    Roland Morgan

Roland Morgan

Voiced by: Michihiro Ikemizu (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_roland_morgan.png

  • The Captain: The level-headed and responsible Captain of the Centurion.
  • Dark and Troubled Past\My Greatest Failure: He once lost a ship and an entire crew to an ambush because he was briefly away from the bridge. Ever since then, he does everything on the bridge while on duty, eating & sleeping included.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: He was this a long time ago!
  • Eyes Always Shut
  • Game-Breaking Injury: He suffers serious head wounds during Crymaria's 2nd attack on the Centurion, which eventually ends up with him giving Claude command over the Cygnus Fleet. After the war said injury pretty much forced him to retire from active command.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a rather big one to the side of the head.
  • Guile Hero: He pulls a fast one on his Imperial assaulters by staging a fake sinking of the Centurion, while he was actually having his ship hide just out of their sight in a crevasse, allowing Squad E time enough to regroup and repel them for good.
  • Meaningful Name: Shares his name with Henry Morgan, the famous pirate captain. Possibly changed into Morgen in the west for for being that on the nose.
  • The Mentor: He takes a shine early on to "Mr.Wallace", offering the young commander as much advice and perspective as he can spare. After the war ends, unable to reamin on duty as Captain, he ends up teaching officers-to-be as a naval academy instructor.
  • Nerves of Steel: Always calm and collected, even under heavy fire.
  • Officer and a Gentleman
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite the secrecy and urgency of Operation Cygnus, he doesn't hesitate to let Imperial refugees on board when the need arises.
  • Retired Badass: After the war wraps up, his injuries forced him to retire from the front lines.
  • Spell My Name With An S: His surname is changed to Morgen in translation done outside of Japan/Asia.

    Brian Haddock

Brian Haddock

Voiced by: Takuya Kirimoto (Japanese), Ben Lepley (English)

  • Caring Gardener: Brian has a fondness for plant keeping. His cabin on the Centurion has plenty of carefully-tended potted plants, and he dreams of being able to build a greenhouse after the war is over.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Stated to frequently butt heads with Claude, but eventually grows to respect him and trusts him with the Centurion command.
  • Interservice Rivalry: As a navy supremacist, he tends to look down on the army and clashes opinions with Claude.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When Imperials manage to sneak past Squad E in "Soul of the Navy," Brian takes up his rifle and helps defend the engine room.
  • The Navigator: Of the Centurion.
  • Nervous Wreck: He's said to be somewhat neurotic, which makes him difficult to approach. Corroborated by one of his potentials.
  • Number Two: XO of the Centurion when Captain Morgan is not around.
  • Secret Character: Brian is an unlockable Scout unit. To unlock him, the player must complete the post-game Through the Fire skirmish. Doing this also unlocks Louffe, Sergio, and André as well.

    Marie Bennett

Voiced by: Hiroko Ushida (Japanese), Dorothy Elias-Fahn (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_mary_bennett.png

  • Bridge Bunnies: Alongside Louffe
  • Communications Officer: The Centurion's radio operator.
  • The Lost Lenore: The Personnel section stated that she once had a fiancé who died in war, and she wore the ring he gave her whenever she goes.
  • Mission Control: She takes over this duty from Minerva after the Navy made its debut.
  • So Proud of You: Basically her sentiment after the player had maxed out all of the class training paths to level 30 Paragon.
  • Tragic Keepsake: As noted above, the ring from her late fiancé.

