"Quest: Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation"
"Will you accept this Quest?"
[YES] [NO]
Chapter 1

A Game for the Fool begins with an old woman dying surrounded by family and passing on with no regrets. Then when she passes, she is given the option to reincarnate as the main character, Wei Wuxian of her grandniece's favorite series Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Considering her life was already over and she already said her goodbyes, she goes along with it. Only to wake up as the four-year old Wei Ying with the knowledge that he will die horribly at the hands of an unforgiving world. Wei Ying does everything in his limited power with some assistance from the System to avert his fate. Some with more success than others.

     Tropes A-C
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: At the ripe old age of 5 years old, Wei Wuxian creates his own industry, has an alliance with several small and rural sects and has an independent spy network. Which he still runs in secret well into his teenage years.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Wei Ying inherited his mother's donkey which has the graceful name of Donkey.
  • Ability Required to Proceed: The System locks Wei Wuxian out of going near the Burial Mounds as he neither strong enough or near the plot to survive it
  • Accidental Discovery: Due to being barely being taught the very basics of cultivation when his parents died, Wei Wuxian unintentionally devises a powerful cultivation method based on the little information he knew about the original canon combined with the Video Game Mechanics of the System. It isn’t until Lotus Pier that he learns that he is ahead of most of his age mates and becomes the youngest person to have a Golden Core at age 10
  • Accidental Murder: SI!Wei Wuxian stabs a man to stop him from raping a woman, accidentally cuts a artery and the man dies.
  • Achievements in Ignorance:SI! Wei Wuxian accidentally undermines the sects’ monopoly over talismans and starts a massive black market for them because he had an old woman sell his extras for pocket money.
  • Acting Your Intellectual Age: Physically Wei Wuxian is only a year older than Jiang Cheng. Mentally his life experience as a seventy-year old aunt and second life as a rogue cultivator makes him a lot older than Jiang Cheng mentally.
  • Adaptation Expansion: As the fic opens when Wei Wuxian is four, it takes over 67 chapters to finally get to the Gusu Lan Study arc. Much detail goes into Wei Wuxian's relationship with his parents before their demise and their training of him and his journey as an orphan and child rouge cultivator. Then when he finally does get taken in the Jiangs, the resulting change of circumstances evolves his relationships in different ways.
  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike canon, Jiang Yanli is moved to learn how to seriously cultivate and fight. She is still no match for her brothers, but being able to defend herself and use a whip is far from the Non-Action Guy she is in canon.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Madam Yu manages to grow from her canonically bitter and abusive self to a stern and strict Reasonable Authority Figure
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While Jiang Fengmian is the same as his canon counterpart, viewed through the adult perspective of SI! Wei Wuxian he is put in a less flattering light. His Parental Neglect of Jiang Cheng lowers SI!Wei Wuxian’s opinion of him and his Parental Favoritism is forced on him. He doesn’t want Jiang Fengmian's attention to begin with. Because Jiang Fengmian never denies the rumors of SI! Wei Wuxian being his illegitimate son, SI! Wei Wuxian has to constantly defend himself and his parents to others. Furthermore, he is so neglectful of Jiang Cheng that SI! Wei Wuxian appoints himself as Jiang Cheng’s father figure and nurtures the child’s skills and self-confidence. Whereas Jiang Fengmian only gives Jiang Cheng one-on-one once when Jiang Cheng was 13 opposed to SI! Wei Wuxian’s constant and ongoing lessons and trips with Jiang Cheng.
  • Adopted to the House: Jiang Fengmian adopts Wei Wuxian so the rogue cultivator would stop being a homeless child.
  • Adoptive Peer Parent: Physically Wei Wuxian is only a year older than Jiang Cheng and technically his adoptive older brother. In practice, he is Jiang Cheng's fourth parent and only real father figure.
  • Aerith and Bob: As it is set in Ancient China, every named character has Chinese names unless they were from the SI's past life. Except Ike, but he is special.
  • Always Someone Better: Pretty much the lesson Wei Wuxian learned at his Curb-Stomp Battle at Madam Yu's hands when she deliberately insults his parents. While he was a successful rogue cultivator and Child Prodigy, he still has a way to go before he's prepared for the events of canon and would benefit from an education in Lotus Pier.
