Even Evil Has Standards / Total Drama

Go To

Despite the numerous characters in this series that range from insensitive jerks, to full on diabolical, even many of them have lines they won't cross.

  • Chris, the Depraved Kids' Show Host himself:
    • He was genuinely disgusted when Heather read Gwen's diary on National Television; and feels bad when, in the same episode, Justin is the one who gets voted off.
Chris: That's really messed up, dude.
    • In "No Pain, No Game", he is disturbed by Izzy's willingness to do a poison ivy treatment challenge, and calls the production crew to get their approval before allowing it.
    • He was horrified when the psycho killer with a chainsaw and a hook came across Gwen. Admittedly, he was more worried about potential lawsuits rather than actual concern for her, but he still left the safety of his surveillance room (alongside everyone else) to warn her.
    • In "Camp Castaways", when Chef begins naming off all the terrible things that might be happening to the lost campers, Chris appears to become genuinely concerned and suggests checking out the cameras to see what's happening with them.
    • Mike calls him out on this in "The Treasure Island of Dr. McLean", stating that burying someone alive is dangerous, even by Chris' standards.
    • Even he doesn't approve of Courtney trying to give his starving interns a sundae covered in chocolate coals and bird vomit in "Sundae Muddy Sundae", changing the rules so that the contestants have to eat their own sundaes and forbidding Courtney from eating anything else until she finishes hers.
Chris: You won't get anything else until you finish the sundae that you thought was good enough to feed my interns.
    • While he may flush the losers down a giant toilet in All-Stars, he gets pretty pissed at the Sasquatchanakwa for using it as an actual toilet.
Chris: Seriously, bro, we put PEOPLE in there!
    • In "The Bold and the Booty-ful", he was genuinely scared when Mal came up out of nowhere and was about to hit Gwen with a pipe and it caused him to head to the panic room!
Chris: Whoa! Where did he come from? That guy is just spooky!
    • Like Sugar, he considered the way Sky rejected Dave in front of the world was 'pretty much like watching someone hoof a kitten in the nards'.
    • In "Scarlett Fever", he doesn't even waste time with an elimination ceremony for Scarlett, instead chewing her out and throwing her off the island as soon as everything is resolved.
    • In the 2023 relaunch, he's just as disapproving of Emma getting back together with Chase as the rest of the cast is.
    • He refused to let Scary Girl join one of the finalist's teams in "Soar Losers" due to her insanity.
  • Chef:
    • In "Not Quite Famous", he doesn't give Heather a score during the talent contest for reading Gwen's diary out loud to the entire world, implying that even he was disgusted by her actions.
    • He was a little shocked when he thought he killed Izzy during the alien challenge.
    • He was worried when Zoey snapped in "Eat, Puke, and Be Wary".
Chef: I may have pushed her too far...
    • He's also freaked out by Mal's cruelty.
      Chef: That kid ain't right!
    • In "The Final Wreck-ening" he expresses concern about the challenge Chris set up, and refuses to high five the former when he describes how brutal and vicious the challenge is, stating, "People are gonna die."
    • In "Hurl & Go Seek" he is genuinely concerned about the contestants eating food that expired back in 1976, and is visibly dismayed by Chris' apparent joy at the horrible side effects the contestants will be suffering from.
  • Courtney: As competitive as she is, there are times where even she has shown limits:
    • Even she thinks that Heather stealing Gwen's diary and reading it out loud to the whole world is "so uncalled for."
    • While at her worst in Action, there's a challenge where she has to make a shark act like her. During the challenge, she implies she turned her shark into sushi, but when Chef questions this she says she would never do anything that cruel. Instead, she made him cough up his lunch.
  • Duncan: As much as he enjoys being a bad guy, even Duncan is disgusted with the way how Chris or the antagonists plays.
    • Knowing he once lost his own pet and didn't want DJ to go through the same, he actually helped DJ get his bunny back to him.
    • He's the one to alert Chef that Harold is too sick to continue the challenge after Harold throws up mud.
    • Was quite upset when Trent was thought to have cheated on Gwen with Heather and voted him off for it.
    • Called out Heather for her betrayal of Lindsay, which he described as "cold". When Heather retorted that he had no room to talk because "all [he did] was go around scaring the crap out of everyone," his response was "At least I'm straight with people!"
    • Was not happy to see Alejandro throw Cody to the sharks.
    • He also refused to fight a defenseless bird.
  • Heather, despite her ruthlessness, does, in rare moments, display some concern for the other contestants' well-being whenever they are injured or in near-death situations. Apparently, she wouldn't go so far as to want them to die.