    Louffe

Louffe

Voiced by: Shino Shimoji (Japanese), Cassandra Lee Morris (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_louffe.png

  • Bridge Bunnies: She's the Centurion's radar operator.
  • Child Prodigy: Louffe is a born genius and actually managed to skip several grades while in school. Such was her performance that Louffe managed to attain officer rank by the age of 18.
  • The Comically Serious: Louffe is the Perpetual Frowner of the Navy gang, and is almost always stern and glum no matter the situation.
  • The Dreaded: The crew of the Centurion are always nervous around her because of her foul mouth. The truth is that she's not actually angry at them, but good luck trying to explain that.
  • Face of a Thug: If her constant swearing didn't turn people away, her perma-scowl certainly would.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Her lines are so mean and vicious, that the text box sometimes includes a more polite "translation" of what she actually means in parentheses under her dialogue.
  • Grade Skipper: She skipped several grades in school and entered boot camp early.
  • Hates Small Talk: She just can't say something casual without turning it into an insult or a curse.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Despite her cold mannerisms and constant cussing, Louffe actually wants company very much. Much to her dismay, most people don't seem to understand, and Marie is effectively her Only Friend.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her very abrasive exterior, she does care about her squadmates, particularly when she tries to reassure Stahlschrott that she and the others would be sad if he died.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Easily the most foul-mouthed character in the game. She beats out Raz, which says a lot. She thinks she probably picked it up from her drill sergeant as a defense mechanism during training.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name sounds similar to aloof. She means well, but talks like a delinquent.
  • No Social Skills: Entering boot camp at such a young age has left her ill-equipped for normal social situations.
  • Odd Friendship: With Stahlschrott. Lampshaded by Marie at the end of their Squad Story.
  • Only One Name: She's a Darcsen.
  • Secret Character: Louffe can be unlocked as a playable Grenadier unit by completing the Through the Fire skirmish.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Her definition of "polite" is vastly different from average people. The simple fact is, her "insults" towards other people aren't meant to be put-downs: they're just how she addresses people normally in her head. It gets so bad that the game narrator lampshades this by providing a "translation" of what she's trying to say.

    Sergio Mousquelaire

Voiced by: Masaya Takatsuka (Japanese), Patrick Seitz (English)

The Naval Surgeon above Centurion.

  • The Big Guy: Sergio is physically the most muscular and large-framed of the Navy crew, and his hobby is bodybuilding.
  • The Dreaded: Lots of crewmen, marines, and even Squad E soldiers try to escape sickbay and claim to be combat-ready. Half the time it's because Sergio scares the crap out of them. He is apparently so feared that some said the survival rates have improved because everyone is too terrified to see him.
  • Gentle Giant: The man is absolutely huge and his heart just as big, though his fellow troopers fear him due to his approach to surgery.
  • Friend to All Children: He was previously a pediatrician, and the children love him just as much as he does.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When Imperial soldiers manage to get past Squad E in the story "Soul of the Navy", he takes up an anti-armor lance as a playable character.
  • Punny Name: His last name, Mousquelaire, can be read quite similarly to "Muscular", which actually fits his character perfectly considering his stature and love of fitness and bodybuilding.
  • Serious Business: Surgery. If you have an injury, don't let him know about it. Sergio will chase you around Centurion's decks, catch you, and tie you to a slab so he could treat you. Without anesthetics!
    • Such is his obsession with surgery that he has a negative potential that distracts him when he's around a hurt teammate and reduces his attack power.
  • Secret Character: Sergio is an unlockable Lancer, and will join the team after the player has completed the Through the Fire skirmish.
  • Skip the Anesthetic: Stated to disdain anesthetics. Perhaps this is why nobody wants to get severely injured, since the surgery would be even more painful than the wounds.

    André Dunois

André Dunois

Voiced by: Shin Aomori (Japanese), Kirk Thornton (English)

Chief Engineer of the Centurion and a veteran of three decades who served Captain Roland for a long time.

  • Combat Medic: He is classified as an engineer when playable.
  • Old Soldier: He's still qualified for combat if needed.
  • Secret Character: Like his fellows Bryan, Louffe, and Sergio above, André is an unlockable character. He will join the crew as an Engineer after completing the Through the Fire skirmish.
  • Tsundere: Although he'd rather die than admit it, he respects Riley's skills as an engineer.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: He, along with a number of other soldiers and sailors, holds back the Imperial soldiers accompanying Forseti, who invaded the Centurion to retrieve Angie. By the time Claude, Riley, and Kai reach André, he is in a critically wounded state. By the end of the game, however, he's completely fine.
