The Tribes

    Original Sato
  • Born Unlucky: Henry being unstable enough to screw everyone over, including himself.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Henry's actions early on managed to screw over everyone but Amy, as the Satos were picked off one by one. (With Murtz, Christopher, and Ryan being the only boots in between)
  • The Heart: Everyone but Henry and David filled this role to an extent.

    Original Kamiya
  • Born Lucky: Lucked into the majority when Henry suddenly gave them power. Additionally, Dave, Mike, and Ryan are slated to be swift boots had the game proceeded normally.
  • Card-Carrying Villain
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder
  • Evil Counterpart: Surprisingly accurate on a number of levels, especially to Sato.
    • Mike to Lance: Both attempted to play honorably, but Lance took the Honor Before Reason approach, while Mike ultimately claimed to be honorable to gain jury votes whilst breaking deals.
    • Joni to Elisabeth: Where both girls were sweethearts with more strategic prowess than they let on, Elizabeth used strategy to try to save her friends, wheras Joni voted hers out as needed.
    • Murtz to Henry: Both were friends of the author that assumed a leadership position in their alliance, but while Henry was motivated by keeping people around he liked, Murtz wanted to hurt everyone.
    • Ryan to David: Both were hardcore strategists that planned to usurp the leaders of their tribes, but Ryan was far nastier, and David ultimately went down trying to protect his alliance friends while Ryan went down before we could completely backstab his.
    • Michelle to Matt: Both were extremely hardcore players that Ultimately let their emotions get in the way of their games, but unlike Matt, Michelle succeeded in getting revenge whenever she desired to, and played much more unethically.
    • Christopher to Amy: Both are The Charmer and unofficial leaders of the power alliance that would do anything for their troops, but where Amy tries to keep her tribe safe through leadership, Christopher slanders everyone opposed to him and his alliance.
    • Inverted with Beth and Danielle, as both were screwed by Kamiya, but Danielle was far more sympathetic and a better sport.
  • Kick the Dog: Done way way too often.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Applied nicely by Isabella to everyone from the merge until the final 4.
    • Before that, Amy managed to apply it to Murtz and Christopher.
  • Moral Myopia: How dare Emma do the same thing to them that they tried to do to everyone else. How dare she? She must never receive our jury votes, let's make a promise!
  • Sixth Ranger: Hogan. It lasted for all of one vote.
  • Smug Snake: Everyone but Danielle and Isabella.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Over and over again. Isabella manages to subvert it for a few rounds by getting Ryan, Joni, and Michelle eliminated over the Sato targets though.
  • Token Good Teammate: Danielle, and to a lesser extent, Isabella.

    Henry's new Sato
  • Being Good Sucks: Sure they could have thrown the challenge to get rid of Joni and gain the majority, but that wouldn't be fair now would it?
  • Deus ex Machina: Lance, Hogan, and Murtz were sitting ducks until new Sato was formed. Henry should have been a recipient, but he managed to screw it up.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Nicely averted. Unlike new Kamiya, Sato was willing to work with their new tribemates, and the fact that most of their eliminations were Original Kamiyans happened for completely different reasons. Didn't stop Murtz from treating it like this though.

    Mike's new Kamiya
  • Boring, but Practical: Booting the Satos one by one was insanely predictable, but gave Original Kamiya the majority.
  • Deus ex Machina: For Mike and Ryan, both of whom were about to be voted off before the twist hit.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Only Matt survived being switched.
  • Kick the Dog: Weirdly enough, everyone but Isabella does this at one point, even the swapped Satos.

    Miyagi
Mass "Oh, Crap!": An epic one happens when everyone realizes RYAN is going home.
  • Before that, everyone's reaction to the wheel saving Amy
  • And before that Matt revealing that someone spilled all Kamiya's information to him.

The Sole Survivor

    Mike Ruff

Runner-Up

    Isabella Smith; alias Emma
  • Action Girl: Wins 5 individual immunities. Not to mention she deliberately threw every reward Challenge and the final immunity Challenge.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Once again. This time she reveals her true colors much earlier, but nobody realizes how good at Challenges she is until it's too late to stop her.
  • Deus ex Machina: Towards Sato. Unfortunately they let it get to their heads, and tried to boot her next. It backfired.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: She maintains that people wouldn't have had such a problem with her double identity if Amy hadn't been fanning the flames. And that is all we will say about that.
  • Graceful Loser: Well graceful, not happy.
  • History Repeats: She loses to a male and far worse strategist than herself in a 5-2 vote for reasons beyond her control.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Delivered this to as many of her sadistic tribemates as possible.
  • Only Sane Man: One of the few people in the game to not do anything particularly foolish or cruel. (Though Kamiya would disagree)
  • Popularity Power: Invokes this by keeping Amy around. Since she's so popular, she knows her opponents will have to remove Amy at some point, and thus spare Isabella when they could otherwise eliminate them.
  • The Hero: Practically by default as she's the only mildly heroic character with any kind of power in Miyagi.
  • Wham Line: Delivers several.
"Unlike you, I don't play impulsively. I think things through." note
"I'm not playing the Isabella Smith strategy, I am the Isabella Smith Strategy.

