Neon Mask's Channel

     As a whole
  • Badass Crew: You don't get into a Bully Hunter-organization if you don't have some way of kicking serious ass.
  • Bully Hunter: All of them, but especially Seongbin/Neon Mask, specialize in hunting trapping and brutally punishing bullies who made their hit-list. And they encourage others to follow their lead.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Each of the mods has a color assigned to them. Sorrow is yellow, Joy is green,Pleasure is dark green, Rage is red and Neon Mask is purple.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Since the bullies they go up against rarely fight fair, they have no qualms about using dirty tricks either.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: All of them wear masks with neon faces on them to hide their identities when streaming. Downplayed, as they're only malevolent towards bullies and those who voluntarily associate with them.
  • Morality Chain: The moderators serve as this to Neon Mask. It's not only their job to protect him, but also to pull him back if he gets too lost in his blood-lust. Before recruiting a new moderator, Seongbin even sets up grueling tests for the candidate to see if they have the self-restraint needed for the job.
  • Odd Friendship: Their personalities clash pretty often, but they're a loyal team of vigilante fighters who stick together through thick and thin.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni:
    • Neon Mask is the erratic, hyper red oni to the rest of his team's much more calm blue oni, at least in their live-streams.
    • Sejin becomes the hot-blooded red oni to the rest of the mods and Seongbin himself once he joins the channel.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: They're not above needling each other. Not even Seongbin, who is the group's leader and the mods' boss is safe from being made fun of. Best demonstrated in his "interviews" with the mods, all of which end with the interviewee attacking him in some way or form.

     Seongbin /Neon Mask

Seongbin Cha/ "Neon Mask"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_seongbin.PNG
Click here to see him as Neon Mask

The main protagonist of the comic. He was once a peaceful, friendly Ordinary Highschool Student, until an accident caused by a bully ended his little sister's life. After that, the once mild Seongbin transformed into a revenge-driven lunatic, dead-set on eradicating every single bully and bring an end to Trollfam, the organization mainly responsible for the popularity of bully-culture.

  • Anti-Hero: Seongbin has no illusions about his status as a brutal vigilante. As Mod Sorrow puts it, "No one sees killing pests as some moral act."
  • Berserk Button: While bullies in general piss him off, his fuse is especially short with those bullies that try to weasel themselves out of punishment via Freudian Excuse.
  • The Dreaded: Neon Mask is infamous and feared among bullies. Even big names would rather avoid his wrath. Taesop nearly faints when he realizes who it is that has him cornered.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Has this constantly. It's a sign of how much Sebin's death destroyed him mentally.
  • Extreme Mêlée Revenge: He tracked down the bully responsible for the bus accident that killed his sister and then first beat his friends, then the bully himself within an inch of his life. As Neon Mask he has made this his modus operandi: First he corners the bullies and makes sure they have no way of escaping, then he either has his mods or volunteers brutalize them or delivers a beat-down himself.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Downplayed. Seongbin wears glasses in his everyday identity and is a merciless Bully Hunter who takes pleasure in beating his victims black and blue. But his rage and animosity is targeted solely towards bullies and their associates. He even takes preventive measures that ensure he won't go too far.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Yes, Seongbin's anger at the bullies and Trollfam is absolutely justified and his channel is all about giving bully-victims the justice they deserve by humiliating and punishing their bullies. But Seongbin is an absolute lunatic when it comes to bully-hunting and has no self-restraint whatsoever. Even calling him "good" is a bit of a stretch, seeing as in his pursuit of ending bullies, he's very much become a bully himself. Even his friends are terrified of him and Taeyang flat-out admits that he's scared Seongbin will kill him if he ever tries to get him to abandon his quest for revenge.
  • Invincible Hero: So far, he's won every single fight he's been in, both as Neon Mask and Seongbin. However, he later on reveals to Sejin that there was a time when he lost - and his opponent is so dangerous that he still has his mods on the look-out for him whenever he streams.
  • Nerves of Steel: He's calm and cool-headed even in the most dangerous situations, which is probably a must for someone running a bully-hunting channel.
  • No Sympathy: Seongbin doesn't feel an ounce of pity for the bullies he takes down, even if they're just small fries and he makes that very clear in his live-streams. He also has no patience for people who sweet-talk themselves into a bully's good graces, but throw their friends to the wolves. As he bluntly tells Taesop, he regards a victim who becomes a bully to save their own skin as not even worthy of the dirt under his shoes.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Seongbin is thoroughly convinced that the only way to stop a bully for good is to give them a taste of their own medicine and beat them to near-death to the cheers of their former victims.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Started with the bully whose carelessness led to Yebin's death, has now expanded to pretty much every bully in the country who's deserving of the name.
  • Stepford Smiler: As Seongbin he always has a polite, unassuming smile on his face. When he drops it, you know things are about to get serious.

