Beast Wars: Friendship is Magic is a crossover Fanfiction co-written by Unknown Nemesis and KingOfMyOneTrueWorld, but is posted on the shared account, Firaeveus Myr.

The plot details a retelling of Beast Wars, but rather than crash landing on Earth, the Maximals and Predacons land in the magical world of Equestria, where their war continues.

The story can be found here. Unfortunately, the link is now nonfunctional. (Alternate link to FiMFetch).

Also, the story features illustrations done by the author's brother, StealRehn.

This Fanfic includes examples of:

  • Action Girl: The Mane 6 are an ensemble representation of this, being able to throw down with the Predacons along with their Maximal allies.
  • Action Prologue: The story opens with a space battle over Equus.
  • Adaptation Name Change: To all the Transformers (sans Optimus and Megatron), due to them acquiring new beast modes in Equestria.
    • Rattrap became Paragon after scanning a diamond dog.
    • Cheetor became Blitz Streak after scanning a pegasus.
    • Rhinox became Stronghold after scanning a buffalo
    • Dinobot became Ragnarok after scanning a draconequus.
    • Scorponok became Steeljaws after scanning a cragadile.
    • Terrorsaur became Razorwing after scanning a changeling.
    • Waspinator became Roosternator after scanning a cockatrice. It was originally Wyvernator, but it was overruled by Megatron.
    • Tarantulas became Dementia after scanning a zebra.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Scorponok/Steeljaws. In the original show, Scorponok lacked any defining traits, aside from his loyalty to Megatron. Steeljaws, however, not only retains the loyalty of his counterpart, but he's a firm, competent mesh of The Dragon and The Brute.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • In the show, Scorponok was a dim-witted but loyal soldier who lacked any focus. Steeljaws, on the other hand, is given his own introductory chapter where he kills a cragadile with one hand! In addition, he's capable of going toe to toe with the more physically imposing members of the Maximals, as well as withstanding a shitload of damage that his show counterpart would have fallen to.
    • Tarantulas was a mediocre hand-to-hand fighter in the show, always more suited for ranged combat and relying on his gadgets. The story version, however, is far more capable of taking other Transformers, even being among the most agile and difficult to land a blow on.
    • The Mane 6 themselves are much more strong-willed and capable of defending themselves against the Predacons. Justified as the Predacons aren't all that big, compared to their ancestors.
  • Adaptational Villainy: While the Predacons in the show were by no means nonthreatening, the Predacons are given an extra dose of dread and they come off as a more efficient fighting force.
    • Megatron. While his personality is more or less the same, the story portrays him as a much more ruthless villain, as well as a more formidable opponent for the Maximals to take down.
      • He murders two of Garble's gang without even trying, for slightly irritating him. He would have killed them all had Garble not pleaded to help Megatron, and because he was low on reliable troops at the moment.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: The Predacons, as in their home series, seek to conquer the world they landed on. This time around, the world in question is Equestria.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Megatron takes this to a whole new level with his goals of tyranny.
  • An Arm and a Leg: True to the original show, the Transformers, particularly Roosternator, lose limbs in battle fairly often. But since they have restoration chambers, it's not always a big deal.
  • Answer Cut: In "Places Like These," when Paragon inquires where he can stay for the night:
Paragon: Is there no other place for me to go?
    Rainbow Dash: Well...
    (cut)
Pinkie Pie: So let me get this straight: There are two factions of robots that were battling in space and during said battle, they crashed, and both of them landed in Equestria and now the two factions are trying to regroup so they can continue their epic battle of good vs evil, and now two of the robots on the good faction have been discovered, and you're asking for my help so we can all help save the world! Am I right? I'm right, right?! Please tell me I'm right!
  • Arm Cannon: As opposed to the original show, where physical firearms were used, some of the Maximals and Predacons utilize such weapons here.
  • Ascended Extra: Cyberbee. In the show, they were mere drones Scorponok utilized for surveillance or for transferring viruses. In the story, Cyberbee is a full-fledged Mini-Con, partnered with Dementia, and has a sadistic streak.
  • Bad Boss: Megatron isn't the most pleasant person to work with, nor does he particularly care about his troops unless they're useful to him.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: "Dawn of War (Part 3)" ends with Megatron tricking Primal into staying in robot mode long enough for him to forcefully convert back to beast mode, and call a retreat.
  • Badass Bookworm: Twilight Sparkle and this was before the events of the story even began!
    • To a lesser extent, so are Optimus Primal and Stronghold. The former's a military veteran-turned scientist, the latter's a spiritual guide who packs the biggest punch of the team.
  • Battle Cry:
    • "Maximize!" for the Maximals.
    • "Terrorize!" for the Predacons.
  • Benevolent Boss:
    • Well, this is Optimus we're talking about here.
    • Surprisingly enough, Dementia. He and Cyberbee have an affable relationship and even acts as a mentor to the little creep.
  • Big Bad: The main antagonist is Megatron, of course.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Queen Chrysalis has been teased to become part of one, in "Coming of the Flyers."
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In "Dawn of War: Part 2," when Megatron is threatening to smash Mayor Mare, the Maximals intervene just in time.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Volume 1 ends with the Maximals being welcomed into Equestria, as well as making friends out of the Elements of Harmony, but Megatron is still at large and is guaranteed to return.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Transformers definitely aren't typical robots. They have lifeblood, the equivalent to a heart, spiritual beliefs, and a capacity for emotions.
