Izuku wasn’t supposed to be here yet.

It was April.

He was supposed to be born in July.

All For You is an Alternate Universe Fic from My Hero Academia written by GinkoTracks. The story focuses on All For One as he deals with the gravity of his first child being born prematurely along with losing his wife Inko.

All For You provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: All For One mentions how he and Yoichi grew up with parents who did the bare minimum in caring for them and were neglectful alcoholics. It's another reason as to why he wants to be a better parent for his son.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In Chapter 83, another Hero Commission meeting is held which is attended by Endeavor, Selkie and Lady Nagant.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Played with. All For One is still the Number One Villain and his past crimes have not been diminished. But he shows genuine love and affection to Izuku, especially given the critical circumstances of his birth. He even goes as far as to give All Might information about all of his future operations to show that he won't pursue further villainous activity on the grounds of keeping his son safe.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • All For One and Inko were lovers and their union would result in the genesis of Izuku.
    • AFO is also well acquainted with the Bakugous.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mitsuki refers to AFO as "Hicchan".
  • Age Lift: Downplayed. Izuku is born several months earlier than intended, making him older than Katsuki.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In Chapter 81, All For One returns to Izuku's room to find his incubator box empty. This leaves the new father with dread over the possibility that his second surgery resulted in his death. But then Nurse Anda shows up to inform him that he's in recovery and the surgery was a success.
  • Batman Gambit: In Chapter 79, All For One manages to keep and use his stolen Quirks by asserting that All Might or the Hero Commission were unable to identify or stop him for countless years, thus it would be utter humiliation for them if this knowledge became public.
  • Bird People: Megumi Ito is half cockatoo and half social worker who's assigned to Izuku's case.
  • Bringing in the Expert: Nezu gets called in to help with verifying that All For One's information in regards to his bases and operations were properly managed.
  • Character Development: All For One undergoes a marvelous change in character as his time worrying for the health and future of his newborn child along with being around good-natured people who want to help him break away his selfish and sinister ideologies.
  • Cooldown Hug: Nurse Anda gives a hug to All For One after informing him that Izuku's second surgery was a success which leaves the father as an emotional mess.
  • Death by Adaptation: Inko passed away due to preeclampsia and birthing complications.
  • Department of Child Disservices:
    • Subverted with Megumi Ito. She only wants to ensure Izuku's safety and is willing to support All For One's custody battle on the condition that he isn't a serious threat to the boy.
    • The Hero Public Safety Commission, however, shows shades of this with Izuku's case. After hearing of All For One's desire to have absolute custody of his boy after his retirement, they consider creating a specialized facility for Izuku right alongside Tartarus where they want to send him.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Even after learning about his true self and his endless crimes, Mitsuki Bakugou does not hold back in reprimanding All For One for what he did behind her best friend's back and how he needs to step up as a better father.
  • Didn't Think This Through: All Might comes up with the idea of claiming custody of the baby so All For One doesn't get to raise him. His friends openly bring up Izuku's poor health condition and if the Number One Hero will have the time and patience to actually raise the boy and handle his medical treatments all while balancing his own hero lifestyle. That's not even getting into how All For One would react to this attempt.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Izuku was born with congenital heart defect which is the source of his hospitalization. Four years into the future, he's diagnosed with cerebral palsy spastic diplegia and uses crutches to move around.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After ongoing operations and difficult negotiations, All For One succeeds in gaining custody of a healthier Izuku and is allowed to watch him grow up.
  • Enemy Mine: Realizing that he needs a high ranking hero to support his case, Hisashi ends up asking his archnemesis All Might for help.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: All For One shows genuine grief over Izuku's hospitalized status along with sorrow over losing his beloved wife.
  • Everyone Laughs Ending: The story ends with All Might and Gran Torino laughing at an unamused Hisashi who's drenched in peanut butter and chocolate sauce thanks to his baby boy. It even cuts to the Realm of One for All where all the past holders join in the laughter and joke that they should have used toddlers drenched in food to defeat him years ago.
  • Failed a Spot Check: During their first meeting at Tanima Memorial, All For One informs his nemesis that Kotaro Shimura was potentially abusive towards his family. To All Might's regret, he did nothing with this information despite going to check on the Shimuras while putting them aside to deal with the negotiation meetings.