     Jihyo / Mod Joy

Jihyo Min / "Mod Joy"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_sihyo.PNG
Click here to see her as Mod Joy

A mousy-looking, highly intelligent school-girl who acts as a moderator to Neon Mask. Her code-name is "Joy". Though she might not look like it, she is very skilled in close combat and a brutal fighter.

  • Action Girl: The only female moderator so far and very skilled in close combat.
  • Badass Bookworm: If Seongbin's off-hand remark about him not being worried about her exams is anything to go by, she is a very good student. And she's strong and skilled enough to fight off an entire group of bullies who all appear to be taller and burlier than her.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Both in her persona and out, she makes some pretty biting comments toward Seongbin.
  • Dissonant Laughter: After beating up two of the grunts who were attempting to unmask Neon, she breaks into a fit of mad laughter and doesn't stop until all of her opponents are down. It creeps the hell out of the bullies.
  • Improbable Weapon User: In her first appearance, she uses her math books as a flail to knock out several bullies.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She has red eyes and is a dangerous vigilante bodyguarding a famous Bully Hunter.

     Seha / Mod Sorrow

Seha Kim / "Mod Sorrow"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_seha.PNG
Click here to see him as Mod Sorrow
An expert in firearms and chemical warfare. He acts as one of Neon Mask's moderators and goes by the code-name "Sorrow".
  • The Eeyore: has dark bags under his eyes, constantly slumps and has a gloomy disposition to him. Evidently there's a reason why his moniker is "Sorrow".

     Taeyang / Mod Pleasure

Taeyang Ok / "Mod Pleasure"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_taeyang.PNG
Click here to see him as Mod Pleasure
A huge man who enjoys working out. He's a moderator on Neon Mask's channel with the code-name "Pleasure".
  • The Big Guy: By far the tallest of the moderators and the most muscular.
  • Gentle Giant: He's pretty friendly and easy-going compared to Seha and Jihyo.

     Sejin / Mod Rage

Sejin Ju / "Mod Rage"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_sejin.PNG
Click here to see him as Mod Rage
The newest of Neon Mask's moderators. A hot-blooded highschool-student who join up with Seongbin after a friend of his becomes a victim of a bully-organisation. After passing Seongbin's test, he earns the code-name "Rage".
  • Ascended Fanboy: He was an avid follower and admirer of Neon Mask long before him and Seongbin met in person and is excited at the opportunity to join the circle and get revenge for his friend. He is eventually promoted to moderator and given the name "Rage", after Seongbin deems him worthy.
  • Fiery Redhead: Has dark red-dyed hair and never backs down from a fight. This is even incorporated into his moderator-persona, with him being given the very accurate code-name "Rage" and having red as his main color. Lampshaded by himself in his first appearance.
Sejin: Didn't anyone ever tell you not to mess with redheads?!
  • It's Personal: Noppagu severely injured and disfigured his best friend Sumin. Sejin couldn't really leave it alone after that.
  • Nice Guy: He's a fundamentally good person who hates bullies and is loyal to his friends.
  • Willfully Weak: As part of Seongbin's test, he has to let Noppagu beat him up and humiliate him for a long time. When he's finally allowed to let loose again, he shows Taesop what happens when he stops holding back.