  • Blade Lock: Optimus Primal and Megatron in their first battle in "Dawn of War (Part 2)."
  • Blood Knight: Ragnarok enjoys a good scrap every now and then, much like his canon counterpart.
  • A Boy and His X: Plenty of examples exist in which a Maximal acts as one of the Mane 6's personal guardians.
    • Rainbow Dash and Blitz Streak share a relationship akin to that of two mischievous siblings.
    • Pinkie Pie and Paragon.
    • Fluttershy and Stronghold.
    • Twilight Sparkle and Optimus Primal.
  • Brawler Lock: Steeljaws and Stronghold in their first bout in "Dawn of War (Part 2)."
  • Bullying a Dragon: Quite literally for Megatron when Garble and his gang have the gall to try and threaten him. It doesn't end well for them.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Roosternator can't seem to catch a break.
  • By the Power of Grayskull!!: The Maximals and Predacons shout their activation codes to transform, but it's subverted considerably in the story itself.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Megatron stole the Golden Disk before the events of the story, but now that they've been led to Equestria, and not Earth as they'd intended, it seems to have been forgotten for the time being. It's unknown if it'll turn up again at this time, possibly making this a subversion.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Once again, the only bot that Megatron can rely on is Steeljaws.
  • Crossover: Between Beast Wars and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Plenty of examples.
    • The teen dragons suffer from this often. First, they get their tails handed to them by Megatron, then they're easily warded off by the ponies, and finally wind up as the Maximals' punching bags.
    • The Royal Guard unit sent to guard Ponyville has a very unfortunate run-in with the Predacons. The aftermath is discovered in "Dawn of War (Part 3)."
  • A Day in the Limelight: The majority of the Maximals and Predacons are given their own introductory chapters to establish their personalities and traits.
    • "First Awakening": Paragon.
    • "New Flyer... Sort Of": Blitz Streak.
    • "Subjugating the Locals": Megatron.
    • "Jaws of Steel": Steeljaws.
    • "The Warrior": Ragnarok.
    • "Coming of the Flyers": Razorwing and Roosternator.
    • "Something Wicked": Dementia and Cyberbee.
    • "Executive": Stronghold.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Plenty of characters, but Paragon fits the trope like a glove given that he's this story's version of Rattrap.
  • The Dragon: Steeljaws is Megatron's most loyal soldier—and the strongest.
  • Ensemble Cast: The Maximals and the Mane 6 are the main protagonists.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • Paragon awakens in the diamond dog mines, and not only does he make rude, sarcastic remarks to the three leaders, he defeats all of them—soldiers included—with nothing but his detonators.
    • Megatron scans a dragon mode and his first action is to arrogantly humor the teenage dragons' attempts to threaten them. And then he butchers two of them, firmly establishing his role as the Big Bad.
    • Steeljaws is attacked by a local cragadile. What's his response? To rip the reptile off of him and break its neck with one hand.
    • Ragnarok challenges Megatron to a battle for leadership over the Predacons.
    • Razorwing pridefully boasts about his new form, then kills two changeling soldiers for fun.
    • Roosternator bumbles around before defeating a local cockatrice, while suffering from shenanigans and slapstick humor.
    • Cyberbee intimidates Zecora and boasts about his sociopathic tendencies, relishing in the slaughter of Everfree animals.
    • Dementia massacres a whole swath of Everfree creatures—as a rabbit!
    • Stronghold stops a runaway cart and humbly accepts the praise awarded to him, as well as politely inquiring about his whereabouts.
    • Optimus Primal emerges from his pod and willingly answers the princesses' questions, understanding their skepticism.
  • Evil Laugh: Many Predacons qualify under this, but Megatron and Dementia in particular really take the cake.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: What did you expect when going into a story titled Beast Wars: Friendship is Magic?
  • Family-Unfriendly Death: This ain't no kids fic.
    • "Subjugating the Locals" has Megatron tearing Clumps head off of his body and splatters Vex's brains all over the wall.
    • Steeljaws breaks a cragadile's neck in "Jaws of Steel."
    • The Royal Guard ponies guarding Ponyville meet a painful end at the hands of the Predacons in "Dawn of War (Part 3)."
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Plenty of battles between the Transformers wind up being this.
  • Healing Vat: The Maximals and Predacons each have their own, and for good reason—they get blown up quite frequently.
  • Jerkass: Don't expect Megatron to be offering his hand of friendship anytime soon... or ever.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Steeljaws due to being a cragadile and having the strongest bite out of all the Predacons.
    • Razorwing's wings can function as buzzsaws while in robot mode.
    • Roosternator, because he's a cockatrice (which is half rooster).
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Roosternator isn't very malicious, compared to his comrades.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: In this story, Megatron is a dragon right from the get-go, making this trope more literal for the character.
  • Reptiles Are Abhorrent: Megatron, Steeljaws, and partly Ragnarok due to being a draconequus.
  • Sealed Cast in a Multipack: The Maximals and Predacons are offline, trapped in their escape pods for a good portion of the beginning.
  • Smug Snake:
    • Megatron is probably the biggest example, but he's one of the few capable of backing up his talk.
    • Razorwing is more downplayed, but he thinks that he's big enough to take down Megatron.
  • The Starscream: Razorwing, though this shouldn't come as a surprise given that he's Terrorsaur with a new alt-mode.
  • Tempting Fate: Characters tend to do this a little too often.
    • In Dawn of War, Part 2, Pinkie tries to assure Paragon that things will get better... just as the Predacons attack.
  • Verbal Tic: Megatron's "Yes/No" habit is back, full force.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Megatron for the former and Roosternator for the latter.
  • Villain Episode: Plenty of chapters center around the Predacons.