  • Ambiguous Situation: What the hell is Ike? Is he an imaginary friend, a Split Personality or what? What we do know is that Ike is not part of The System.
  • Amicable Exes: While the SI and her husband Walter ended up divorcing, they still remained such good friends that his family still considered her one of theirs.
  • And Your Reward Is Infancy: From the SI's perspective she was originally an elderly woman on her deathbed but accepting the Quest turned her into a three-year old male toddler.
  • Androcles' Lion: Who would have thought that befriending the runaway child cultivator and not ratting him out to the authorities would be the Bai Clan’s ticket to social ascension?
  • Anti-Nihilist: SI!Wei Wuxian knows that his life is pre-ordained and that he's going to suffer intensely. It doesn't mean that he wouldn't try to enjoy as much as he can, make connections with other people and arm himself with as much weapons and knowledge as he can to fight his fate.
  • Apathetic Citizens: As customary it was for the time in Ancient China, no one gives a damn about the impoverished children. Even the kindest of rich and wealthy characters don't care about their plight expect for certain individuals. Homeless children are invisible at best, treated as a pest at worst. While SI!Wei Wuxian intellectually understands that never actually changed in the modern era, it still boils his blood because people were less apathetic to the suffering of children in modern times.
  • Bait-and-Switch Tyrant: Madam Yu did not make the greatest first impression. First she demands that Jiang Fengmian put Wei Wuxian back in the streets, deliberately insulted the boy’s parents and makes him feel unwelcome. But she lets him know in her mean way that his parents’ bodies were given final rites. Over time, Madam Yu and Wei Wuxian find they share many similar opinions. While they don’t like each other, they both grow to respect one another.
  • Battle Couple: Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren night hunt together, working as a husband-wife team.'
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: When they first meet Jiang Cheng takes Wei Wuxian's entrance into his family with hostility. The kid locks Wei Wuxian out of their shared room in rejection. Wei Wuxian just shrugs his shoulders and sleeps in stables. Whereas Jiang Cheng ends up freaking out crying when he sees Wei Wuxian gone.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: SI!Wei Wuxian has a lovely singing voice, made to great effect as he would use the Disney music catalogue to their advantage to entertain himself or others.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Who would have thought an old woman to start an illegal talisman trade? Who would have the source of the talismans to be a child cultivator?
  • Benevolent Conspiracy: Wei Wuxian creates a secret society with the purpose of helping himself and others survive the upcoming upheavals in the Sunshot Campaign and its aftermath by providing technological advances to fund their operations and training knowledge to ensure their collective survival. He has members recruit people from various sects, social stations and walks of life to provide secret safehouses, emergency money, equipment and escape routes in the hopes of not being completely alienated and resource-less when future events come to pass.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: The unnamed pedophile that attempts corner the five-year old Wei Wuxian is noted to be well-groomed with fine robes and have a friendly face and voice that seems oh so concerned for this potentially lost child. Wei Wuxian's Stranger Danger senses tingled, and he immediately sees through the man as a pedophile.
  • Black Market: Wei Wuxian accidentally creates one. Paper Talismans are exclusively sold by sects because of the expertise needed to create them and the resources needed to produce them. Wei Wuxian accidentally undermines this by making talismans through the unlimited supplies of his Inventory Store and due to his young age had an old woman sell his talismans for him. The old woman, Yan Mingxia ended up selling the talisman much cheaper than the sects’ price which causes them to sell out quickly. They ended up with a massive trade route which risks being shut-down or having to go underground if the cultivation sects catch on.
  • Blame Game: When Wei Wuxian accidentally gets trapped by an old Jiang defense mechanism, Jiang Fengmian immediately blames Jiang Cheng for it and attempts to punish him. Wei Wuxian intervenes pointing out that he was the one to trigger the trap and Jiang Cheng did the responsible thing by immediately getting help. While Wei Wuxian is punished as a result; the fact that Wei Wuxian refused to let Jiang Cheng be blamed for things he wasn’t responsible for and take responsibility for his own actions is a major turning point in their relationship. This incident causes Jiang Cheng to lose respect for his father as he realizes that Jiang Fengmian doesn’t actually care for his or Wei Wuxian’s feelings. Additionally, that Wei Wuxian will have his back.
