Bachelorettes

    Claire
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claire_612.png
A cashier for JojaMart, and later the attendant of the movie theatre's concessions stand, Claire lives in the countryside close to Pelican Town. Stuck in a retail job, she dreams of something better.
  • Ascended Extra: She was a nameless NPC in the original game, this mod expands her to a fully realized character and possible love interest.
  • Butt-Monkey: While working at JojaMart, she mentions being scolded by Morris on previous occasions; she also once falls asleep during work hours due to overwork, and there's an event if you drive Joja out of town in which she will still show up to work and stand flabbergasted at the closed-down JojaMart, saying how nobody told her she was out of a job now.
  • Hidden Depths: After reaching enough hearts with her, you learn that she loves to dance, and she eventually joins Caroline's workout group.
  • Just Friends: She says to Martin when he confesses to her, that he's still young and he has his whole life ahead of him, and that she'll always be his friend.
  • O.C. Stand-in: She had only a few lines in the original game and nothing that would reveal her personality, this mod fleshes her out.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: She always has her hair in a bun, but she lets it down in her movie.
  • Soul-Sucking Retail Job: She doesn't really like her job at JojaMart and mentions how stressful it is for her to deal with unhappy customers.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Her character arc culminates with her realizing her dream of becoming an actress and starring in her own movie.

    Olivia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/olivia_22.png
Olivia is a wealthy widow that lives with her son, Victor, in the Jenkins' Residence. They recently moved Pelican Town after years of living in Zuzu City.
  • Education Mama: Shows strong signs of having been this towards Victor and shows frustration that it hasn't worked out with him getting a job. It's a constant source of tension between them until Victor's 8-heart event.
  • Gossipy Hens: She likes to gossip with Jodi and Caroline, to the point where she openly gossips about Sophia's income in the middle of the town plaza.
  • Lost Lenore: She misses her late husband, Edward, very much. Should the Farmer pursue a relationship with her, she will mention being torn between her newfound love with them and the memory of her husband.
  • Money to Throw Away: She often spends thousands on expensive wine whenever she gets lucky with stock trading, something that is looked down upon by Victor, and she'll occasionally give the farmer a gold ingot whenever they talk to her.
  • Rich Bitch: Zigzagged. She is a genuinely a sweet and loving woman, though some of her dialogue pushes her into this territory. Should you build Pam and Penny a house, she'll say that their old trailer was an eyesore and that she's happy it's gone. Subverted when she tells Caroline and Jodi that she refuses to buy produce from Andy, whose products are such bad quality that they're just shipped off to poorer towns who can't refuse it. It's a bit justified since Pierre refuses to sell Andy's products unless they had a label on them, which forced him to sell somewhere else. However, when talking to her outside of cutscenes, she'll sometimes share her opinion about never buying Andy's produce because she's just looking after her own health. She also defensively justifies it with her just being "honest", suggesting that even the player's farmer character took issue with what she said.
  • Second Love: The Farmer can become this for her, allowing her to find happiness.
  • Socialite: Mostly. Her special request is to host a high-class feast for the Governor, inviting most of the town to attend.
  • Wine Is Classy: Fitting her image of an elegant mature woman, she enjoys drinking wine in her cellar.

    Sophia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sophia_77.png

A shy young woman that lives alone in the Blue Moon Vineyeard. Sophia is an orphan who lost her parents in a tragic car accident and has been dealing with depression for the last few years.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Random dialog when she's being romanced has the farmer give her a head-pat, which she likes.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She is meant to be the youngest bachelorette, and she is even shorter than Abigail, the shortest potential love interest in the base game.
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: She enjoys cosplaying as well as reading manga and watching anime. She even dyed her hair pink to match her favorite anime character.
  • Empty Bedroom Grieving: Early in the game she keeps the room of her late parents as it is, it's not until her 7 heart event, when she starts to get over her depression, that she goes through their stuff, organizing and cleaning their room with the Farmer's help.
  • Heal the Cutie: As you progress with her friendship events, she will steadily get over her depression and start moving on with her life.
  • Otaku Surrogate: She is the only character in the game's world who's a devoted fan of anime and manga.
  • Prone to Tears: She is very prone to crying due to her depression, which elicits sympathy from many other characters.
  • Secretly Wealthy: The Blue Moon Vineyard makes a six-figure yearly income according to Olivia.
  • Shrinking Violet: She is very shy at the beginning with the Farmer, and it will take some time for her to warm up to them. By her 8 heart event she starts to come out of her shell and socialize more with the rest of the townspeople.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Grampleton Orange Chicken. Several of her events and dialogue mention her fondness for the dish; surprisingly, all other characters either hate it or dislike it.
  • Vague Age: More so than other bachelorettes, dialogue implies her to still be in her teens. There's a config option in the mod to make her look slightly younger or older.