The Jury

    Amy Twieg
  • Deus ex Machina: Actually this happened almost every single time she was in danger.
    • When the merge hits, she's in trouble and fails to win immunity. Then right before the vote, she was given immunity from a last minute twist.
      • Then Emma inexplicably votes with her, putting her alliance in the driver's seat.
    • She then proceeds to win the last immunity possible all the way to the final 6.
    • At the final 5, she is finally vulnerable against an alliance of 4, and should logically be gone. Instead, Isabella decides to get Mike and Michelle to flip on and vote out Joni for the sole reason of using Amy as a shield.
    • At the Final 4, Isabella again saves her against all logic, forcing a tie against Mike.
    • At the final 3, the immunity challenge actually gives her a large advantage, since she knows things from being on Sato that Mike and Isabella wouldn't. Unfortunately for her this is subverted at long last as Isabella manages to get both of them eliminated from the Challenge and Mike decides to go back on his final 2 deal with her, voting her out.
  • The Hero: Especially obvious once Lance goes home.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses: She knows she shouldn't trust Isabella to help her, but she has no other options. She fully expects to be eliminated whenever possible by the end of the game though.
  • Loved by All: Every single person had something good to say about her, even Michelle and Isabella.

    Michelle Kin-Fraley
  • Berserk Button:
    • David slams into one when he quips that he understands why her (Fake) Divorce happened. She tries to have the producers remove him removed from the game in response. Despite the fact that he was going to be voted out shortly.
      • Apparently this was a fabrication of what really happened. Apparently David googled her before the game, and exploited it to tick her off. This was changed into the above Divorce in the story.
    • Oh, and don't mess with Chris or Joni.
  • Distressed Dude: Her reaction to Christopher's swapping. She turned out to be right, but not for the reasons she thought.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Against all logic, she forces a tie to save Mike that takes herself out, to spite Emma and Amy, and to make it up to Joni for getting her out and not warning her. (Despite not actually being responsible for it)
  • Holier Than Thou: Especially towards Sato and Isabella.
  • Moral Myopia: Michelle can backstab Danielle, Mike, Ryan, Murtz, Emma, Mike, Amy, Matt, Beth, and Lance all she wants, but when Emma/Isabella backstabs her?! note  UNFORGIVABLE!
    • Also taking out her friends Christopher and Joni is 100% not ok and anyone who does deserves to lose disgracefully. Even herself.
  • Never My Fault:
    • How dare David make fun of a divorce that I fabricated for no reason? It couldn't be because my tribe and myself organized for us to have a pointless heated argument with him or anything!
    • Beth is such a Sore Loser! It's ridiculous that she was upset that I ragefully broke my promise to her when her tribe happened to vote out my secret friend!
    • Matt, stop being mad (About breaking my promise to you and voting out your friend)!
    • Lance and Amy, you deserve to be eliminated for voting out my friend! Never mind the fact that he threw the Challenge to save me.
    • Lance, calling me dishonorable is completely untrue, I just happen to have a final 2 deal with everyone else!
    • I was the best player in the game, and I was taken out by random chance! Never mind the fact that there was no reason for me to put myself in harms way!
  • Smug Snake: Calls herself the best player in the game, while sitting in the jury.

    Joni Newman
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Subverted, as she had no idea how much of a hold she truly had on Hogan when she talked him into flipping. She is more strategic than she looks though.
  • Idiot Ball: Gloats to Murtz that he's next.
  • Oh, Crap!: When she realizes she's getting voted out.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: The Satos save her from being eliminated, throwing away a potential lead in the process. She backstabs them the second the merge hits.
    • Hogan had this opinion of her when, one episode after saving her, it came down to Hogan and Michelle to the vote. She chose to spare her alliance-mate Michelle, and Hogan was pissed!