  • Blessed with Suck: Wei Wuxian has intimate knowledge of his and world's future and knows exactly what they are all capable of. But he also knows how he and his loved ones will suffer in that future and knows from the very beginning he is going to die.
  • Blue-Collar Warlock: Wei Wuxian was born to rogue cultivators and constantly traveled to find work. The jobs he picked up were pretty blue collar: hunt that monster, ward off the annoying spirits, peel fruits and vegetables, carve that wood and make talismans. He rides on a donkey and take whatever work available to make ends meet
  • Book Dumb: Invoked. Wei Wuxian asks how learning poetry and calligraphy would actually be relevant fighting monsters and the undead when he first joins Lotus Pier. While Wei Wuxian knows how to read and write he’s dreadfully uneducated in literature and history at that point due to his lack of schooling.
  • Boring, but Practical: The first things Wei Wuxian teaches Jiang Cheng is how to camp, how to track and how to hunt. While it's not magical like cultivation or exciting like sword fighting, it is necessary because they will be travelling a lot and not always have the luxury of an inn. Furthermore, it helps to know to how to hunt like regular person to save their energy when fighting or tracking vicious ghosts or monsters.
  • Both Sides Have a Point:
    • On Jiang Fengmian forcing Wei Wuxian to join Lotus Pier. Jiang Fengmian has a point that Wei Wuxian is still physically a child that sound be kept safe and that he would more education and opportunity that most rogue cultivators would kill for being part of a Great Sect like Jiang Sect. Wei Wuxian has a point that he doesn't want to be at Jiang Sect, lived independently as a rogue cultivator and doesn’t give that same chance to other orphans in Yummeng who are in worst circumstances than Wei Wuxian ever was.
    • Wei Wuxian does not want to join what he knows will be a toxic household that will crush his self-esteem to dust, turn his adoptive brother against him and be an obstacle in their adoptive parents’ marital problems until the day they die. Jiang Fengmian had a point because a stable home and food along with a close family unit to get attached does a lot in improving Wei Wuxian's mental health and need for affection.
    • When people see a four-year old Wei Ying with his ragged facial scar, they logically think it shows that a four-year old should not night-hunt and what were his parents thinking? Wei Ying angrily defends them but privately thinks they’re right. It’s just that Wei Ying has special circumstances since he knows his parents are destined to die and he wants to learn as soon as he could to not be a destitute Street Urchin. He does not want other parents attempting that with actual four year olds
  • Broken Pedestal:
    • Wei Wuxian believed that he would grow to like Jiang Fengmian. The reality was the opposite of that. Since he was a parent in their past life, he viewed how Jiang Fengmian would coddle but no give no boundaries to Wei Wuxian but be strict and show no affection to Jiang Cheng with distaste. His good impression was further eroded by how controlling Jiang Fengmian was of him and how he disregarded Wei Wuxian's actual dreams for his own desires. He would dismiss Wei Wuxian's desires as an unfortunate phase. During Wei Wuxian's forced stay at Lotus Pier that his respect for the man dwindled -because Jiang Fengmian literally did not see him as his own person but as an extension of his parents.
    • Jiang Cheng slowly loses respect for his father and his desire to please him due to having Wei Wuxian as an alternative parental figure. Seeing Wei Wuxian put in true effort to uplift him and help him grow compared to Jiang Fengmian’s negligence puts things into a starker light.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Wei Wuxian playfully bullies Nie Huaisang into working hard and coos over how adorable he is despite knowing Nie Huaisang is a dangerous master manipulator that can ruin people's lives without them knowing.
  • Caught Coming Home Late: Wei Wuxian has to flee during a night-hunt when he and the allies he was meeting up with learn that Jiang Fengmian found out about a child that joining them. He successfully manages to dodge the consequences by returning to his room before he's caught with Jiang Cheng backing him up as never having left in the first place.
  • Chekhov's Skill: One of Wei Wuxian’s side missions was helping a man carve wood to make a boat. The wood-carving skill came in handy when he had to hand craft a stamp for his illegal talisman factory and recreate fountain pens
  • Children Are Innocent:
    • When children are kind to him, Wei Wuxian makes the effort to tone down his violent tendencies and mentor them as shown with Kang Shu and Meng Yao.