  • Foregone Conclusion: The author has openly stated that they disliked tragic endings so you won't expect anything tragic happening to All For One or his son.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode:
    • In Chapter 55, we get to hear Baby!Izuku's thoughts as he's being held by his dad.
    • Chapter 57 is another "Call" Chapter, but as a twist, it's from Nao Shimura calling All Might to help her find her runaway children.
    • In the end notes of Chapter 77, there's a scene involving Yoichi and Nana as they spectate the former's brother as he speaks to his ill child.
  • Friend to All Children: Toshinori has a soft spot for children and has visited many hospitals to cheer up the little ones. It's also the reason why he struggles to deal with All For One's situation as he only wants what is best for the baby.
  • The Gadfly: While he does want complete custody of his child, AFO still can't help himself by pushing all of All Might's buttons causing him to act out in righteous rage.
  • Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand: The Bakugous have different approaches when dealing with All For One. Masaru is the Gentle Hand as he offers kind words to the supervillain while assuring him that it's okay to make mistakes as long as he's willing to try and be better. Mitsuki is the Firm Hand as she gives serious scoldings over his past as a monster while reminding him that everything he should be doing should be for the benefit of his son and Inko, not him.
  • Give Him a Normal Life: Even though All For One is close to giving up his criminal empire, he at least wants to ensure that his son will grow up living a happy and peaceful life.
  • Go Through Me: During the first confrontation at the hospital, All For One warns All Might that the only way he'll get to his premature son is when AFO dies.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Hisashi ends up developing envy over the Bakugous being successful with their newborn son in comparison to his situation.
  • Happy Flashback: In Chapter 15, All For One remembers when Inko was alive and presented a new blanket for Izuku with his name embroidered.
  • Hero Antagonist: All Might and his friends are presented as antagonists who struggle to accept that All For One has a child he genuinely loves and are looking for ways to take him down without casualties.
  • History Repeats: While helplessly watching his child in his incubator, Hisashi recalls his own brother Yoichi who was hospitalized and weak when he was a baby.
  • Honorary Uncle: Just like in canon, Mitsuki and Masaru are regarded as Izuku's auntie and uncle. Later on, a 4-year-old Izuku refers to All Might as his uncle.
  • I Regret Nothing: All For One informs Mitsuki that he doesn't regret what he did to survive the past 150 years.
  • If I Do Not Return: Hisashi asks Masaru that he and his wife take care of Izuku in the event that he's no longer able to raise for his own son.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Izuku is destined to grow up Quirkless.
  • The Insomniac: Hisashi has been neglecting his sleep so he can stay close to Izuku as long as possible. This in turn has caused him to grow increasingly tired while seeing hallucinations.
  • Irony:
    • All For One, one of the strongest men in the world with absolute control over everything in his life, is now at the mercy of his weak newborn baby.
    • Gran Torino mentions how it's unfair that Nana had to lose her child while her murderer gets to keep his.
  • It Amused Me: All For One initially began looking for romantic pursuits to alleviate his boredom. He never expected to be in a serious relationship with Inko.
  • Karma Houdini: The King of Villains tries to invoke this during the first negotiations meeting in Chapter 43. He openly points out that his "forced retirement" would mean that he shouldn't have to do jailtime while keeping total custody of Izuku.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: In Chapter 79, All For One's consequences result in the following: he'll stay at a HSPC monitored location and wear a tracker, he'll surrender all his blood money and any information relating to the underground villain system, his Quirk levels will be frequently monitored, an escort will accompany him anytime he needs to leave and with the approval of the heroes, and he'll provide repatriation of Quirks to those who were alive and want them back.
  • Keeping the Enemy Close: Lady Nagant suggests an extra condition where All For One would be obligated to work for the Hero Public Safety Commission once Izuku becomes of age so they can use his Quirks and field experience to their advantage. This condition is what seals the deal and allows All For One to win custody.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Hisashi chuckles over Mitsuki's newborn son having inherited her hair and temperament.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Although Inko knew that Hisashi was a villain, she never learned that he was THE Number One Villain in Japan. The Bakugous themselves never knew about Hisashi's criminal lifestyle until Izuku's birth.