Bachelors

    Lance
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lance_54.png
A member of the Last Slash, a guild charged with protecting the Fern Islands. The Farmer first meets him on Ginger Island upon reaching the forge at the volcano.
  • Magic Knight: He is a melee warrior with magical abilities.
  • Mr. Exposition: He provides tidbits of information about different places on Ginger Island, like the forge on the volcano, or the shipwreck on the coast.
  • My God, You Are Serious!: If you marry him and buy the Return Scepter from Krobus, he will have this reaction when you tell him that you got it from a Shadow Person that lives in the sewers.
  • Shirtless Scene: His 10 heart event has the Farmer finding him in this state in his room at the Last Slash Guild's HQ.
  • You Are a Credit to Your Race: He says to Krobus when he first meets him that he's a unique Shadow Person, smarter and friendlier than the ones he's met.

    Victor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/victor_79.png
A young man who lives at home with his mother, Olivia. He recently graduated at the top of his class with a Bachelor's in engineering, yet seems hesitant to leave home.

Townspeople

    Andy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/andy_47.png
A gruff old farmer living at Fairhaven Farm in Cindersap Forest. Andy mostly keeps to himself, and doesn't get along with most of the village's residents, especially Lewis. He is also a devout believer of the Yoba religion.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Despite his loyalty to Joja and animosity towards Pierre, he finds it amusing when Pierre and Morris start fighting.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: He has a crush on Olivia and frequently mentions her. Olivia outright dislikes him.
  • Best Friends: With Jerry, Elizabeth, Alexa, and Susan. Who are the first three, you ask? Exactly.
  • Cycle of Hurting: At the beginning of the game he is stuck in one due to his loyalty to Joja, since their seeds and fertilizer are lower quality, many of his crops fail or turn out to be of poor quality, which in turn hits his income and makes him buy more cheaper seeds and fertilizer from Joja.
  • Does Not Like Spam: The only villager to hate Wine, both types of Blue Moon Wine, and Juice. It's likely that seeing wine and juice reminds him of his friends at Aurora Vineyard, who went out of business during the recession when nobody bought their wine and juice.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: He gets offended when Lewis offers him to use space of the community garden for his crops in order to help him. He also mentions rejecting the town's help since he doesn't want any "government handouts".
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Andy's JojaMart loyalties cause him a lot of trouble at the beginning of the game. Firstly, Pierre won't let Andy sell his produce at Pierre's store unless it's labeled as grown at Andy's farm, likely because Andy uses Joja's lower-quality seeds. Secondly, because JojaMart sells for lower prices than Pierre's, Morris can't pay Andy as much for his produce. These problems make Andy's financial situation extremely unstable, something that causes him no end of distress. Regardless of who wins between Pierre and Morris, though, Andy wins. If Pierre wins then Andy has to buy his seeds from Pierre, and he mentions he makes more money using Pierre's seeds than Joja's. If Morris wins then Andy sells a lot more of his produce because JojaMart is now the only place in town to buy it, and they don't stick a label on his produce that others equate with "probably lousy".
  • Fantastic Racism: He at first expresses a very negative view of the magical creatures and the talking animals, since they took over what used to be the farms and residences of his friends.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: It's not hard to see how he is based on the Deep South, highly religious, U.S. conservative redneck stereotype.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Most of his friends in the town have moved out or died. While he gets along okay with fellow farmers Susan and Sophia and fellow old-timer George, many events show how poorly he gets along with the rest of the town. He blows up at Mayor Lewis for announcing new regulations handed down by the Republic, Olivia mocks him behind his back, and Caroline mentions that Pierre discriminates against him by requiring him (and only him) to label his produce, presumably so other villagers like Olivia can avoid buying it.
  • Hidden Depths: He at first comes across as a coarse, embittered old man. But as his story is revealed, we learn that his farm had fallen into hard economic times; he also used to have a lot of friends in the Valley, but they had to sell their lands and leave as they were hit by the recession.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Befriending him shows him to be a pretty nice guy with a passion for farm life once shaken out of his funk, explaining why he gets along so well with the Valley's other farmers and partially explaining why he doesn't get along so well with the Farmer at first, since he assumes they're a City Mouse playing at farming.
    • He also gives the Farmer three bags of strawberry seeds within the first few days (ordinarily only available halfway into the season), for no other reason than to give you a good start.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He supports Joja because he believes that they'll do a better job revitalizing the valley than Lewis will, and that Lewis doesn't really do much for the town. While he turns out to be correct in a very straightforward way in the Joja route, with Morris being the one who works with the farmer, he's still right in a roundabout way in the Community Center route. The only role Lewis plays in that route is unknowingly instigating the farmer's first meeting with the Junimos, and even then, nothing would've come of it if not for Magnus noticing. (He also holds off on selling the Center to Joja, giving the farmer time to do their thing.) Either way, he's right that Lewis doesn't really do anything to help revitalize the town.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: While talking with the Farmer during one of his events, he'll compare himself to Linus because they're both very passionate about foraging and living off the land. Andy draws the line at living in a tent, though, mentioning that he prefers a house and furniture.
  • The Resenter: At first he resents the Farmer for inheriting a large plot of land from their grandfather free of charge. As the Farmer befriends him, he overcomes these feelings and comes to admire them.
  • To Absent Friends: A non-death version. His 10-heart event has him reminiscing about the other farmers who used to call Stardew Valley home before the economic downturn forced them out.
  • Token Evil Teammate: He is the only villager who unconditionally supports Joja Corp, as he believes that they can do a better job on revitalizing the Valley than Mayor Lewis.
  • Undying Loyalty: Towards Joja Corp; even if the Farmer drives the JojaMart out of town and revitalizes the valley, he'll say that he's never going to stop wearing his favourite cap.

