    Main Characters 

Ryouga

A young man who aims to find his missing father and the only way he can do so is with the help of a mysterious figure in the clouds known only as Arcades. With his Burst Heart, Ryouga can transform into a human-Pokémon hybrid. His Pokémon is Zekrom.


Miruto

A young woman who is the member of a currently unknown group whoÂ’s job is to investigate crimes. She is one of Ryouga's traveling companions.


  • Dumb Blonde: A subversion. She's actually established to be quite careful and even berates Ryouga when he's about to do something irrational.

Yappy

Yappy is a young journalist that aims to expose the evil in the world. Despite his appearing to be a Pansage, he is actually a normal human.


  • Kleptomaniac Hero: He tries to steal Burst Hearts on more than one occasion.
  • Punny Name: His name sounds similar to Yanappu, Pansage's Japanese name.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: His entire family has the same appearance as him. Then again, it is possible he made them up.

Karuta

Karuta is a ninja that Ryouga met at the Burst Warrior Tournament, Burst Heart Survival. During the tournament, Karuta asks Ryouga to help him buy a special medicine to heal his village that is dying from a disease. After they succeed, Karuta joins Ryouga's group. His Pokémon is Accelgor.


  • Took a Level in Badass: He started out as a weak crybaby, but after Ryouga helped him, he became a great fighter.

Rug

A thief that attacked Ryouga's group to steal Ryouga's Burst Heart but failed. After being defeated, she took a liking to Ryouga and joined his group. Her Pokémon is Purrloin.


    Great Gavel 

Commander Yaza

A large, tough and intimidating man who was one of RyougaÂ’s first opponents; he was the first to be defeated by RyougaÂ’s Burst form. He uses a large Ararebo to smash his opponents and occasionally sets it on fire for more damage.


Major Hilgreitz

The first of the Great Gavel's Seven Warriors to make an appearance. He challenged Ryouga to a battle on top of Mt. Serables and was defeated. His Pokémon is Excadrill.


  • Ax-Crazy: Though, according to him, the other Seven Warriors are even worse than him.

Hariru

The second of the Great Gavel's Seven Warriors to make an appearance. He claims that Arcades had killed his father and destroyed his hometown when he was only a child and is out for revenge. His Pokémon is Zorua, which later evolves into a Zoroark.


Carola

The third of Great Gavel's Seven Warriors to make an appearance, a young girl who is shown to be very attached to Hariru and has a brother-sister bond with him. Her Pokémon is Emboar.


  • Beware the Nice Ones: Compared to Hariru, she has more sympathetic traits, but she can still kick your ass.
  • Big Eater: The very first thing she is seen doing has her stuffing a Burst heart in her mouth. This is justified, as her Burst uses up calories.
  • Creepy Child: She turns into one of these whenever she gets serious.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Literally. Clashes with her Emboar Burst which has contrasting color motifs.
  • Meaningful Name: Possibly from calor, which is Latin for heat.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Literally blue to Hariru's red.
  • Token Good Teammate: Among the Seven Generals, she's the most-sympathetic and cutesy one, if not for her acts before leaving Great Gavel.

Zengai

The fourth of Great Gavel's Seven Warriors to make an appearance. He attacked Rend when Ryouga was training with him to steal Rend's Burst Heart but was easily defeated by Ryouga. His Pokémon is Carracosta.

Rukamu

A member of Great Gavel that attacked Ryouga and company on bridge. His Pokémon is Scraggy.


Kigyan

One of the Seven Warriors of Great Gavel. After Fraud was put into recovery due to his wounds in the Burst Heart Survival, he, along with Lukov and Toga, decided to take over Great Gavel and were branded traitors as a result. His Pokémon is Druddigon.


  • Punny Name: His name sounds similar to Crimgan, Druddigon's Japanese name.

Lukov

One of the Seven Warriors of Great Gavel. Along with Kigyan and Toga, he decided to take over Great Gavel during Fraud's recovery and were branded traitors as a result. His Pokémon is Mandibuzz.


Toga

The last of the Seven Warriors of Great Gavel. After Fraud was put into recovery due to his wounds in the Burst Heart Survival, he and his teammates Kigyan and Lukov decided to take over Great Gavel and were branded traitors as a result. His Pokémon is Eelektross.


Amu

One of the Three Generals of Great Gavel. Despite being a young child, he's powerful enough to be among the highest-ranked members of the organization. Was called upon by Fraud's strategical advisor after three of the Seven Generals decided to mutiny. His Pokémon is Cobalion.


  • Bratty Half-Pint: He runs around spraying people with a water pistol to annoy them. Though this is the least of his offenses.

Ganku

One of the Three Generals of Great Gavel. An imposing man with a penchant for reading. Was called upon by Fraud's strategical advisor after three of the Seven Generals decided to mutiny. His Pokémon is Terrakion.


  • Badass Bookworm: He's first introduced concentrated on a book. The next minute, he's seen kicking major asses.
  • Hijacking Cthulhu: The Terrakion he uses as his Burst.

Rovy/Robbie

One of the Three Generals of Great Gavel and the only female one among them. Was called upon by Fraud's strategical advisor after three of the Seven Generals decided to mutiny. Her Pokémon is Virizion.


    Others 

Rend

An old friend of Ryouga's father that once fought Great Gavel when he was younger. Currently runs a dojo and lives with his wife and two children. His Pokémon is Boldore.


Shin

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Mienshao.


Afron

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Bouffalant.


  • Punny Name: His name sounds similar to Buffron, Bouffalant's Japanese name.
  • Temporary Bulk Change: His Burst form looks massively built compared to his regular human form.

Rurimaru

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. During the tournament, she develops a crush on Shin, much to his chagrin. Her Pokémon is Jellicent.


Gizairu

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Klang.


  • Punny Name: His name sounds similar to Gigiaru, Klang's Japanese name.

Dokan

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Garbodor.


Pikke

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. Her Pokémon is Emolga.


Rabine

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Beheeyem.


Battsu

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Golurk.


Fraud

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. As it turns out, Fraud is actually the boss of Great Gavel and the true murderer of Hariru's father. His Pokémon is Bisharp, and later, Reshiram.


  • Older Than They Look: He's actually a middle-aged man who turned himself younger using Great Gavel's technological advancements and the energy of Pokémon.
  • * Taken for Granite: How he's defeated. Every single Arcades will eventually turn into stone, and Fraud was no exception.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In chapter 65, where he uses the power of Amu, Rovy, and Ganku's Bursts Hearts to create a "perfect body".
    • He takes another in chapter 73, where he becomes the next Arcades, gaining the ability to use the Burst of any Pokemon he wants to. However, this comes at great cost.

Eurou

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Braviary.


Rush

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Cofagrigus.


Loren

A contestant of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival. His Pokémon is Beartic.


Pauline

The announcer of the Burst Warrior tournament, Burst Heart Survival.


Danke

A man trying to impress the girl he loves, Rurura, by joining a Strongman tournament to win a second prize Burst Heart for her. While he isn't a Burst Warrior, he used the Burst Heart prize to face Ryouga in the final round. His Pokémon is Throh.


Sabin

A bounty hunter who was hired to prevent Ryouga from reaching Arcades. He claims to have been enlisted by Garyuu, Ryouga's father. His Pokémon is Sigilyph.


  • Hero Antagonist: He's an ally of Garyuu who fought Great Gavel with him in the past. The reason he was hired by him was to prevent Ryouga from obtaining Arcades's power, since that would trap him in the fighting lifestyle permanently.
  • Red Baron: The Black Whirlwind Without a Face.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Has one very reminiscent of his Burst form, Sigilyph.

Top