Noppagu

     Domin

Domin Kim

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_domin_kim.PNG
The leader and founder of Noppagu. He also acts as the representative of their alliance with Trollfam.
  • Bad Boss: He doesn't take kindly to his underlings messing up and will brutalize them if they do. His first appearance has him beat down Myeongsu so badly Taesop needs to drive him to the hospital afterwards. When Sejin beats up two of his lackeys, Domin hangs them upside-down from the ceiling of his warehouse and leaves them there for an indeterminate amount of time.
  • Character Tics: Has a habit of playing with his lighter when thinking or irritated.
  • The Corrupter: He was mostly responsible for Taesop's turn to the dark side, as it was Domin who reached out to him and gave him his first taste of power.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: His gang is feared by the neighborhood they operate in, giving him a lot of power. But compared to most of the guys at Trollfam, he's average at best.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Domin is a feared crime-lord and has been shown to be a Bad Boss, but so far we've never seen him in a serious fight. Even when Sejin storms Noppagu's headquarters and demands all of them to face him for Sumin's eye-injury, Domin merely delegates the challenge to his underlings and doesn't even bother to get up from his chair for the entirety of the fight. Not even his most loyal follower getting threatened and beaten up in a livestream can get him off his ass.
  • Pet the Dog: He tells Seongil not to hassle Seokhyon about money, since he needs cash to buy a wheelchair for his mother.
  • The Sociopath: Domin does possess a layer of superficial charm and enough charisma to inspire others to follow him, but he feels absolutely no loyalty or attachment to any of his friends or underlings at Noppagu. He also has no empathy for anyone, thinks the world at large should cater to him and let him do whatever he wants, is really skilled at manipulating others into doing his dirty work for him and reacts with violent anger to anybody who even suggests he might not be as great as he makes himself out to be.

     Taesop

Taesop Yang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_taesop.PNG
Domin's right-hand-man. He used to be a bully-victim himself, but became part of Noppagu after gaining Domin's respect.
  • Berserk Button: Calling him weak or implying he's nothing without Noppagu or Domin's back-up.
  • The Determinator: If there's one admirable thing about Taesop, it's his will-power. He knows one misstep will kick him down to victim-status again, so he's determined to never lose, trains in martial arts and doesn't back down when challenged.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: A common point of frustration for him is how near everyone in Noppagu keeps underestimating him. He has to continually prove himself as a legit threat to make them respect him. It's doubly stressful for him, as showing weakness even once could make him a target again.
  • Freudian Excuse: He was regularly beaten up as a child and it's implied his parents didn't care about him. He became a bully mostly because it was the only way to escape his daily torture for good.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: He himself used to be tormented by a bully in his childhood until one day he fought back and actually managed to beat the jerk bullying him. This got him on Domin's radar and after hanging out with Domin and his lackeys, he found he liked being feared and powerful and became a full-time bully himself. Unusually for this trope, he's actually fully aware of what he's become. But he prefers it to the alternative and feels no guilt over turning into the sort of person who used to make his own life hell.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After being beaten by Mod Rage, he actually quits Noppagu and attempts to get a proper job. He even turns Domin down when he offers him a way back into the gang and flat-out tells Domin that he's way too afraid of what Neon Mask might do to him if he relapses to ever go back to the criminal life.
  • Number Two: He sees himself as Domin's most loyal companion and friend and seeing as the two seem rather close, it might even be true. Neon Mask targets Taesop partially because he knows Domin won't be able to ignore that assault as easily as he did Myeongsu's. As it turns out, Domin thinks he's just a disposable as any other mook and doesn't even bother to save him when he realizes Neon Mask has him trapped.
  • Paper Tiger: Zig-zagged. Taesop can fight, but it's heavily implied that he's not on the same level as heavy-hitters like Sejin or even Domin. He often relies on posturing and intimidation to get his way and doesn't seek confrontation unless it's absolutely necessary.
  • Undying Loyalty: He is completely devoted to Domin, as he was the one who showed him the high life and how fun it is to be a bully no one can touch.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: He wasn't always a violent gang member and was even implied to be somewhat of a wall-flower before he caught Domin's eye. Even his very first act of violence (beating up his own bully) was in self-defense, rather than out of maliciousness.

