Antarctic Empire

The Antarctic Empire is a faction formed by Technoblade, located in Antarctica, and one of the most powerful on the server. It is highly militaristic and aims to take over as much of the server as possible, successfully executing a plan for world domination by claiming a large majority of the map, before a law was set in place foiling their plans post-Saint-Malo Trials. Even after the trial, they still lay claim to a large chunk of the server, and are a feared entity.

Their rival faction is Business Bay.

• Badass Crew: The Antarctic Empire are feared and known for their power, and end up taking over the world on Day 8, by overtaking a large amount of the map.
• Big Bad: The Antarctic Empire can be considered this, especially if you watch from Business Bay's POV. The entire server fears them, and they go as far as to claim nearly the entire map as their territory at one point.
• Big Fancy Castle: The giant, intricate castle in the heart of the nation's capital, Port-aux-Francais.
• Color Motif: Blue, representing ice.
• Courtroom Episode: One takes place when the Antarctic Empire was put on trial for taking over the world with Wilbur Soot as the Judge and many players voluntarily taking Jury Duty.
• Take Over the World: The Antarctic Empire's goal... which they temporarily succeed in doing when Techno discovers he can exploit the faction claim plugin in order to claim without using faction power by claiming the perimeter, causing the game to treat everything inside that perimeter as part of the claim.

Technoblade

In-game name: Technoblade
Preferred name: Techno
"When have I ever branded myself as a nice guy? I am the Blood God. I take no prisoners. I am the cyberbully. I just got off from stealing presents from orphans on Hypixel... I have NEVER been a nice guy."

Technoblade is the leader of the Antarctic Empire, and one of the most feared players on the server. He is extremely monotone and sarcastic.

His goals include going to war with as many factions as possible, take over both the world^note which he very briefly succeeds at and the moon^note Minecraft's "End" dimension, and turning all of France into a giant chunk error.

• Big Bad: As the leader of the dreaded Antarctic Empire, and his PVP skills, Techno is terrifying to the rest of the server, with many considering him the main villain.
• Card-Carrying Villain: Technoblade qualifies with this monologue.

Philza

In-game name: Ph1LzA
Preferred name: Phil

Phil is the co-founder of the Antarctic Empire. He is also the server's only World Police Officer. He is very aggressive and chaotic, much more so than even Technoblade, often going out of his way to cause problems and conflict.

• Disproportionate Retribution: A recurring trend with him.
  • He kills Spifey for seemingly no reason, other than him flying around a stronghold that Phil's faction had claimed.
  • Kara invites Phil to her faction after he dies to an airstrike, saying "Trouble in paradise?". He retaliates by nuking the Villager Adoption Agency.
  • Phil, frustrated after Wilbur tricks him multiple times, proceeds to kidnap Wilbur's dog and use it as a hostage.
  • When Phil loses a bet for just one diamond in Business Bay's casino, he threatens to steal all of the casino's diamonds, and then placed another bet, this time on Tommy's life. After a long stalemate fight with TimeDeo, Tommy finally joins in to try to stop the fight, and Phil nukes him.
• The Dragon: He serves as this to Technoblade's Big Bad, being basically the Antarctic Empire's second-in-command, and being just as destructive and chaotic.
• Green and Mean: Philza wears a green outfit, and kidnaps Wilbur's dog and blackmails Sophietexas.
• Hypocrite: He once claimed he intended to prevent conflict on the server... while being a major instigator of unnecessary conflicts.
• Nuke 'em: Philza has used nuclear weapons for unjustified reasons in multiple instances, including nuking the Villager Adoption Agency over a faction invite, and Business Bay over losing a single diamond to their casino.
• Red Baron: "Angel of Death" and "The Hardcore God".
• Shout-Out: Philza's skin is Kisuke Urahara from Bleach.

Cxlvxn

In-game name: Cxlvxn
Preferred name: Calvin

Calvin was the Antarctic Empire's secret weapon, a surprise member whose identity was hidden for a significant amount of time. He is known primarily for his PVP skills, and his goal is to aid the Empire in battle.

• Secret Weapon: Brought in to help the Empire in their conflicts, Calvin's identity is kept a secret for a good while, to the point that fans speculated on who the secret member of the Antarctic is.

