    The Monreaux Family

Margaret Monreaux

Played by: Kim Cattrall

Eugene's wife, the star of "Wings of a Dove", and the President of SunnyClub.

  • Everyone Has Standards: After Hagamond Sheen kidnaps baby Jesus and Pastor Luke keeps trying to pretend that he had nothing to do with it, an enraged Margaret finally fires him. She was willing to look the other way on his other shifty behavior, but kidnapping a child is beyond the pale for her.
  • It's All About Me: As far as she's concerned, the world revolves around her.
  • Mama Bear: Whatever her other faults, she genuinely loves her children, and even has room in her heart for her stepchildren, and she will fight to defend them.
  • Rags to Riches: She was the daughter of Ellie, one of the Monreaux family's cooks, before Eugene's mother decided to set her up with Eugene. After marrying Eugene, she became one of the richest and most powerful women in Louisiana.

Eric Monreaux

Played by: Corey Cott

The son of Eugene and Margaret Monreaux, and the reluctant new CEO of the Monreaux empire.

  • Awful Wedded Life: He got roped into marrying Becky Thomas after she got pregnant, and while he tries to love her, their worldviews are very different, and it's not working out.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He tries so hard to do the right thing, and the world beats the crap out of him for it.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: Nothing has prepared him for the difficulties of being the CEO of Monreaux Unlimited, and he ends up in over his head very quickly.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He panics after finding out that Luke was investigating his mother and seemingly kills him. The guilt gets to him really quickly.
  • Nice Guy: He is a genuinely nice, honest guy who only wants to do the right thing, which is not easy when he's the CEO of a company that is rotting away from the inside.
  • Wrong Line of Work: He would probably have been much happier singing for a living, but instead he becomes the new CEO of his parents' company at the very moment that said company is facing a covert takeover by an extremely powerful and manipulative group that he is not equipped to fight.

Rose Monreaux

Played by: Aubrey Dollar

The daughter of Eugene and Margaret Monreaux. An aspiring fashion designer, she finds herself being groomed for a role on "Wings of a Dove", much to her distaste.

  • Spoiled Sweet: She's never done an honest day's work in her life, and is so far removed from the troubles of ordinary people that she thinks nothing of taking an obscene amount of money from the family safe to pay off would-be blackmailers, but she's also the sweetest member of the main cast.
  • Wrong Line of Work: She's being groomed to join her mother on "Wings of a Dove", but wishes she could become a fashion designer instead.

Becky Thomas Monreaux

Played by: Olivia Macklin

The younger sister of Pastor Luke Thomas, and the wife of Eric Monreaux. She presents each episode's recap.

  • Armored Closet Gay: She married Eric in order to hide the fact that she's a lesbian from her older brother. Presumably, this is also why she slept with Eugene Monreaux.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: On the surface, she appears to be a pretty young woman who's actually a mean, judgmental bitch on the inside. The truth is actually the inverse; she's entirely capable of being sweet and affectionate, but has to put up a hard shell to protect herself from her loathsome brother.

Eugene Monreaux

Played by: Gerald McRaney

The founder and President of a real-estate empire and an evangelical bigwig. After a plane crash, he is presumed dead, and finds himself cut off from his family and fortune. He's taken this in stride, seeing his reduced status as a chance to atone for his sins.

  • The Atoner: After losing everything, he seeks to make up for his past misdeeds by helping his children and exposing his former conspirators in the 18:20 group.
  • Dirty Old Man: The finale reveals that he is the true father of Becky's daughter.

    The Prodigals

Ginger Sweet

Played by: Melia Kreiling

An adult film star, and the oldest of Eugene's children, the product of an affair he had with showgirl Tina Sweet. Unlike her half-siblings, she's always known who and what her father was, and resents that his "real" family got to enjoy easy lives while she and her mother have struggled.

  • Big Sister Instinct: She tries to help Rose and Eric with their respective problems.
  • Broken Pedestal: As a child, she idolized Margaret Monreaux, and is incredibly disappointed to find out that Margaret isn't all sweetness and light.
  • Closet Key: She ends up awakening Becky's long-dormant lesbian feelings.
  • Cool Big Sis: She helps the shy, reserved Rose come out of her shell, and guides her out of Margaret's influence.
  • Ethical Slut: Despite her reputation, there are limits to her hedonism. For example, she refuses to be the one who breaks up her stepbrother's marriage.
  • Hidden Depths: She is extremely knowledgeable about the Bible and history.
  • Mirror Character: For all her protests that she's a better person, Ginger has the same ambition and ruthless instincts as Margaret Monreaux.

