Daba’s Group

    Daba Myroad
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daba.png
Voiced by: Hirokazu Hiramatsu

A young man traveling with his Heavy Metal, the L-Gaim. He tries to return a cash card he received from a dying bandit, which ends up leading him into the middle of a conflict between the Posaydal Army and the rebel forces.

  • Arranged Marriage: His adopted sister Olibee is also technically his fiancé.
  • Childhood Friends: With Kyao.
  • Chick Magnet: Daba manages to grab the attention of both Amu and Leccee just by being himself. Too bad he's Oblivious to Love.
  • Expy: To an extent of Luke Skywalker, as Mamoru Nagano admitted that a lot of the aestethics for L-Gaim were cribbed straight from Star Wars. Do note that this was probably just one of the many influences, and the reference isn't quite obvious due to Daba being unusually shrewd for a protagonist.
  • Given Name Reveal: His birth name is “Kamon Myroad,” showing that he’s a surviving member of the Yaman Clan.
  • Guile Hero: Daba is very careful in who exactly he chooses to be at his side. He outright considers Stella Coban too vainglorious to be of any long-term use and is very much rightfully apprehensive of Semuj until he pulls a complete Heel–Face Turn in front of his face.
  • Last-Name Basis: His first name is actually Myroad, but everyone calls him Daba.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: After using the L-Gaim for the first half of the show, he switches to the more powerful L-Gaim Mk. II during the second half.
  • The Paragon: Daba is the one who manages to unite all of the Pentagona rebellions into a single army, strong enough to wage war against Posaydal and Giwaza.

    Mirao Kyao
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyao.png
Voiced by: Hōchū Ōtsuka

Daba’s friend who follows him on his journey. He expresses an interest in joining the Posaydal Army.

  • '80s Hair: Kyao's insane blonde pompadour can't be described as anything but this.
  • Butt-Monkey: As the comic relief of the main cast, Kyao bears the brunt of most abuse in the show. Sometimes it's deserved (like the time he stole the cash card, only for it to be frozen), but other times, it's not.
  • Childhood Friends: With Daba.
  • Hopeless Suitor: In the beginning, he regularly tried to hit on Amu, but on top of only having her eyes on Daba, she finds Kyao more annoying than anything else.

    Fanneria Amu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amu.png
Voiced by: Chieko Honda

Former actress turned bandit. She ends up ditching her group and the bandit business entirely soon after meeting Daba and joining him on his journey instead.

  • Action Girl: Her time as a bandit has given her quite the combat skills.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She makes it very obvious that she doesn’t like it when Daba interacts with other women, especially Leccee. Amu even goes as far to actually cling to Daba's arm while feeling lovey-dovey about him.

    Gaw Ha Leccee

Leccee after joining Daba's group
Leccee late into the series
Voiced by: Maria Kawamura

A soldier in Posaydal’s Army referred to as a member of the “Elite 13,” her encounter with Daba sparks a change in her.

  • Ace Custom: Her D.Ssard is painted red instead of the usual white. She eventually gets the Nouvelle D.Sserd which is a brand-new build based straight off the L-Gaim Mk-II.
  • Action Girl: As expected of a former soldier, she can hold her own in battle.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Leccee cuts down her long red mane into a bob when she joins Daba to prove his allegiance, by letting go of her femininity. She eventually grows it back after reconnecting with her feminine side fully.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Though not quite as bad about as Amu, she'd also rather have Daba all to herself. She eventually stops this after leaving Daba for a while and taking up the position of second-in-command of the Anti-Posaydal Rebellion.
  • Defector from Decadence: She claims that she left the Posaydal Army due to its corruption, though Amu thinks the real reason is because she fell for Daba.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She leaves Posaydal’s army to join Daba’s group.
  • Nice Girl: Leccee has a very kind heart, which eventually causes her to switch sides away from the corrupt and increasingly tyrranical Posaydal Army.

    Fuau Lilith
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lilith_l_gaim.png
Voiced by: Maria Kawamura

A fairy who ends up joining Daba after they meet on Planet Koam.

  • Fairy Companion: She's the last fairy seen on Koam, and she frequently joins Daba in the cockpit.
  • Sole Survivor: There are no other fairies left on Planet Koam, though whether this also applies to the rest of Pentagona is unknown.
  • The Voiceless: In the early episodes, Lilith frequently communicates through gestures, even though it's shown that she can speak. She eventually starts talking to the other characters normally, persumably due to overcoming her shyness (which is justified since Lilith actually witnessed genocide of her people done by humans).

Posaydal Army

    "Oldna Posaydal" (SPOILER CHARACTER)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mian_5.png
Voiced by: Saeko Shimazu

Head of the Posaydal Army and the immortal emperor of Pentagona.

  • Big Bad: Averted. Turns out she isn't the real Posaydal.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: She was hypnotized by the real Posaydal into believing to be the ruler of the empire.
  • Given Name Reveal: Her original name was Mian Ku Ha Attsher.
  • Mystical White Hair: Her silver-white hair adds to her ominous, almost magical and regal look.
  • Woman Scorned: She was warped into a puppet for Posaydal to rule from the shadows, and the true personality after the biorelation system is shut down isn't really happy with this.

