    Tassel

Tassel/Victor

Portrayed by: Romanesques Ishitobinote

A mysterious performer and storyteller from Wonder World who acts as the show's Narrator. His true identity is later revealed to be Victor, one of the original Master Logos' companions who participated in the Wonder World wars over two thousand years ago.

The Storyteller
  • The Ageless: He has not aged a single day in 2,000 years.
  • Allegiance Affirmation: Tassel's allegiance is seemingly that of a neutral Narrator for the first half of the series, though he eventually settles into the position of Big Good.
  • All-Powerful Bystander: Alongside the original Master Logos and the three who would eventually become the Megid generals, Victor participated in the war for Wonder World, implying he holds a great deal of power. Despite this, he would rather watch events unfold and serve as the audience's Narrator. He eventually reveals that this isn't a matter of choice on his part: as the previous recipient of the power of Wonder World, he can no longer leave it, and can only send projections of himself to the human world to talk to people there. He warns both Touma and Luna that this will also be Touma's fate.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Yuri learns in Chapter 31 that Tassel has been de-powered as a result of being attacked by Master Logos and will only return to his house when he recovers enough of his strength.
  • Catchphrase: He always greets the audience with "Bonne lectuuure!"
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist: Both Woz and Tassel are the Narrators of their respective series. However, whereas Woz plays an active role and tempts Sougo into becoming Ohma Zi-O, Tassel is content with watching things unfold without his interference. At least at first, as the Forbidden Book's transformation into the Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book and Kento's return has him get more active, albeit with mixed results.
  • Distressed Dude: Zig-zagged. In Chapter 26, his attempts to have Master Logos do something regarding recent events ends with him being captured and sealed inside of a book. He pops up in the following episode congratulating Touma for saving the boy inside of Primitive Dragon. However, he's still not at his residence when Yuri visits it in Chapter 31. His current situation is altogether unclear. It's not until Chapter 39 that he finally returns mostly none the worse from his absence for 13 chapters.
  • Exposition Dump: Provides a hefty one in Chapter 41.
  • Fisher King: Tassel is implied to be responsible for Wonder World's exotic geography. When he dies, the sky turns red and stormy, and the animals begin to spontaneously perish.
  • Framing Device: Tassel only appears at the start and end of each episode, and the show is framed as a story he's telling us. He doesn't actually take part in the story itself. He gets more involved when Yuri takes an interest in Touma and Yuri comes asking for his Mid-Season Upgrade that he entrusted to Tassel. In Chapter 26, he directly confronts the current Master Logos to try and get him to do something about what's happening and soon after becomes a much larger part of Saber's story
  • Gratuitous French: Tassel's catchphrase "Bonne lecture", or "Happy reading". Tassel's actor TOBI lived in Paris for several years, where he began his comedic musical group Les Romanesques.
  • Incoming Ham: "BONNE LECTUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE!!!"
  • Killed Off for Real: Storious kills him in Wonder World to claim his book in Chapter 42, while emphasizing that dying there means he will not be able to revive this time, unlike when he was previously "killed" in the human world.
  • Large Ham: He's quite theatrical and flamboyant when narrating Touma's exploits. Which is why when he starts acting serious when something major is about to go down.
  • Last Words: "I'm sure all of you... will be fine. Touma..."
  • Meaningful Name: A tassel is a decorative ornament often used as a bookmark.
  • Named After Someone Famous: His real name, Victor, is taken from French author Victor Hugo.
  • Narrator: He serves as this, often narrating Touma's adventures as if he were a storyteller speaking to an audience.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • The usually Large Ham narrator acts dead serious when something big is about to go down, like the reveal in Chapter 10 that Calibur was the First Saber.
    • Chapter 12 marks the first time he's ended an episode with no narration in the real world.
    • He forgoes his Catchphrase entirely in Chapter 14 and spends the whole opening narration openly weeping over Calibur's Near-Villain Victory and Kento's apparent death.
    • He's appropriately worried and concerned when Touma is taken over by the Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book, enough so that in Chapter 23 he goes on a trip somewhere.
  • Parasol Parachute: He can fly using his umbrella, but doesn't have much control of his direction.
  • Put on a Bus: He has not been seen since his imprisonment in Chapter 26. He returns in Chapter 39.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Prior to taking up the name "Tassel", Victor was one of the original Master Logos' companions alongside the Megid generals back when they were human. Keep in mind that the Wonder World wars occurred over 2,000 years ago; he may very well be the oldest character in the setting.
  • Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Trailer: None of Saber's promotional materials provided any clues to his existence.
  • Stepford Smiler: Chapter 41 reveals that for all of his theatrics, his inability to properly interfere in the events of the series caused him great despair.
  • Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Tassel states in Chapter 41 that his position prevents him from physically interfering in real world events. Though it doesn't seem to stop him from talking to people of import and having them do it for him.
  • The Chosen One: Was this before Touma, according to Chapter 41. He inherited the power of Wonder World and the inability to live in the real world that came with it.
  • Walking Spoiler: There's a lot more to him than just being an eccentric narrator.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Chapter 27 reveals that he used to be good friends with Storious, Legeiel and Zooous, before the latter three's fall.
  • Wham Line: Will occasionally drop these to the audience. In Chapter 10 he not only reveals that Kurayami was one of the first Swords forged along with Saikou, hence why it is so much stronger than it's contemporaries. The other is that he has some unknown person to meet, revealed to be Yuri, which is even more suspect given that outside of the audience, no one seems to be aware of his existence.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Following Touma's acquisition of the Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book, Tassel packs a suitcase and states he is going on a trip. At the end of Chapter 23, Tassel is not present to remark on what has transpired.
    • After Touma defeats Legeiel with Elemental Dragon in Chapter 27, he is greeted by none other than Tassel himself overseeing the boy he'd just befriended.