  • Loophole Abuse: Upon discovering that Izuku also shares the same DNA as All Might and Nana Shimura by the power of One For All, All Might comes up with the idea of claiming custody of the child as his familial relative. He eventually settles for being allowed to periodically check on Izuku as his sponsorship allows him to make reasonable conditions that All For One must follow.
  • Love Redeems: A major crux of this story involves All For One willingly surrendering his legacy of evil after coming to love his premature son and wanting nothing more then to be by his side as he grows up.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: AFO is 150 years old while Inko showed interest in him when she was 21. Mitsuki is grossed out by the implications.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: All For One reacts this way after he comes dangerously close to giving Izuku a healing Quirk and learning from Dr. Sanuki that giving a premature baby a Quirk is a really bad idea.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The Emperor of Quirks explains to Mitsuki that there's a high chance Izuku will turn out Quirkless since his own Quirk is from the first generation.
    • All For One is in possession of a Quirk that can shoot a laser beam from his belly button.
      • He also reveals that he has the Decay Quirk.
    • There are a few references to All Might wanting to "bash All For One's face in" throughout Chapter 51.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Tanima Memorial is named after Minako Tanima who was the daughter of high ranking villain. When she died after the medical staff turned her away because of her "villainous" lineage, the memorial was created to ensure that such an inhuman decision never occur again.
  • The Needs of the Many:
    • Nezu insists that the heroes give All For One a chance to redeem himself if he's serious about giving up villainy for the sake of his son as doing so is the best outcome with minimal casualties.
    • All Might himself comes to accept this thinking after seeing how much All For One has changed and how it can guarantee a safer future for Japan.
  • The Neutral Zone: All For One's newborn is taken care of at Tanima Memorial. Sir Nighteye explains that the site has strict policies on keeping the identities of their patients (particularly of villains and their family members) a total secret from Pro Heroes or law enforcement. Additionally, any visiting villains who seek sanctuary in it's rehabilitation program cannot be arrested on the condition that they aren't presented as a serious threat.
  • No Sympathy: Gran Torino and Nighteye have no sympathy for Tanima Memorial or the families involved in their services. Gran even questions why they'd allow All For One's spawn to still be alive.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Sir Nighteye reacts this way after a notification informs him about All For One's presence at the Musutafu General Hospital.
    • All For One gets this when a social worker appears admitting to have discovered his true identity.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • All Might's fury at his hated foe starts comes into conflict when he sees the calm and menacing monster act completely docile while interacting with his son. It comes as an even bigger shock when All For One willingly handwrites him information relating to Tenko Shimura, the Nomus and his trusted ally Dr. Ujiko allowing the hero to foil his schemes if he wishes to.
    • It comes as another shock to him in Chapter 79 when All For One shows up to the next negotiation meeting completely miserable and willing to accept the terms of the HPSC with little arguments.
  • Original Character: Tanima Memorial features various medical staff that partake in Izuku's treatments while consoling Hisashi throughout his custody hearings.
  • Powerful and Helpless: For all the Quirks and influence he carries, All For One proves ultimately useless in saving his wife or helping his premature child.
  • Prayer Is a Last Resort: All For One never considered himself a religious man, unless it was to refer to himself as a god among men. But he resorts to praying to every god in existence after Izuku is admitted for his second surgery while Dr. Sanuki informs him to "prepare for the worst".
  • Premature Birth Drama: The overarching Story Arc focuses on Izuku's birth at only 26 weeks leaving him in a critical condition while his father can do nothing but rely on others for his survival.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Heavily downplayed. When he was dating Inko and prepared to have her child, All For One shifted his crimes to less-then-serious cases such as fraud, corporate espionage and bribery.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Mitsuki gives a brutal one to All For One after he states that he plans to turn himself in to Tartarus for Izuku's safety.
Mitsuki: "You’re not doing the right thing, you’re doing the easy thing! You feel bad for almost fucking up, you feel guilty because you were a fucking monster , but instead fucking facing it or making it better, you just decide to run away! It’s a lot fucking easier to sit in time out till you croak than it is to learn what you did wrong and fucking fix it . You're a fucked up person, Hisashi, a really fucked up person , but you're not completely irredeemable. Giving up on your own damn kid because you can’t stop throwing a tantrum long enough to put your fucking ego away for five minutes would push you over that edge. Cause guess what? This isn’t about you anymore. Maybe for the first time in your stupidly long life, it isn’t fucking about you . It’s about Izuku, and right now, he needs his fucking FATHER . Grow the hell up, Hisashi."