    Gavlet Gablae
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gabley_l_gaim.png
Voiced by: Show Hayami

A Heavy Metal pilot who joins up with the Posaydal Army, he develops a rivalry with Daba after an encounter on Koam.

  • Butt-Monkey: When it comes to suffering for the sake of comedy, Gablae is the only one to rival Kyao.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He ends up betraying the Posaydal Army and joining forces with his former rival Daba.
  • Love Redeems: His love for Olibee acts as the instigator for his Heel–Face Turn.

    Hasha Moja
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hasha.png
Voiced by: Kōji Totani

A former member of the same bandit group as Amu, he ends up following Gablae into the Posaydal Army.

  • Number Two: He's effectively Gablae's right-hand man for most of the series.
  • Last-Name Basis: If a given character isn't calling him by his full name, they're calling him "Hasha."

    Anton
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anton_l_gaim.png
Voiced by: Bin Shimada

A soldier in the Posaydal Army often seen with his comrade Hekeler.

  • Ace Pilot: His skills are enough for him to make him a candidate for the Elite 13.
  • Number Two: He shares the position of Nei's right-hand man with Hekeler.
  • Sole Survivor: By the end of the series, he's the only named member of Giwaza's forces that's still alive.

    Heckler
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heckler_3.png
Voiced by: Kōzō Shioya

A soldier in the Posaydal Army often seen with his comrade Antoon.

  • Ace Pilot: His skills are enough for him to make him a candidate for the Elite 13.
  • Number Two: He shares the position of Nei's right-hand man with Antoon.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He takes an attack to protect McTomin, losing his life in the process.

    Olibee
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/olibee.png
Voiced by: Yumi Kinoshita (anime), Ai Uchikawa (Super Robot Wars)

Daba’s adopted younger sister and betrothed fiance who disappeared before the start of the story.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: By the time of her first appearance, she’s already become a puppet of Posaydal.
  • Lost Lenore: Of sorts for Daba. She isn't dead, but Daba initially doubted he'd even find her alive.

Elite Thirteen

    Giwaza
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/giwaza.png

The 3rd-ranked member of Posaydal’s Elite 13.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Shares the position of the main antagonist with Posaydal.
  • The Leader: Despite only being ranked 3rd, he acts as the leader of the Elite 13 within the TV series.
  • The Starscream: He decides to rebel against Posaydal after Olibee is promoted over him.

    Nei Mo Han

  • Bling-Bling-BANG!: Her signature Heavy Metal, the Auge, is gold.
  • Dark Action Girl: As expected of a member of the Elite 13, she is quite the force in battle, frequently overwhelming Daba.

Voiced by: Banjo Ginga

The 8th-ranked member of the Elite 13.

    Lili
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lili_l_gaim.png
Voiced by: Asami Mukaidono

The 10th-ranked member of the Elite 13.

  • Does Not Like Men: She's shown to outright hate the opposite gender.
  • Freudian Excuse: While the details are never given, it's stated that she used to be normal until a horrible experience with men led her to hate them.
  • Psycho for Hire: Bluntly tells Daba when he tries to appeal to her better nature at one point that she works for Posaydal for fun, and clearly enjoys tormenting others (like Amu) with the authority it gives her.

    Baan-Gania
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/baan_gania.png
Voiced by: Shunsuke Takamiya (series), Unshō Ishizuka (OVA)

The 11th-ranked member of the Elite 13.

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: After being attacked from behind by Kyao, Baan-Gania's Ashura Temple is stabbed by the saber of Daba's L-Gaim, leading to Baan-Gania's death.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/full_flat.png
Voiced by: Mika Doi

A woman in charge of Theart Star, an independent asteroid base.

  • Straw Feminist: Her public image is this, as she's the head of Theart Star, a fully-female asteroid station. However...
  • Woman Scorned: She and Mian by Posaydal after he completed the conquest of Pentagona.

    Amadara Kamandara (SPOILER CHARACTER)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amandara.png
Amandara as Posaydal
Voiced by: Ryuichi Horibe

An arms dealer who frequently does business with both the Posaydal Army and the rebels. In fact he's the real Oldna Posaydal, the shadow ruler of the Pentagona Empire who took every step to assure that the cycles of rebellion keep failing.

  • Arms Dealer: He sells weapons to both Posaydal's forces and the rebels.
  • Big Bad: As the real Posaydal, he is the one ultimately behind the atrocities in the story.
  • Bling-Bling-BANG!: He pilots an Auge, just like with Nei, and his is also very gold.
  • The Dreaded: He dreads Daba because the Yaman were the only ones that had the technology to manifacture opposing bio-relation systems .
  • Sinister Scythe: One of the key differences between his Auge and Nei's is that his carries a scythe as its main weapon.
    • It also comes with a built-in BFG in the form of a shoulder-mounted Buster Launcher.
  • Super Prototype: He pilots an Auge, like Nei's, but HIS version is the original spec, which comes with vastly increased performance and a fully functional biorelation system.