    Lance Mc Hale
  • Big Damn Heroes: Realizes at the last second that Christopher is lying to everyone about Amy. He manages to pull Amy and Hogan to his side at the last second.
  • Honesty Is the Best Policy: His motto, belief, and gameplay.
  • Only Sane Man: The one person to not do anything unethical in the name of Survivor. Impressively he manages to get 6th with this.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Delivers one to Michelle, Joni, and Mike for their unethical gameplay. Naturally this just makes them think he's a Sore Loser.

    Hogan Mueller
  • Didn't Think This Through: Flipping on Sato... really wasn't a great idea, as it resulted in him being the next to go.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Had this reaction to Joni when she voted him out. Apparently he overestimated the strength of their relationship.
  • Romance on the Set: What he thought was going on with him and Joni. She disagreed.

    Matt Carter

    Ryan Rebez
  • Deus ex Machina: Unbeknownst to himself, he's in a minority alliance. Suddenly he's put in a majority alliance while two members of the opposing alliance are sent to an uncertain fate in another tribe.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Constantly talked about how well he was doing, how he was going to take Emma out at the first opportunity, ect. In reality he was on the chopping block from the start, was saved by a twist that gave him the ability to Pagong the tribe swap victims, and was swiftly taken out by Isabella once the merge hit.

Pre-Merge Eliminations

    Beth Sowles
  • Cool Old Lady: For the first 6 episodes at least...
  • Creator's Pest: More like Host's pest, but Mario got really fed up with her antics on her boot episode, and was not please when she carved Dildos (In a game with 16 year-olds)
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Like David, she didn't really have much of a chance when the twist happened.
  • Sore Loser/Took a Level in Jerkass: In her boot episode, where she did everything from try to burn the camp down, to calling Isabella and Michelle Whores for not saving her.
Beth: (Hands Isabella and Michelle carved wooden dildos) "There, you f***ed me, now you can go f*** yourselves."
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her actions before being booted ended up being the leverage Kamiya needed to pull Joni back to their alliance. A fact that infuriated Mario to no end, since it was now a plot point and he'd have to include it in the story, whereas before he planned to cut it out.

    Christopher Collins
  • The Charmer
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Throwing the Challenge to boot Amy backfired hard on him, as he was voted out instead.
  • Malicious Slander: His motus operandi. He managed to taint Danielle, Henry, and Murtz enough to get them out. He tried to slander Amy and Lance, but they each saw through the lies told about one another and sent him packing.
  • Sacrificial Lion: When he and Amy had a showdown early on, it was inevitable that this would happen to at least one of them.
  • The Strategist: One of the best in the game.

    Murtz Jaffer; alias Dave Roth

    David Mc Daniel
  • All There in the Manual: Apparently googled Michelle, ticking her off. In the story, this was translated into making a reference to her divorce.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: The twist really screwed him over, as opposed to everyone else who at least had an inkling of a chance.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Despite apparently being one of Henry's friends, Henry does absolutely nothing to save him. The feeling is mutual though, as David was planning to take Henry out too.
  • Flat Character: He wanted to keep Henry around because he thought he'd make an ideal goat. He changed his mind when Henry proved unstable. He manages to anger Michelle in a doomed attempt to get Mike to flip with them, and that is all we really know about him.
  • The Strategist: His one and only characterization.

    Henry Jenkens
  • Deus ex Machina: Manages to subvert a perfect example of this. Right as he's about to be the next boot, he's suddenly allowed to pick his own new tribe. He's immediately voted out by his handpicked tribe.
  • Foreshadowing: Henry and Elizabeth refer to themselves as Romeo and Juliet. It's pointed out that everyone associated with Romeo and Juliet, including themselves died. Everyone to ever have been on Sato is eliminated before the final tribal council.
    • Additionally, Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy. What could be more tragic for Henry then for his archrival Amy to outlast the other Satos by a wide margin.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Managed to torpedo his tribe into the ground despite being the third boot.
  • Spanner in the Works: Was this for everybody. Danielle, Murtz and Mike are just about the only people that escaped being directly or indirectly harmed by at least one of his decisions. (The former by never coming in contact with him at any point)
  • Touch of Death: Everyone on Sato at any point was voted out, largely thanks to him.

    Danielle Wheelis
  • Being Good Sucks: AND HOW!
  • Butt-Monkey: Every one of the guys mocked her at one point or another. Worse, the entire tribe is led to believe she's to blame for the chaos that happened before her boot, and it is constantly referenced throughout the season.

    Elizabeth Marie
  • All There in the Manual: She and Joni apparently played a short game earlier, and had to be put on separate tribe because of it.
  • Foreshadowing: Referring to herself and Henry as Romeo and Juliet meant more than she probably intended it to.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: For a first boot, she doesn't get a whole lot of focus, and the first episode revolves more around Henry then her.