  • Regretful Traitor: All For One agrees to sell out his oldest ally Dr. Garaki if it means getting to stay by Izuku's side. But to sell out his villainous compatriot would be another act of stepping away from his hard-earned empire of evil.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Izuku is the biological son of the Emperor of Quirks.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Nezu recounts a tale to All Might and his entourage about a past C-Tier villain who went on a bloodthirsty rampage after her son was taken away by social services. Nezu uses this tale to warn them that the same thing could happen to All For One if he's separated from his child.
  • Sadistic Choice: Megumi provides a non-malicious one to All For One. If he poses no serious threat to his newborn and is willing to give up his legacy and future schemes as the King of Villains, then he'll be allowed to keep the boy. But if not, she'll be forced to take him away.
  • Sleep Aesop: Invoked in Chapter 36. Dr. Sanuki gives a firm lecture to Hisashi on the importance of sleep and how self-destructive it is for him not to sleep. She even warns him that Izuku will pick up on his bad habits if he doesn't go to sleep and take care of himself.
  • So Proud of You: Hisashi says this to Izuku in Chapter 47 when the little tyke says his first sounds after finally being strong enough to not need a ventilator.
  • The Spook: Hisashi never created any official medical documentations for himself or his past family members.
  • Stress Vomit: All For One does this in Chapter 76 upon learning that Izuku will have to undergo another surgery to remove the diseased portions of his intestines.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Mitsuki shows this attitude to Hisashi after learning of his villainous past and how he lied to her best friend Inko. She makes it clear that he's broken her trust in him and that he'll have to work extra hard to earn it but she will stick around for the sake of her friend and hospitalized nephew.
  • Talking to the Dead: An ongoing element involves Hisashi calling his dead wife to tell her about their son's condition along with his own romantic feelings for her.
  • Tears of Joy: All For One sheds these in Chapter 24 after Izuku's first surgery turned out to be a success.
  • They Would Cut You Up: As much as Hisashi views Dr. Garaki as a reliable ally, he knows better than to send his premature child to him out of fear that the doctor would be unable to help his medical condition and would instead use the little tyke for unholy experiments.
  • Third-Party Peacekeeper: Nezu serves as the designated peacekeeper between All For One and the Heroes during their negotiations meetings.
  • This Cannot Be!: Toshinori and his friends react this way upon reading why All For One is in Tanima Memorial in the first place.
  • Time Skip: After Izuku's second surgery was a success, the Chapters that went on a day-by-day basis begin to skip several days. This is most evident in Chapter 92 where Izuku is now 4 years old.
  • Tragic Mistake: Because All For One never made any official documents for his civilian identity, the hospital flags his name as a forged identity which is then transmitted to the Hero Network and is picked up by Sir Nighteye.
  • Trauma Button: All For One is now triggered by the mention of contractions and birth. This is shown in Chapter 27 after Mitsuki mentions that she's ready to give birth.
  • Villain Has a Point: While arguing with All Might over how All For One chose to commit his crimes by himself, the retired villain points out he shouldn't be blamed for what Kotaro Shimura chose to do to his family.
  • Villain Protagonist: All For One is the star of the show as he deals with the ongoing hospitalization of his newborn child.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: All Might gets a serious reprimanding from Hana Shimura for his failure to protect her and her brother from their father's abuse despite being the Number One Hero.
  • What You Are in the Dark: All For One undergoes his hardest test of character in Chapter 69. As Izuku's Necrotizing Enterocolitis begins to worsen and places him closer to death, All For One considers giving him one of his many healing Quirks to ensure his recovery. He's seconds from placing his hand onto his son to begin the transfer... until he backs out to double check with his doctor who informs him of the potential consequences that could have resulted with the transfer.
  • Wrong Assumption: Toshinori initially believes that All For One is plotting something sinister at the hospital which is why he was there to begin with. Even upon seeing his son Izuku in an incubator, the Number One Hero assumes that he killed the baby's real parents and is using it as leverage against him.