    • Young Jiang Cheng is very naïve, thinking it is super cool that SI!Wei Wuxian got to do cool cultivator things on his own and doesn't understand why his parents seem to be fighting over Wei Wuxian's presence. He mistakenly thinks that he will be forced to share his parents and can be easily scared by SI!Wei Wuxian's viciousness. SI!Wei Wuxian makes a point to accommodate Jiang Cheng and tone himself down.
  • Closet Punishment: the SI's original mother would lock her in an empty white room and refuse to let her out to punish her for things out the SI's control. This just gave the SI claustrophobia so powerful that it followed in his next life as Wei Wuxian.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Madam Yu and Wei Wuxian strangely bond over how they don’t want Wei Wuxian to stay in Lotus Pier over the course of his stay there. Due to their mutual disappointment in Jiang Fengmian, they ended up sincerely caring each through neither would ever admit it.
    • Madam Yu finally starts to bond with Wei Wuxian when she finds out that he supports her misgivings against him and Jiang Fengmian. Wei Wuxian thought she was being completely reasonable about not wanting a volatile orphan to be forced to share quarters with her sheltered children. Plus, he thought Jiang Fengmian was being a dick for not communicating with his wife before or after his "adoption"
  • Commonplace Rare: Talismans are very common for cultivators as any decent one could make one. Whereas for commoners true working talismans are pretty rare unless they are fortunate or misfortunate enough to need a Sect’s intervention.
  • Composite Character: Wei Wuxian's System has the abilities of The System in The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong, the capabilities of the Sudden Game Interface in The Gamer and Solo Leveling
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Wei Wuxian's first fight with Madam Yu. Pissed off eight-year old mostly self-taught rogue cultivator vs a grown adult Sect cultivator with decades of experience and education under her belt. It could barely be called a fight.
  • Cuteness Proximity: SI!Wei Wuxian finds the seven-year old Jiang Cheng when they first meet absolutely adorable. He just wants to pinch his cheeks and feed him cookies and coo when Jiang Cheng inevitably punches him for embarrassing him. His feistiness just makes him more adorable.

     Tropes D-F
  • David vs. Goliath: Wei Wuxian, a five-year-old armed with bow and versus a giant bear spirit. Who wins? The five-year-old using his bow as a spear.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: SI!Wei Wuxian grew to love the new parents he had in his second life and regrets that he didn't truly accept them as his parents until after they died. While he vocally defends them and their parenting, he privately thinks they were rather flawed but overall loving people.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance:
    • When Wei Ying's parents were still alive, they would go night-hunt. However, they would leave their child behind in an inn room with no supervision despite their child being 3-4 at the time. To the British SI, that's strange.
    • Played for Laughs, being from the modern era SI!Wei Wuxian really wants a haircut. Which would be a grievous insult to his ancestors and could mark him as a criminal, so village women talk him out of it.
    • In Ancient China, Jiang Fengmian was being extremely kind for taking in his late servant's son as raising him with his own children. He didn't even turn him into a servant and gave him the same education as his own son. SI!Wei Wuxian was British and raised in the modern era along with being married and had raised a family of their own, saw Jiang Fengmian as being extremely irresponsible for not considering the possible consequences or having the basic courtesy of talking about it with his wife.
  • Defusing The Tykebomb: The Jiangs do this accidentally to SI!Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian was Forced To Be Sharp to survive on his own and develop the skills of a rogue cultivator. The Jiangs by forcing Wei Wuxian to get an education of a direct disciple and adopting him into their family teach Wei Wuxian to grow past his survival instincts and be as close to a normal child he can be
  • Didn't Think This Through: Jiang Fengmian may have been a kind person to adopt Wei Wuxian but by God, did he not think the consequences through. He failed to considered that he never asked Madam Yu if she would be okay adopting another kid especially the child of her former romantic rival. He didn't consider that Madam Yu could be abusive or neglectful to Wei Wuxian and that his biological children would be caught in the middle of it. He did not consider that Wei Wuxian would have special emotional needs as a result of having to fend for himself at an extremely young age or how he could have endangered the other children. He also failed to consider how his biological children would feel at suddenly getting a new sibling and being forced to share quarters with a total stranger. This haunts Wei Wuxian's time in Lotus Pier as he's stuck with Jiang Fengmian's choices
  • Disproportionate Retribution: How Lan Wangji sees his actions in the Library Incident in the aftermath. Due to Wei Wuxian accidentally giving him a porn book that the latter tried to not have him see. He attacked Wei Wuxian with a sword and a Silencing Spell which triggers a Qi Deviation that could have crippled Wei Wuxian's cultivation. He is very remorseful over it.