Antonio Rivera

Played by: Benjamin Levy Aguilar

Eugene's son by former boxer Yopi Candalaria, and now an MMA fighter and father in his own right.

  • The Ace: He's handsome, well-mannered, and while he is initially employed as an MMA fighter, he manages to transition to a reasonably-respectable job working security for the Monreaux family. Of Eugene's three illegitimate kids, he is Margaret's favorite.
  • Nice Guy: He's the least cynical of the extant Monreaux children.

Jason Conley

Played by: Mark L. Young

Eugene's son by Veronica Dockerty, and a former pot dealer. Actually Mark Conley, Jason's adopted brother, impersonating the real Jason, who's in a coma.

  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: He initially only goes along with his plan to con the Monreaux family in order to get money to pay for his adopted mother's cancer treatments, but soon finds himself in too deep.
  • Mercy Kill: When the real Jason regains consciousness, he begs Mark to kill him, as he fears he'll just be a burden now that he's a paraplegic. Mark reluctantly agrees.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After Rose learns the truth about how the real Jason ended up in a coma, she dumps Mark, and he decides to cut all ties with the Monreaux family.
  • The Danza

    The 18: 20 Group

Pastor Paul Luke Thomas

Played by: Aaron Lazar

A televangelist who got his start from "Wings of a Dove", and now the head of the 18:20 group.

  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He is killed by Hagamond, who notes that Pastor Luke created him in the first place.
  • Sinister Minister: For all of his righteous trappings, he is a very bad man.
  • The Starscream: He's been plotting to take over the Monreaux empire for years, and with Eugene's apparent death, he finally sees his opening.
  • Villainous Breakdown: He falls to pieces after Margaret fires him. For all of his confidence in his own righteousness, all of his plans relied on him remaining in the Monreaux family orbit.

Don Bouchard

Played by: Kenny Alfonso

A powerful MMA promoter.

  • Career-Ending Injury: He uses a cane, suggesting that his own fighting career ended due to an unspecified leg or foot injury.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Once it becomes clear that the 18:20's Louisiana chapter is collapsing, he sells his shares in SunnyClub to Yopi and disappears.

Governor Virgil Love

Played by: John McConnell

The Governor of Louisiana.

  • Hypocrite: He runs on a platform of family values, while frequenting porn sites and brothels.

Townes Dockerty

Played by: Carl Palmer

A wealthy local industrialist.

  • Awful Wedded Life: He and his wife Veronica have been cheating on and abusing each other for years.

Hagamond Sheen

Played by: Thomas Francis Murphy

A religious fanatic who serves as the group's hired muscle.

  • Ax-Crazy: Unlike the other members of the 18:20 group, he genuinely believes in the religious doctrine that underpins their organization, and is willing to go to murderous lengths to carry out what he believes to be God's will.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: He's killed after Eugene accidentally runs a car into him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: His one saving grace is that he doesn't hurt children.
  • The Fundamentalist: He's real big on the Book of Revelations.

    Others

Franklin Lee

Played by: Steve Harris

The Monreaux family lawyer.

Yolanda "Yopi" Rivera Candalaria

A former boxer, mother (and manager) of Angelo Rivera, and grandmother of Jesus.

  • Career-Ending Injury: The 18:20 group shattered her hands after she was paid to have an abortion but carried Angelo to term. This prevents her from making a proper fist, ending her boxing career.
  • Hidden Depths: She turns out to be an extremely shrewd businesswoman. By the end of the season, she's not only quadrupled Angelo's payout from the Monreaux family, but she's also managed to buy a share of SunnyClub, making her and Angelo obscenely rich.
  • Rags to Riches: She starts the series as the manager for a struggling MMA fighter, but ends the series being richer than she ever dreamed possible.
  • Shipper on Deck: She wants to set up Angelo with Rachel so that her grandson will have a mother.