Wisp

In-game name: wispexe
Preferred name: Wisp

Wisp was initially a member of Business Bay, its first member besides Tommy, before leaving due to viewing Tommy as an incompetent leader. He betrays the faction to join the Antarctic Empire, which he stays loyal to for the rest of the series. His only real goals are to help his faction in whatever way he can.

• Color Motif: Blue, from his mask and outfit. It matches the nation he defects to.
• Defector from Decadence: Wisp leaves Business Bay because he sees Tommy as incompetent and thinks he picks too many battles.
• Evil Former Friend: To Tommy, post-betrayal. Wisp still wishes to be friends with Tommy, however, Tommy is extremely hurt by his actions and views him as an enemy.
• Heel–Face Turn: Wisp betrays Business Bay. However, this might be more of a Hazy-Feel Turn, since neither Business Bay or the Antarctic Empire are really... "good guys".
• Nice Guy: Despite his betrayal, Wisp is generally a kind person and ultimately just wants to help his faction the best he can.
• Regretful Traitor: Near the end of the server, he makes up with TommyInnit after betraying his faction for the Antarctic Empire.

Business Bay

Business Bay is a faction formed by TommyInnit, located in Russia. They are often considered on the weaker end of the major factions, as they commonly lose wars they take part in. All of its members wear a suit and tie as their uniform. They have fought in every battle in the Great SMPEarth War.

Their rival faction is the Antarctic Empire.

• Broken Win/Loss Streak: Nearly every battle Business Bay takes part in is a loss... that is, until they defeat JoshA20 in the God War.
• Color Motif: Red. It is present in the country's flag and all of its members save for Bitzel wear red neckties.
• Sharp-Dressed Man: Their uniform is a suit and tie.
• Vitriolic Best Buds: Tommy and TimeDeo are best friends and factionmates, but often get into petty squabbles.

TommyInnit

In-game name: TommyInnit
Preferred name: Tommy

TommyInnit is the founder of Business Bay and one of the youngest members of the server. He is considered an annoyance by many others on the server, and he seems to take himself very seriously and thinks he is very important. He tends to get betrayed by his allies quite often. He has the most enemies of anyone on the server.

His goals are somewhat vague, though it is likely his main goal is just to win all of the wars he takes part in. He also wants to build a casino in Business Bay, which he succeeds in doing.

• Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: When he says "Cumin Squad".
• The Baby of the Bunch: Tommy is one of the server's youngest members, and he uses this to his advantage, especially against his faction-mate TimeDeo. He dislikes being treated like a child, yet enjoys using his age to make others look bad.
• Cannot Talk to Women: This is a Running Gag with Tommy, especially since he was only 15 at the time.
• Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Tommy is an inverted example. He just can't seem to stop getting betrayed, with his ally Wisp leaving him for the Antarctic Empire, and other potential allies betraying him at the first chance they get.
• Con Man: Tommy builds a casino with the intention of scamming players out of valuable items.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Icebomb calls Tommy "stupid and poop", prompting Tommy to say he's going to kill him.
• The Gadfly: He seems to love annoying people from other factions and causing problems.
• Hot-Blooded: He has a serious problem with getting mad over silly things, including but not limited to being slightly insulted in any way. This usually results in a petty war, or Disproportionate Retribution.
• Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Tommy was perhaps one of the most hostile, yet also one of the weakest players on the server, constantly antagonizing everyone around him and getting absolutely trounced on the regular. His faction, Business Bay, followed a similar pattern of behavior. Tommy was also fifteen years old, so him trying to bully the adults of the server around ended up being endearingly ineffective. Out-of-universe, Techno actually praised him for this behavior, saying that a server like this needed a villain to keep things interesting, and he was very glad Tommy took that role upon himself.
• Karmic Butt-Monkey: Tommy almost always deserves what comes his way due to his tendency to go out of his way to cause problems for other players. He never learns from his consequences and just continues doing the same things anyways.
• Kill the God: TommyInnit kills JoshA20 and then receives a command block, which he first uses to be a Gravity Master.
• Minor Insult Meltdown: Icebomb calls Tommy "stupid and poop", which Tommy reacts to by telling Icebomb he'll kill him, getting out a plane, and telling Deo to get in.
• Small Name, Big Ego: Tommy considers himself to be great, despite his faction constantly losing wars, and people not taking him seriously due to his age.
• Young and in Charge: Tommy is 15 during SMPEarth, and is the leader of the Business Bay faction.