  • Doomed by Canon: As much as loving parents Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren are to Wei Wuxian and how much he tries to prevent their fate, they are doomed to die in a night-hunt accident. Wei Wuxian could only savor them while he still could and still feels like he accepted them as his parents too late.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: Jiang Fengmian wants Wei Wuxian to be Jiang Cheng's right-hand man like how his father Wei Changse was to him. Jiang Fengmian deliberately ignores that Wei Changse left him to forge his own path as a rogue cultivator when he eloped with Cangse Sanren. Or that Wei Wuxian loudly tells him to his face that he plans to leave Lotus Pier once he passes his majority.
  • Due to the Dead: Wei Wuxian is overwrought when he finds that his parents received last rites: their ashes and swords at the Jiang Family shrine. The last time he saw them, he made himself leave their bodies behind because he couldn’t make himself see them
  • Early Personality Signs: A young Jin Zixun is introduced showing his Jerkass and classist ways when he orders a servant to have Wei Wuxian whipped for bumping into him in a crowded street long when both of them are just children.
  • Easy Logistics: Averted Wei Wuxian keeps his Hammerspace a secret as he knows that such an advantage would paint a target on his back.
What would Jin Guangshan do, if he knew there was someone who could hide anything and carry anything, as long as it wasn't living, without a trace? He's certainly torture them to find out its secret, and kill them once he found out it couldn't be replicated.
  • Embarrassing Nickname:
    • SI!Wei Wuxian gives Jiang Cheng the nickname "Platypus" over being overly jealous while taking the privileges and security he does have for granted.
    • Jiang Cheng attempts payback by nicknaming Wei Wuxian "Xian Xian." It doesn't work as Wei Wuxian just rolls with the nickname and others are more embarrassed on Jiang Cheng's behalf than Wei Wuxian actually is.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: When reading over field reports for a group assignment, Wei Wuxian is extremely frustrated by the errors made due to the clashing egos of the field cultivators. He asks where he could find said cultivators so he can insult them to their face.
  • Eskimos Aren't Real: SI!Wei Wuxian frames the platypus as a mythical animal. Mostly because Ancient China would have no idea that the Australian mammal exists.
  • Every Scar Has a Story: Wei Wuxian has to go through a very mortifying medical examination where he is forced to explain the multitude of scars he got over the years of being a rogue cultivator. While most of his scars have stories behind them, Wei Wuxian only clarifies two before clamming up: the claw marks on his chest that he got when he was five from when he fought a bear. The other were whipping marks, one from before the bear incident and another from a year ago that he refuses to tell who did that to him. Jiang Fengmian and the doctor examining him are horrified because regardless of his skill and experience, Wei Wuxian is just an eight-year old.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Madam Yu doesn't not like Wei Wuxian and thinks it would be better if he wasn’t directly made part of their family. But that doesn’t mean that she’s willing to let Wei Wuxian continue putting himself at risk as a homeless rogue cultivator despite being no older than her son.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Wei Wuxian comes across a young Wen Qing, her hair in little buns as opposed to the half-up and half-down style of her adulthood. It’s to signal Wen Qing’s youth, girlishness and ultimately her helplessness as she is pressured by her adult servant to order Wei Wuxian whipped despite her own desires.
  • Extended Disarming: Wei Wuxian is forced to disarm when going under a medical examination and after reflexively threatening Jiang Cheng when the latter attempted to wake him up. He's forced to disarm himself of his bow, his sword, his talismans, his sleeve knives, his belt knives, his boot knives, his hair knives....they are pretty horrified to see how he heavily armed he was. While Wei Wuxian knows that was only his weapons he had on his person as he has more in his Inventory or can get more through his Item Store.