    • In Hook, Line, and Screamer, she joins the group hug for DJ, implying even she liked him.
    • In One Flu Over the Cuckoos, she agrees to let Leshawna, her sworn enemy, win the prize after witnessing her (fake) cry in front of their team.
    • In The Sand Witch Project, she genuinely asks DJ if he's okay after the second time he hallucinates her as his mother.
    • In Slap Slap Revolution, she warns Leshawna about Alejandro being up to no good.
    • In I See London, she was legitimately concerned for Alejandro's safety after he was kidnapped, and suggested looking for him despite being on opposite teams.
    • In Greece's Pieces, she comforts a heartbroken Courtney. Bonus points for this being one of her rare moments of kindness that has no intention of gaining someone as an ally.
    • In Picnic at Hanging Dork, she's genuinely worried about Cody's safety alongside Gwen and helps to get him back on the cliff.
    • Alejandro's plan to eliminate Duncan in "African Lying Safari" leaves her stunned.
Heather: (confessional) Even I'm not that ruthless!
    • She, along with Cody and Alejandro, is genuinely concerned when Sierra gets caught in the plane explosion in Awwwwww, Drumheller.
    • In Planes, Trains, and Hot Air Mobiles, she helps Sierra, who's become bald as of recent events, cover her head, claiming no girl deserves to be seen bald on TV.
  • Alejandro
    • Despite being a villain, Alejandro dislikes the idea of senseless violence and occasionally shows genuine concern over wounded or otherwise incapacitated contestants. In accordance with this, he's expressed horror and disgust at the cruelty of some of his fellow antagonists.
Alejandro: (to Chris) You are pure evil!
Alejandro: Mal does not belong in juvie...he belongs in jail!
    • He, along with Heather and Cody, is genuinely concerned when Sierra gets caught in the plane explosion. He even asks her if she's okay.
  • Scott
    • He sure wasn't happy when Sam and Dakota's electronics were taken away by Chris because it led both of them to fall under withdrawal.
    • He, along with Jo and Lightning, seemed genuinely concerned for Heather when she crash landed after testing a jet pack for Chris.
  • Max:
    • He tells Samey that her jealousy towards Amy is the lowest form of evil.
    • He alongside all of Team Kinosewak glare at Sugar for laughing at Ella's heartbroken state.
    • Apparently, threatening to kill people is going too far for him. After Scarlett reveals her true self, he is seen in the confessional in the fetal position, sucking his thumb out of fear.
  • Bowie:
    • He's one of the people glaring at Ripper when Chef reveals he threw a baby bird on the ground.
    • He's disgusted with how poorly Chase treated Emma, and is very disappointed in Emma for getting back together with him.
    • He begins to feel guilty about supporting Julia and MK's underhanded tactics of cheating in challenges by having the latter disguise herself as an intern to get details on challenges after seeing how guilty and uneasy Raj and Wayne feel about it, eventually turning against Julia and MK and siding with Wayne and Raj by "Ice To Beat You". He also refuses to force Raj to choose between him and playing the game fairly.
    • He shows genuine concern for Wayne when he tries to pole vault his way across a gorge, bringing up how impossible and dangerous that is and begging him not to do so (though his pleas fall on deaf ears as Wayne does so anyway and luckily survives), showing he draws the line at letting other people hurt themselves.
  • Julia
    • She was horrified by all the awful things Chase did to Emma while they were in a relationship, even calling him out on his behavior. She is also openly disgusted with Emma after she gets back together with Chase following his elimination.
    • She calls Chris a maniac for throwing her and the other contestants out of a helicopter.
    • While Julia has no problem sabotaging the other players for her own benefit, she actually feels guilty when she decides to sabotage MK and sounds really upset when she says her name.
  • MK:
    • When hacking the confessional cam, she makes it clear that she's going to skip over all the parts with people pooping and just watch the confessionals. Ironically, being accused of not having this standard seems to be what makes the other contestants choose to vote her off instead of Julia.
    • While she's pretty snarky and dismissive towards everyone else, even she's horrified at some of the more dangerous challenges Chris forces them to do. She also shows annoyance towards the producers for not screening the contestants and putting their safety in danger by casting the criminally insane Lauren as a result.
    • She's actually sympathetic to the Raptor Julia told off, saying she hopes it's okay.
    • When Zee reveals that Caleb has been seemingly stringing Priya along by pretending to be into her, MK seems genuinely disgusted, claiming that while she's cold and manipulative, at least she's honest about it.