TimeDeo

In-game name: TimeDeo
Preferred name: Deo

Deo is effectively Business Bay's second-in-command, and their main source of intimidation, as he is one of the strongest server members. He is loyal to Business Bay, although he's told Tommy that he only doesn't betray them as he has no good reason to. He is known for his lack of mercy, killing anyone who provokes him even slightly.

His primary goal on the server is to kill as many players as he can, but especially Grunk and Techno. He often kills Icebomb for no reason other than it's funny and that Icebomb is easy to kill.

• Always Second Best: TimeDeo has an infamous "curse" that invokes this trope.
• Berserk Button: Insulting his Skyblock skills seems to be his one major anger trigger, which makes sense given how much his real-life counterpart plays it — having the highest hour count of any Skyblock player multiple years in a row.
• The Big Guy: Deo serves as this to Business Bay, which is known as one of the weaker factions. Deo is one of the strongest and most feared members on the server, and often is the one to threaten or intimidate people who cause problems for the Bay.
• Blood Knight: TimeDeo's self-admitted main goal on the server is to kill everyone, particularly Grunk and Techno.
• Character Catchphrase: "Kill."
• Color Motif: Orange, from his casual outfit.
• Crazy-Prepared: One of the reasons TimeDeo is so feared on the server is his massive amount of wealth in regards to items. He's potentially one of the richest players, and has the most golden apples on the server.
• The Dreaded: Deo is one of the server's most feared players, due to his PVP skills and wealth.
• Genius Bruiser: In addition to being an extremely capable fighter, he's also very intelligent when it comes to planning and strategy.
• Hot-Blooded: Deo usually won't get visibly angry or upset, but he will kill just about any player who annoys or provokes him, no matter how minor.
• Kick the Dog: He has killed Icebomb over a hundred times, with no real reasoning other than he thinks it's fun and easy to be mean to him.
• Kill Tally: He keeps track of how many times he's killed Icebomb and Quig.
• Minor Insult Meltdown: Wisp calls TimeDeo bad at Skyblock, leading to the beginning of the New Year's Day War.
• Number Two: He serves as this to Business Bay. Despite joining later than Luke, he is treated as an authority figure by the other faction members, and his status as The Big Guy makes him tend to serve as the person in the faction that others actually fear and listen to, despite Tommy's status as leader. Tommy seems to have no issue with this.
• Red Baron: "Epic Slayer".
• Token Adult: Deo is the only adult member of Business Bay, which may be part of the reason why he's viewed as the second-in-command despite not actually being the second member to join.

LukeOrSomething

In-game name: LukeOrSomething
Preferred name: Luke

Luke is the first person besides Wisp to join Business Bay, formerly being a member of the Inquisition. He is considered one of the "chiller" members of Business Bay and has many allies even outside of the faction, including Chip, one of the server admins.

His main goal is to take down the Antarctic Empire.

• Pals with Jesus: He is allies with Chip, one of the server's admins.

Bitzel

In-game name: Bitzel
Preferred name: Bitzel

Bitzel is a member of Business Bay and is best known for being very smart, often creating elaborate devices. He is one of the more "chill" members of Business Bay, and is also the most creative of the group.

His main goal is to eventually catch someone with one of his traps, which he eventually succeeds in doing. Ironically, however, he gets trapped more often than he succeeds in trapping other people.

• Gadgeteer Genius: Bitzel often makes intricate contraptions, particularly traps.
• Lured into a Trap: Bitzel's main goal is to trap someone. He later successfully kills SalC1 in a trap.
• Nice Guy: Bitzel is one of the calmer and kinder members of Business Bay, alongside Luke.

Log Lagoon

Literally The Best

Log Lagoon is a faction formed by InkTea, and is located in Russia. They claim to be the best, yet have no allies, only enemies. They are religious, following a deity known as Slam.

