Team Akuma

     As a whole
The villainous team of the story. Dressed in gaudy and questionably-designed purple suits, Team Akuma is a crime syndicate who terrorizes Kalos in their wake. Fanatically loyal to their leader, they share his belief on a perfect and beautiful world and will do anything to make that vision a reality— by any means necessary.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Team Akuma abducts Trainers under their leader’s command, to which he uses his Malamar’s Hypnosis to ensure total cooperation before subjecting them to Mega Evolution energy, which from Pokémon XY&Z was shown to subjugate even a Zygarde. Not even the Grunts are immune to this as Poison Moth has hinted that his lackeys have been also subjected to brainwashing.
  • Combat Pragmatist: They are not above fighting dirty to get their way, whether it's holding hostages, stealing or ambushing defenseless Trainers or Pokémon to achieve their goals.
  • Dissonant Serenity: During the creation of the Bond Hybrid, the Team Akuma grunts are described to be observing this disturbing process with morbid fascination while the victims and their Pokémon are screaming in pain.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • When Adrien and Alya were ambushed by Team Akuma and Adrien saving Alya from a surprise attack by the grunt's Gulpin, in the process they destroyed the Jaws fossil Alya was carrying. The grunts callously disregard the damage as they claim they could get more from Glittering Cave.
    • How they kidnapped Ivan? By having Venomoth using Psychic on Mylène and using her as a hostage.
    • In Chapter 51, they forcibly Mega Evolve a wild Abomasnow by threatening her offspring.
  • Lack of Empathy: They're overzealous towards their leader's ideals and goals, all the while disregarding the destruction and suffering they bring upon others whether human or Pokémon.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Their new strategy in Chapter 51 managed to separate Liepard Noir from Gallade and Lady Ledian. They used a device to siphon his Key Stone energies away, including Yveltal's power, and would've succeeded if Delphox Rouge didn't intervene.
  • Nebulous Evil Organization: The resident criminal organization for this story.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Despite their hammy and cheesy villain lines and getting mocked for their questionable fashion senses, Team Akuma are considered and ouright called as a terrorist organization who are willing to kidnap and brainwash new trainers, engage in anarchy activities and steal to get their way.
  • Saying Too Much: The Grunts have a tendency to blab a lot of important information to the heroes that they really should keep to themselves that even some of their more rational members wish they kept their big mouths shut. Poison Moth knows about this and relied on their big mouths to reveal the false information on the device in order to fool the heroes.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Poison Moth, to the point of being overzealous. This is deconstructed when they organized an all-out assault on Lumiose City to draw out Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir without Poison Moth's permission, leading to a huge loss of manpower.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The members had no qualms in antagonizing young and teenaged Trainers if they got in their way.
    • They kidnapped Ivan to test their technology and experiments in turning a Trainer and Pokémon into a Bond Hyrbid.
    • In Chapter 51, they forced a wild Abomasnow to cooperate with them by threatening her children and two Grunts restrained Liepard Noir and had a pair of their Sneasel beat him up.

     Poison Moth
Team Akuma's boss and the main antagonist of the story. A masked man whose motives remain a mystery, but desires to wipe out the world's imperfection, which is why he seeks out the Legendary Pokémon, Xerneas and Yveltal. To this end, he brainwashes civilians and their Pokémon and fuse them together; creating unnatural Bond Hybrids in hopes of drawing out the entities of life and death. After the Defender of Kalos' first appearance, he begins targeting Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir due to their Key Stones connected to the Olympus Mons. A man who will gain the power he seeks by any means necessary— even if it means threatening the balance of Kalos. His true identity is the current Kalos Champion, Gabriel Agreste.
  • Adaptational Badass: Poison Moth is not just a single man brainwashing innocents to do his bidding, but is also the leader of a criminal organization with resources and mooks at his disposal.
  • Archnemesis Dad: The direction regarding who Poison Moth is taken.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: He reveals that the device used on Liepard Noir's Key Stone analyzed its energy frequencies instead of draining it, including that of Yveltal's energy frequency, at the end of Chapter 52. However, this was at the cost of losing more agents to the authorities once Lady Ledian, Liepard Noir, and Delphox Rouge defeated them.
  • Batman Gambit: At the end of Chapter 52, he reveals that he lied to his minions about the device's function of draining Key Stone's energies. The true purpose was to analyze the data frequency of the Key Stones and easily locate a matching frequency of said Key Stone. In this case, the device was used on Liepard Noir's Key Stone in order to easily locate and identify the Pokémon connected to it, including its whereabouts; Yveltal.
  • Big Bad: He is the leader of the antagonistic force in the story, after all.
  • Classy Cane: He's described to wielding a cane which his uses to flourish in the dramatics.
  • The Dreaded: Team Akuma Grunts fear in disappointing him that when first appeared before Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir through a hologram, they were quaking in fear.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Before carrying out any plans to attack Kalos and draw out the heroes, he has Nathalie ensure that Adrien is as far away as possible as to not get mixed up with the chaos.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Poison Moth has his moments when presented an opportunity to brainwash a potential soldier for Team Akuma's services, Evil Laugh included.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He kept his minions in the dark on the true function of the device to ensure the heroes won't know about it.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Poison Moth is content in hiding in the shadows while his minions and Bond Hybrids carry out his dirty work, along with the assistance of his Venomoth and Malamar. Though given his true identity, he either can put up a fight if he must or rather not under the risk of his identity being exposed.
  • Orcus on His Throne: He spends most of his time in his lair, overseeing his minion's activities through the eyes of his Venomoth.
  • Pungeon Master: He occasionally indulges in Pokémon puns, admitting it's a guilty pleasure for him. Seems like Adrien didn't fall far from the tree.
  • Transformation Trinket: From what is known about him, he wears his Key Stone in a brooch shaped as a Pokémon with large round wings, which could be either Venomoth or Vivillon.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Similar to main series, Poison Moth is the leader of the terrorist group Team Akuma and his true identity, is Gabriel Agreste; known to the public as the Kalos Champion and a famous fashion designer.

