. Thus, mages are practically extinct there, aside from a few who still carry on old traditions.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Downplayed and eventually defied with Rin - while she initially has trouble with using a computer, she's gotten over it after a few months in the Pokémon world due to taking plenty of time to understand it. She goes so far as to start experimenting with Magitech. She also proves to be very susceptible to memes, to her own horror.
  • Kid Hero: Shirou, Illya, Rin, and Sakura are around 10 to 11 years old when Arceus sent them to the Pokémon world.
  • Killing Intent: Ilya emits a palpable aura of menace when she makes plans to kill her grandfather after realizing that he lied about her father abandoning her. Professor Caroline explicitly refers to said aura as such, admits it's impressive for a young child to be able to create such an effect, and chastises Ilya for scaring her brother and their Eevees with said field.
  • Lethal Chef: The story makes it abundantly clear that the main reason Shirou became such a good cook is because Kiritsugu is a terrible one - he once managed to burn water. He manages to burn down down a building while trying to use a microwave in Chapter 10.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Shirou's Eeveelution is the Dragon-type Wyrmeon (created explicitly for this story), which is implied to be a reference to how Saber/Artoria is part dragon. That is it able to gender bend seems to be a nod to Artoria being a genderswapped King Arthur.
    • One of Misora's Pokémon is a Mega Evolution-capable Lopunny named Astolfo.
  • Multiverse: Along with the Fate universe and the Pokémon universe existing, Arceus also mentions the Mushroom Kingdom before driving Alaya off.
  • Original Generation: Shirou's Eevee, Ritsuka, evolves into an original, Dragon-type form called Wyrmeon. Other original Eeveelutions that appear are the Normal-type Primeon and the Ghost-type Moureon.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: As noted by invokedWord of God, Alaya isn't actually sapient as humans define the term, and shouldn't have been able to talk to Arceus in the manner that happened in the prologue. But that wouldn't have been as funny, so her characterization is much more human in this story than in canon.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Ilya hasn't ever had to deal with money before on account of living in a Gilded Cage, so she's understandably unhappy when she has to adopt a budget as a trainer. Rin is a downplayed example, as she has had to deal with money problems because Kirei mismanaged all of her family assets for shits and giggles, but she still has trouble not wanting to buy gems she cannot afford for her magic.
  • Seen It All: The Pokémon world is filled with weirdness, to the point that many things which seem impossible to us are commonplace there.
    • People ending up in the Pokémon world from other universes is apparently common enough that there's actually a term for them - fallers. Even worse, Fallers with meta-knowledge of the Pokémon universe have shown up and caused chaos often enough for those individuals to get a reputation for being stupid and dying quickly
    • The sheer absurdity of the powers some Pokémon has further made people desensitized to how weird some things can get - the Hero of Hisui is openly known to be a time traveler, with a dedicated tag on the local Pokémon chat equivalent.
    • Sinnoh has this more than most other regions; outsiders are shocked at their nonchalant acknowledgment to the Space-Time Distortions which still rarely pop up in the Coronet Highlands.
  • The Slow Path: Akari had the chance to be sent straight back to her original time, but she chose to give it to Ingo. Arceus made her immortal, so she caught up with Ingo eventually. There's a reason her chat handle is "Walked500Years."
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Due to being taken to the Pokémon world, the medical care Kiritsugu receives actually manages to purge him of the Grail curse that would normally kill him in Fate/stay night's backstory.
  • Technology Marches On: invokedWithin the confines of the story, Kiritsugu is left floored by how advanced mobile phones and the Internet are in the Pokémon World, especially since one photo from a phone can instantly be put on the internet.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted after removing Sakura's heart worm and hearing about Magus culture, Professor Juniper insists on both Sakura and Rin seeing therapists. Sakura is very happy to work with hers, though Rin rejects the help, and according to the therapist in question, she doesn't seem to need it.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: There are three distinct plotlines, two of them with more focus than the others. There is Shirou and Illya's journey through Sinnoh, Rin and Sakura's journey through Unova, and Kiritsugu hunting down Team Flare in Kalos as a hired gun for Interpol.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Akari gets called out by just about everyone she knows, human and Pokémon alike, for having a Secret Test of Character with seemingly life or death stakes sprung on Shirou without warning or consideration for any traumas she may be stepping on.