Grunk

In-game name: GrunksPromise
Preferred name: Grunk

Grunk is a member of Log Lagoon, formerly being a member of the Inquisition, and one of the younger members of SMPEarth. He initially wanted to team up with the Antarctic Empire, though he seems to have changed his mind.

He has no known goals, though it is presumed that he wishes to expand his faction.

Newfoundland

Newfoundland is a faction formed by Wilbur Soot, and is located in Canada. It is best known for having a wide variety of flowers, leading traders to often visit. People often like the flowers so much that they give them to Wilbur as a gift. A Dutch-style city is planned to be built at the heart of the faction's territory, along with a train station, intending to be welcoming to anyone who wishes to visit.

The faction boasts many myths and pieces of folklore, such as the Mushroom Stew story. They have quite a few allies, but are an enemy to both Business Bay and the Antarctic Empire.

• Animal Motifs: Dogs, as they make up a majority of the nation's residents!
• Nature Lover: The nation is known for its nature, especially flowers, and the residents love it.
• Take a Third Option: Despite most wars involving factions taking either the side of the Bay or the Empire, Newfoundland considers both of them its enemies.

Wilbur Soot

In-game name: WilburSoot
Preferred name: Wilbur

Wilbur Soot is a retired server admin and the founder of Newfoundland.

One of his goals is building the Transatlantic Median Railroad to connect Newfoundland to France in order to sell in-game advertising, with the intent on making it his primary source of income on the server. His primary goal is to be a man of the law, as he regrets the crimes he committed on SMPLive.

• Black Bead Eyes: When comparing to his other servermates' skins, Wilbur's simple bead-like eyes allows him to stand out the most.
• Unfortunate Names: He tends to be one of the main culprits of this.
  • Wilbur named his dog Pee Dog. His other dogs were called Poo Dog and Cum Dog.
  • Wilbur also suggested the name "Cummie Squad" for his alliance with Charlie Soot and TommyInnit. It was changed to "Cumin Squad".^note Named after the cumin spice.
    Tommy: Wilbur, when my mum asks me what I was doing tonight, and I say "I was participating in "Cummie Squad" with a 23-year-old man", how do you think she'll feel, then?
• Undignified Death: During the battle with Big Bertha, the upgraded Ender Dragon, Wilbur died to a random enderman away from the battle.

Sophietexas

In-game name: sophietexas
Preferred name: Sophie

"If she had been smarter, stronger, funnier, quicker, or just less “Sophie”, maybe things would be different. The loneliness paralyzed her. She let the world crumble around her. The dogs could only do so much."

Sophietexas is a member of Newfoundland, and is in charge of the colony Brittany, which is filled with things both she and Wilbur love — dogs, flowers, and other beautiful parts of nature.

Her main goals are to make Brittany a powerful and gorgeous colony, befriend as many people as she can on the server, and have an abundance of pets.

• Color Motif: Rainbow, as is shown all over her skin.
• Cope by Creating: In the post-SMP short stories, it is said that Sophie builds to cope with her loneliness.
• I Choose to Stay: Supplementary short stories reveal that after the end of SMPEarth, Sophie stays behind to take care of Newfoundland's dogs after everyone else has moved on. It is stated that she makes her temporary home in the former headquarters of the Antarctic Empire.
• I Just Want to Have Friends: Sophie has little interest in the server's conflicts and would rather just make friends.
• Nice Guy: Sophie is generally kind and wants to befriend as many people as she can.

San Diego

DaLandOfDiego

San Diego is a faction founded by cscoop in the California area. It borders several other nations, including Packle (north) and Pen Island (south). Tommy at one point succeeds in making a deal with the faction, before backfiring when he kills Travis. Because of this, Tommy is banned from the country. The nation features a large wall along the border with Packle, which Cooper claims is to protect the nearby farmland.

Cooper is the founder of San Diego. He intends on building a replica of Disneyland on the server, and often builds various things in San Diego.

Travis is a member of San Diego, and its co-owner. His main goal on the server is to deprive the San Diegan Africa colony of its valuable resources. He dislikes swearing, and is one of few players that refuses to swear.