     Marge and Matthieu
Two powerful Admins of Team Akuma, characterized by their dedication to Poison Moth's cause. They debut in Chapter 62 as vicious Bond Hybrids, literally fused to their Pokémon as a result of the Akuma scientists' latest findings.

Both share the following tropes:

  • Expy: Of Courtney and Matt, to the point that Matthieu is simply Matt's French name while Marge is a name that Courtney uses in the Chuang Yi translations of the Pokémon Adventures manga.
  • Fusion Dance: They are literally fused to their Pokémon, who are also in their Mega Evolved forms. Matthieu's legs were described to have fused on top of Mega Sharpedo's back while Marge is residing inside of Mega Camerupt's volcano, unaffected by the magma.
  • Original Character: They are not found in the Miraculous Ladybug series, instead originating from this story with their personalities based from characters from the Pokémon series.
  • Super Mode: Their Pokémon are already capable of Mega Evolution. However, the Akuma scientists take it up further levels by fusing the Trainers with the Mega Evolved Pokémon into one body.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Played with. Given that they are extremely loyal to Team Akuma's cause should mean that they aren't right in the head to begin with, but being part of further Bond Phenomenon experiments that fuses them to their Pokémon that are in their powerful Mega Evolved states would likely make them even more unstable.

Marge

  • Creepy Monotone: Marge speaks in a soft and monotonous voice.
  • Cute and Psycho: Marge, as her mannerisms were based off Courtney's creepy actions towards Brendan in Pokémon Generations. Only this time, she's directing them towards Liepard Noir.
  • Dark Action Girl: She's works for Poison Moth and one of his top Admins.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Camerupt's other type. Shown to know Earth Power.
  • Emotionless Girl: One of Marge's quirks, having a monotonous tone and robotic manner of speech. However, her seeming sudden interest in Liepard Noir takes down that front to show how unstable she really is.
  • Evil Genius: Marge mentions herself being Team Akuma's most brilliant mind in her introduction. And if Liepard Noir's thoughts are to be believed, she was a scientist that his parents knew when he was younger.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: If she is the same scientist Liepard Noir knew as a child, then Marge's real name is Marjorie.
  • Playing with Fire: Marge and her Camerupt.
  • Volcanic Veins: She has lava-flowing markings on her face possibly as a result from being literally fused to her Camerupt.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Marge has no qualms in having her Camerupt use Earth Power directly on Liepard Noir, which would have seriously hurt him had Marowak not pushed him away just in time.
  • Yandere: Taking a page from Courtney, Marge starts acting like one to Liepard Noir once she decides that she wants to 'analyze' him.

Matthieu

  • Blood Knight: Matthieu demands from the heroes to send their strongest Pokémon against him.
  • Bring It: Matthieu does this towards Lady Ledian and Delphox Rouge at the end of Chapter 62 as their battle truly begins.
  • The Brute: He's a battle-hungry pirate-like thug who's loyal to Poison Moth's cause and unlike Marge, is not a scientist. Even Lila calls him a meat-headed Sharpedo brute while she has her Zoroark disguised as a Sharpedo to push Lady Ledian into a corner.
  • Dark Is Evil: Sharpedo's other type and is a vicious shark-like Pokémon.
  • Large Ham: Matthieu is a boastful battle maniac who speaks like a pirate.
  • Making a Splash: Matthieu and his Sharpedo.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Likely from the effects of being literally fused to his Sharpedo, he shares his Pokémon's scary set of teeth.
  • Slasher Smile: He's described to often viciously smiling, with a full set of menacing teeth to go with it.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: Keeping with him being a self-styled pirate, he still wears the standard Team Akuma uniform, except the sleeves are removed.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Matthieu is given this style of speech as he also seems to fancy himself as one, wearing a bandanna on his head and using Sharpedo, a well-known terror of the seas, as his main Pokémon.
  • Would Hit a Girl: When Matthieu first appears, he had Sharpedo directly attack Lady Ledian only for Electivire to take the hit in her place. Later when Delphox Rouge arrives to help Lady Ledian out, he's ready to duke it out with the two masked heroines.