     Myeongsu

Myeongsu Bae

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_myeongsu.PNG
An enforcer of Noppagu. Known for being all bark, no bite.
  • Asshole Victim: Domin bashes his head in with an ashtray as punishment for losing a fight to Sejin and Seongbin. Seeing as he initiated said fight for no good reason and is characterized as an unpleasant thug, it's not really a Tear Jerker for the reader.
  • Buttmonkey: He was already not well-respected at Noppagu, due to his Dirty Coward - tendencies described below. But being beaten up by Neon Mask two times pretty much cemented his status as a laughing stock among his fellow bullies.
  • Dirty Coward: He talks a big game, but never actually jumps into the fray himself. Best shown when Sejin taunts him in front of a live audience in Neon Mask's stream and Myeongsu pretends he can't get to him, because his minions are holding him back, even though that isn't the case. When he does eventually attack Sejin, he does it from behind and with a weapon.
  • Fat Bastard: An overweight jerk who never actually fights himself, but relies on his minions to do the dirty work for him. It's implied that not even his fellow Noppagu-bullies really like him.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: No one at Noppagu really respects him.

     Yunho

Yunho Yu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_yunho_yu.PNG
An infamous bully with a bad temper. Noppagu more or less hires him to get rid of Neon Mask.
  • Bad Boss: The bullies under him hate working for him and it's not hard to see why. Where Domin at least only beat his underlings up as punishment for failure, all Yunho needs is someone looking at him wrong to knock their teeth out.
  • The Brute: If someone annoys him even slightly, he beats them up without mercy.
  • Fat Bastard: Even bigger than Myeongsu and about ten times as vicious.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Even in a completely normal and civil conversation, he'll probably find something to get mad and start a fight about.
  • It's Personal: Neon Mask apparently beat up his cousin in a livestream once. Yunho doesn't necessarily care, but he's worried it will make him look weak to ignore the incident.
  • Light Is Not Good: Wears a white shirt and has blonde hair, but he's anything but a nice guy.

Trollfam

     Daniel

Daniel

The leader and founder of Trollfam.
  • Big Bad: He created and runs the Trollfam-channel on ViewTube and is the indirect cause of Sebin's death. His organization encourages and glorifies bullying, extortion and theft and he himself seems to enjoy rewarding and egging on such behavior.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Neon Mask/Seongbin. Both are amoral teens who run a very popular social media channel that focuses on violence and humiliation. The irony is intentional, as we see several bullies from Trollfam watch and enjoy Neon Mask's channel over the course of the story.
  • The Ghost: Though mentioned several times by other characters, he's barely made any appearances so far. Whenever he does show up, it's either in a memory or with his face partially obscured.

     Yojin

Yojin Lee

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_yojin_lee.PNG
The second managing executive at Trollfam. He acts as a direct line to the higher-ups.
  • The Bartender: Works as one in one of Trollfam's clubs.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Compliments and butters up Domin when he shows up, but mentally laughs about how hard Domin tries to appear badass.
  • Eyes Always Closed: His eyes are shut all the time, giving him a fox-like appearance.

     Hyeok

Hyeok Kim

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_hyeok_kim.PNG
Trollfam's first managing executive. A junior MMA-fighter who's known as the most dangerous teenager in the country.
  • Evil Redhead: Has orange-red hair and is one of the leading men in Trollfam.
  • Mood-Swinger: Can go from casual and friendly to frothing at the mouth in anger and back in a split-second.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes and is a trained martial artist and first executive in a bully-organization.

     Yumin

Yumin Seo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_yumin_seo.PNG
Trollfam's third managing executive.
  • Red Baron: Has the nickname "Devil", presumably due to being an especially cruel bully.
  • Smug Snake: Mouths off to and taunts Domin, only to be utterly demolished by both him and Hyeok in under a second.

Others

     Sumin

Sumin Jo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nr_sumin_do.PNG
Sejin's childhood-friend. Him getting attacked by Noppagu is what spurs Sejin into action against them.
  • Childhood Friend: Him and Sejin have known each other since they were kids.
  • The Cutie: A kind young boy who really doesn't deserve any of what happens to him. It's not wonder Sejin is so protective over him, really.
  • Eye Scream: A Noppagu-goon hits him in the face with a bat while he's wearing glasses, resulting in his eyes being severely damaged. He ends up hospitalized because of this. Though luckily, it appears he's making a full recovery.