  • Fake–Real Turn: When Yan Mingxia and Wei Wuxian start their talisman making business, it was originally the equivalent of a lemonade stand. Technically illegal but socially acceptable. However the muggle population loved having an easier method of getting real talismans instead of going through cultivation sects. They ended up having to expand and having to innovate to keep up with the demand of a brand new trade route. Wei Wuxian created a very profitable and very illegal business
  • False Reassurance: Wei Wuxian insists the mass-produced talismans aren’t technically illegal. Which it isn’t. Mostly because the cultivation sects don’t know the source of the cheap talismans breaking their monopoly
  • Family of Choice: Wei Wuxian and the Jiang siblings grow to love each other so much that they consider themselves to be family.
  • Fictional Age of Majority: Age 13 is when cultivators receive their sword and can go on night hunts. Which is really annoying for Wei Wuxian because Jiang Fengmian uses as an excuse to restrict his movements to Lotus Pier. But Word of God states he’s not considered a true adult until he’s 18.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Wei Wuxian becomes dear friends with Bai Shoushan after they work together to take down the Measuring Snake that killed fifteen people.
  • First-Episode Resurrection: An old woman named Sarah Windsor dies surrounded by her loved ones sees a Sudden Game Interface instead of the light in the end of the tunnel. Which gave her the option of taking the Quest of being Wei Wuxian in The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. Figuring she had nothing else to do since she already settled her affairs and said goodbye to her family, takes the quest.
  • Fish out of Water: Wei Wuxian has an unpleasant time adapting to the sedentary lifestyle of Lotus Pier after a lifetime of nomadic traveling. (Note: Wei Wuxian was eight years old at that point. He had been night-hunting since he was four. Literally half his life.) He has to wrap his head around people being upset if he’s not in his room at night and the unnatural stillness after constantly being on the move
  • Follow in My Footsteps: Jiang Fengmian wants to live his dreams of himself with Wei Changze serving him as his right hand man through his biological son and adoptive son. Ignoring the reality that said adoptive son wants nothing to do with that and regain the freedom he had as a rouge cultivator and a biological son who supports said notion.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Having the mind of an adult in the body of a young child, changes the options a young Wei Ying had. Which in turn have knock-on effects on his relationships. For example, Wei Ying chose to take his luck and become a rogue cultivator when he is orphaned. Where his canon counterpart being an actual child ended up a destitute Street Urchin. Which was why he was incredibly gracious for Jiang Fengmian finding him and taking him in and tolerated Madam Yu’s hatred of him. He literally would not have survived without Jiang Fengmian’s kindness. Whereas SI!Wei Wuxian has spent years surviving on his own and proudly reminding people of his heritage to establish his credentials. Being an adult gives SI!Wei Wuxian an objective perspective on the Jiang parents’ relationship and be like, “You know, Madam Yu has a point. Why didn’t you discuss adopting me with her or discredit the rumors of me being your bastard?”
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: It angers SI!Wei Wuxian how little people actually talk about the late Wei Changze except as an excuse to dismiss SI!Wei Wuxian for his father's low status despite Wei Changze being a cultivator.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Wei Wuxian clarifies while he understands Madam Yu's viewing him as a threat, it still doesn't excuse her poor treatment of him and her children. Especially since she is responsible for most of her own misery and her bad behavior will negatively affect Jiang Cheng in the long run.
  • Friend in the Black Market: Wei Wuxian creates a whole group of them so he would have resources when he eventually gets ousted from the cultivation world. They run the illegal talisman business and several safe houses for him
  • Friendless Background: Turns out both Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian have no friends in Lotus Pier outside of each other for different reasons. Jiang Cheng is so revered for his social position that their agemates are too afraid to approach him. Wei Wuxian is resented by said agemates for violating his social station by befriending Jiang Cheng and being better than all them despite his low birth status
  • From the Mouths of Babes: A four year old Wei Ying looks at Lan Qiren, forgetting his name calls him "Old Goat" due to his goatee. Lan Qiren is extremely offended even after Cangse Sanren makes Wei Ying apologize.