    Luna (Unmarked Spoilers

Luna

Portrayed by: Miku Okamoto (child), Mayuu Yokota (adult)

A Childhood Friend of Touma and Kento, who is later revealed to be the personification of Wonder World itself.

The Girl who connects both Worlds

  • The Ageless: Judging from her voice in Chapter 13 and her appearance in Touma's dream in Chapter 25, she doesn't seem to have aged a day in 15 years. At least until Chapter 44.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She is actually the personification of Wonder World.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: Hayato described her as a special being who acts as a link between Wonder World and the real world. Tassel later tells Touma that if he doesn’t reunite with her soon, the world ending scenarios Kento saw are still a possibility.
  • The Chooser of the One: According to prophecy, the one Luna chooses will inherit the power of Wonder World.
  • Damsel in Distress: Upon her finally returning to Earth, she gets kidnapped by Reika.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Her adult form first appeared in Superhero Senki.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Lays down her existence to help form the Wonder Almighty Wonder Ride Book to give Touma a better chance at defeating Storious.
  • Last Words: "I'd like to hear one of your stories again... So please keep making new stories..."
  • Older Than She Looks: She is supposed to be a young adult around the same age as Touma and Kento in the present day, but due to being trapped in Wonder World, she still looks the same as she was 15 years ago and hasn't aged or grown-up at all. She grows into her proper age in Chapter 44.
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Goes through one in Chapter 44.
  • Spirit Advisor: Occasionally appears in Touma's dreams to aid him and give him advice.
  • The Lost Lenore: A platonic example. While Touma's memories of the event are hazy, his failure to save her left a great impact on him. This is also part of the reason why Kento is hesitant to tell him that it was real.

    Sora Ogami

Sora Ogami

Portrayed by: Tenta Banka

Ryo's son.

The Son of the Swordsman of Earth
  • Cheerful Child: Even if Touma ends up with a personal issue such as taking responsibility for Ryo being petrified or being branded as a traitor, Sora does not give up on or change his opinion about him one bit.
  • Children Are Innocent: Got himself trapped in Wonder World due to accidentally grabbing a blank Wonder Ride Book on a bench, though Mei pins the blame on herself for leaving Sora near the bench by himself while she was getting them both soft serves.
  • Commuting on a Bus: After the debut of Buster, Sora ends up making sporadic appearances throughout the series, due to him going to school in the real world.
  • The Ghost: He's technically in Trio of Deep Sin, as shown with Ogami greeting him, though he's neither seen nor heard.
  • Missing Mom: There is no mention whatsoever of his mother. Chapter 6 of the Buster manga reveals that she's on an overseas business trip. She finally makes an appearance in Chapter 44 of the series.
  • Recurring Character: Due to his age and the fact that Ryo isn't willing to risk him being in danger, Sora doesn't appear as often as most of the cast but enough for emotional support to his father and Touma.
  • Spanner in the Works: Rather than remain in hiding when Reika breaks into Northern Base and attacks Tetsuo and Ryo, he not only runs off to get help but ultimately exposes Reika's agenda.

The Boy in the Dream (spoilers)

The Boy in the Dream/Dragon of the Beginning/Primitive Dragon

Portrayed by: Kou Aoki

The personification of the Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book.

    Kamen Rider Calibur (III)
The third wielder of the Ankokuken Kurayami. They are later revealed to be Kento Fukamiya, who broke free from Kurayami's imprisonment and now aims to seal away the Seikens, which puts him at odds with both Touma's group and the Sword of Logos.

For character tropes, see Kento's section under Protagonists.

    Junpei, Takuto and Fumi

Junpei Portrayed by: Yuito Kamata
Takuto Portrayed by: Seiya Kimura
Fumi Portrayed by: Miyu Ando

Three friends with different aspirations (except for one), who appear in Saber's special chapter. They are threatened or linked to the arrival of the Batta Deadman.

  • Always with You: They proclaim this as they go their separate ways, vowing to stand by one another in spirit after the Batta Deadman is destroyed.
  • Fangirl: While all of them are fans of Touma's literature work, Fumi is the most fascinated; this has inspired her to become a novelist herself.
  • Generation Xerox: Downplayed. Touma and Kento note of the three of them and compare them to themselves and Luna, but thankfully, they're completely normal humans with regular human aspirations.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Junpei initially felt left out owing to having no notable achievements or aspirations unlike his two friends, Takuto being a football player and Fumi wanting to be an author. This makes him hesitate to join his friends at the tree where Touma and Kento first met Luna and finally pushes him to use his newly acquired Batta Vistamp on himself to "solve" his worries.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Junpei and Takuto are the two lads and Fumi's the only lass in the trio.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Junpei obtains the Batta Vistamp from a mysterious stranger who "promises" that it would help him with his issue, and stamps it on himself, unaware it would create a monster from within him; said monster goes on a rampage and threaten his friends. He's even visibly alarmed when Kento made mention of the monster.

    Batta Deadman
A grasshopper-themed demon monster created from a young lad named Junpei when he stamped the Batta Vistamp on himself after receiving it from a mysterious stranger. This monster appears exclusively on the main series' special chapter.
For more information on this monster, see the Deadmans' character page.