    Susan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/susan_5.png
The owner of Emerald Farm up by the Train Station, Susan is trapped at home until Summer of Year 1 when Joja clears the rockslide blocking the area off.
  • Sweet Tooth: Most of her Loved gifts are sweets, such as cookies, cake, and pie.
  • Vague Age: Some of her dialogue suggests she's one of the older farmers in town, but this isn't immediately apparent upon meeting her (or seeing her portrait), and it's not clear how old she is compared to, say, Andy or Marnie.
  • Wrench Wench: She crafts a good deal of her own equipment for making her artisan goods, and can teach the player how to craft kegs, preserve jars, and casks more cheaply in her ten-heart event.

    Martin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/martin_1_4.png
An upbeat teenager who works at JojaMart. Like Claire, he doesn't live in the valley, and has to take the bus to get there.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: In his love confession to Claire, he says one reason he fell for her is because she has always been nice to him at their work in the JojaMart.
  • Likes Older Women: Downplayed, his heart events show him to have a crush on Claire, the Farmer can point out the age difference, but he will not take it well.
  • Love Confession: He has a heart event which happens if you haven't seen Claire's 8 heart event, in which he confesses his feelings to her.
  • Saying Too Much: When introducing yourself to him, he mentions that you must be the farmer Morris told them about on a recent all-hands-meeting at JojaMart. He immediately says that he shouldn't have told you that...
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: He tries to enjoy his work at JojaMart, constantly saying how it's a stepping stone and a resume-builder.

    Scarlett
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scarlett_4.png
A young woman from Grampleton and Sophia's supportive best friend. Upon reaching enough hearts with Sophia, she starts working as a farmhand at Susan's farm.
  • Best Friend: She's Sophia's best friend, as she comes often to Pelican Town from Grampleton to visit her and help her with the vineyard.
  • Bit Character: At first she didn't have much characterization beyond being Sophia's best friend, but with version 1.14.9 in she became a fully friendable character, got her own heart events, and was fleshed out more.
  • Call to Agriculture: She admits that farming is more than a hobby to her, and would love to start her own farm. Her skill is the real deal, as Sophia, Susan and even Andy have nothing but compliments to her work ethic.
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: She shares this trait with her best friend, Sophia.
  • Informed Flaw: She reveals in her 6 heart event that she has ADHD, the only indication of this was her father getting mad at her for forgetting to put back his tools in his garage in that same heart event.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: She is mainly in the game to provide Sophia with emotional support and company.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Grampleton Orange Chicken, a trait she shares exclusively with her best friend, Sophia.

Adventurer's Guild

    Alesia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alesia_6.png
An archer from Castle Village who often visits the valley's Adventurer's Guild.

    Camilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/camilla_74.png
An aloof, yet immensely powerful witch who acts as the guardian of Castle Village, maintaining the barrier that protects it from the monsters of the Crimson Badlands. She takes a keen interest in the player.
  • Barrier Maiden: She is tasked with maintaining the magical barrier protecting Castle Village.
  • Creating Life: She uses magic to bring the Kittyfish into existence.
  • Everyone Has Standards: There's a "mature" event in which if the Farmer is romancing both Olivia and Victor at the same time, she will tell them that despite the fact that she in the past has played with multiple relationships at the same time, romancing a mother and her son is too much, even for her.
  • Foil: To Magnus Rasmodius. Magnus is serious, old-fashioned, and comes across as dismissive, but once you get past that he's a pretty nice, friendly guy who takes an interest in the farmer's development and teaches them a lot of useful things. Camilla is irreverent, flighty, and acts like a teasing Cool Big Sis, but underneath that she's a childish jerk who seems more interested in screwing with people than doing her job.
  • The Gadfly: Enjoys teasing both the player and Rasmodius.
  • Hot Witch: She is a very attractive witch.
  • Lascivious Beauty Mark: She has a beauty mark, and it's heavily implied by her dialogue that she Really Gets Around.
  • Teleport Spam: Her preferred trick. She almost never stays in the same place for more than a few sentences.
  • Womanchild: Probably the best way to sum up her personality. Her events and remarks from other characters strongly suggest she's lazy, impulsive, insensitive, and childish - She'd rather teleport than walk more than a few feet, she tends to use the Castle Village adventurers' guild to do things and put in appearances she should be making, she loves trolling Rasmodius with a pet name he clearly hates, she leaves a regional security meeting with Rasmodius and Marlon to chat with the farmer because she's bored, and when Rasmodius tells her he taught the farmer to make warp points she shows up at the farmer's door a few days later to basically kidnap them and force them to set up a warp point on Galdoran. At one point Rasmodius even scolds her like a child to get her to stop getting on his nerves. Somewhat justified because she's the most powerful mage in the region and the only one capable of maintaining the Castle Village barrier, so nobody can really discipline her or make her take responsibility because she's irreplaceable and she knows it.

    Isaac
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/isaac_86.png
A quiet member of the Adventurer's Guild from Castle Village.
  • Badass Boast: He boasts to the Farmer having reached the bottom of the mines too many times to count.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a a scar upon his left eye, and he is proud of it, as is his proof of venturing and surviving the Crimson Badlands.

    Jadu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jadu_1.png
A young wizard from Castle Village.
  • Bit Character: He doesn't have much characterization, and he is relegated to mainly walking around Castle Village Outpost.

    Morgan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/morgan_8.png
A magically-gifted non-binary child who serves as Magnus' apprentice starting in Year 3. They sincerely want to learn, but at the same time they just want to be a kid.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: They won't appear until Year 3.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Discussed Trope, Morgan identifies as non-binary, in their 4 heart event the Farmer and them explain what this means to Vincent and Jas when the latter 2 aforementioned characters ask Morgan if they're a boy or a girl.
  • Invisible Parents: They mention missing their parents, who, for some reason, choose not to visit them in the Wizard's Tower.
  • Naughty Is Good: They like to show-off magic and make impressions of Rasmodius, who often responds by chastising them.

Other

    Apples
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/apples.png
An excitable young Junimo who has taken up residence in the abandoned Aurora Vineyard. He appears after the player completes a secret bundle for him.
  • Book Dumb: Neither the farmer nor Rasmodius can make sense of his scroll, leading the latter to consult Camilla to figure out what language it is. Camilla reports that it is the Junimo language, it's just that badly-written. Justified as Camilla suspects Apples is a child.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: In-universe. Apples has no birthday, doesn't go to the movies, stays in an out-of-the-way location, and doesn't benefit from town events, so the only way to befriend him quickly is to talk to him every day and give him Starfruit as often as the game will let you.
  • Fluffy Tamer: One of his friends is the Bear.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Being apparently young for his species, Apples is confused to discover partway through his Heart Events that the other Junimos are snubbing him for having converted Aurora Vineyard into a home for himself after the Farmer fulfilled his scroll request (for two hundred starfruits) instead of using that same magic to repair it for the Farmer as thanks. It is implied that the latter approach is very important to the Junimos, and that they see Apples' actions as selfish or inappropriate.
  • Invisible to Normals: Being a Junimo, he's invisible to people without magic sensitivity, in one event he interacts with the Farmer on a field and Andy, who's passing nearby is confussed about the Farmer's behaviour. And the fact that Abigail can see him is the trigger for the reveal that she is in fact the Wizard's biological daughter in the mod's storyline.
  • Permanently Missable Content: He won't appear if the player restored the Community Center with the Joja route.
  • Third-Person Person: He always refers to himself in third person.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Starfruit, it's the only gift he loves.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Him befriending Abigail and her ability to see him is the trigger for a chain of events which ends with the reveal that she is in fact Rasmodius' biological daughter in this mod.
  • You No Take Candle: He is a Jumino that speaks English with the Farmer, but he doesn't fully grasp the language, which makes him speak in this manner.

    Claus and Angelica
A pair of forest sprites who live in the secret Sprite Spring. They take a liking to the player due to the Spring being hidden to those lacking forest magic.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Angelica is the crop fairy who occasionally visits the farm at night but had no dialogue lines whatsoever, this mod gives her a voice.
  • The Voice: Neither of them are seen on screen when they converse with the player.

    Peaches
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peaches_3.png
A Junimo and a friend of Apples'.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Like Apples, she won't show up if the player takes the Joja route.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She's a female Junimo who's the color pink.
  • The Voiceless: Peaches only appears during Apples' heart events and has no lines of dialogue, speaking only in untranslated Jumino language.