• Adaptation Species Change: Travis's skin is a monkey, but he's usually drawn as a human, a humanoid with dog ears and a tail, or as his thumbnails have him: an anthropomorphic shiba inu.
• Angry Guard Dog: Played for Laughs when Tommy shows up in San Diego, with Cooper threatening to sic Travis on him, who aggressively barks at him through the window.
• Animal Motifs: Travis is associated with both dogs and monkeys, from his branding and skin respectively.
• Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Travis doesn't like to swear, and usually will substitute swear words with something else.

Preferred name: Jordan or Sparklez

Sparklez is the founder of Fallen Kingdom, a faction formerly known as the Kingdom of Jordan. He has many allies on the server, and very few enemies. He is considered to canonically be the strongest player in the server story-wise, as he was able to defeat the Green Cumulon, which even the admins couldn't defeat.

• Mythology Gag: CaptainSparklez founds the Kingdom of Jordan, later renamed Fallen Kingdom^note after his song, with the capital called "Creeper, Amman"^note after his song "Revenge".

Charlie Soot

In-game name: CharlieSH
Preferred name: Charlie

Charlie is a member of SootHouse and the founder of the Kpop faction, located in Korea. His only real goals are building a Korean-inspired city and keeping peace with the other members of the server. He is an ally of fellow SootHouse member Wilbur Soot. He is known for his love of watermelons and hatred for parrots.

• Cloudcuckoolander: Charlie Soot forms a faction themed around and named after K-Pop, and even builds an airport named the "BTS International Airport", after the K-Pop boy band.
• Nice Guy: Charlie is generally kind to others, and would prefer to keep peace on the server.

Eret

In-game name: The_Eret
Preferred name: Eret

"With every vibe comes a check, and you, sir... just failed the vibe check."

Eret is the leader of the faction Ursus, and is known for being the server's best photographer, often taking detailed screenshots of builds and places around SMPEarth. He has an extreme dislike for Hawaii and wishes to destroy it. He is the adopted father of Allanah, alongside Scot Griswold.

His goals on the server include forming a company known as the Eret Corporation, and establishing colonies in Asia, among others.

Icebomb

Icebomb is a former member of the Inquisition, and is somewhat of a punching bag for other players on the server, often being mistreated and attacked for no real reason. He has a rivalry with TommyInnit and aims to make a business much better than Tommy could ever create. He has many enemies and very few allies, though those allies include Chip.

• Butt-Monkey: Icebomb is very often mistreated for laughs, particularly by Business Bay and especially Deo, who has killed him over a hundred times.
• Color Motif: Blue, from his skin.
• Hated by All: And not really for any justified reason — people tend to just find him annoying and easy to push around. While he does have a few allies, they're vastly outnumbered by his many, many enemies.
• Pals with Jesus: One of his only allies is Chip, one of the server admins.
• They Killed Kenny Again: TimeDeo has killed Icebomb around a hundred times.

Tubbo

In-game name: Tubbo_
Preferred name: Tubbo

Tubbo is the founder of Gambojeistan. His goals on the server include building a volcano and several islands. He also wants to kill TommyInnit.

• Cloudcuckoolander: Tubbo's main goal is to build a plastic volcano, for whatever reason. He also goes out of his way to help set up a date for Kara Corvus and Wisp, making food for them to eat in McDonald's.
• The Scapegoat: Tubbo ends up being this when Quig finds the trap that TimeDeo built and confronts him about it.
• Shout-Out: Tubbo's skin is Tweek Tweak from South Park.

Admins

Chippledipple

In-game name: chippledipple
Preferred name: Chip
"I'll see you in Laramie."

Chip is one of two admins of SMPEarth, and the server's creator. They are completely unaffiliated with any faction, although they have been involved with several in the past. They largely do not participate in server activities unless absolutely necessary.

• Physical God: Being one of the server's admins means that Chip has abilities that no other player has, barring Josh. While they typically don't get involved unless they have to, they can and will put a stop to certain behavior from players using these abilities if need be.

JoshA20

In-game name: JoshA20
Preferred name: Josh

Josh is one of two admins of SMPEarth. He does not speak, and occasionally will sabotage or go to war with the players of the server for fun.
