Sada “Vermilion” Shuiro
Sada Shuiro (Codename: Vermilion)
- Affectionate Nickname: "Vermilion", which a few of the Reprobates call her due to her fiery red hair. The name ends up sticking and becomes her codename.
- Aloof Ally: To Chizuko and the rest of her Division. Sada is only in it for herself and doesn't get the appeal of trying to make friends with people that'll probably die the next day.
- Amazonian Beauty: Sada is well-toned and sports some muscle around her arms and stomach.
- Anti-Hero: She comes off as haughty and cold, rejecting the notion of working together to survive when only one person will emerge the victor in the end.
- Bust-Contrast Duo: With Natsukawa, serving as the smaller-sized of the pair.
- Damsel out of Distress: Despite any situation she gets into where she's trapped or captured, it's usually her intention or she hatches a plan that she puts into action on the go.
- Deadpan Snarker: Sada typically oozes sarcasm and has a blatant sardonic attitude toward most things she encounters.
- Fiery Redhead: Her reddish-orange hair is matched by her hot temper and brash actions.
- Full-Frontal Assault: After awaking in the Swamp of Blood completely naked, she has to avoid the demons Gozu and Mezu while finding a way to escape.
- Horned Humanoid: Sports a single horned spike on the right side of her forehead, representing an evil sin she committed at some point in her past life.
- Improvised Clothes: She fashions herself a new outfit using a tattered kimono and bandages, even creating a Fundoshi to wear underneath.
- Ms. Fanservice: Sada's outfit doesn't leave much to the imagination, just look at her profile picture! Granted, it's all she has to work with given the circumstances. Even her introduction in the series begins with her entirely naked throughout the first challenge.
- The Nicknamer: Tends to give one to nearly everyone she meets, simply because she can't be bothered to remember their actual names.
- Panty Fighter: Technically it's a fundoshi, but with the way her clothing is, her panties are almost always on display; only obscured by her belt and obi.
- Reluctant Fanservice Girl: Like mentioned previously, Sada dislikes being naked and the subject of Male Gaze. Still, she makes due with what she's given and tries to make the most of it.
- Ship Tease: Hinted to have budding feelings for Natsukawa, while Natsukawa mainly enjoys teasing Sada to get her flustered.
- Stupid Sexy Flanders: Has several moments of this toward Natsukawa, who frequently follows up on said moments with teasing of some sort.
- Vulgar Humor: Sada has a fondness for crass and vulgar humor, ranting to Natsukawa about how despite the fact she's dead, she still feels the need to urinate and wonders if souls can still get periods.
- Xanatos Speed Chess: Sada is a master of not planning ahead, but instead reacting to the things around her and formulating plans on the fly. It's what allows her to survive so many of the Rings of Rebirth.
Chizuko "Mama" Natsukawa
Chizuko Natsukawa (Codename: Mama)
- Boobs-and-Butt Pose: Gives a slightly-modest one for the cover of Volume 2.
- Bust-Contrast Duo: With Sada, serving as the bigger-breasted of the pair.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: Invoked throughout the story, as their large size is often acknowledged by the characters: specially Sada.Sada: Her gigantic tits... are pressing... against me...
- The Captain: Of Second Division.
- Closet Key: Possibly serves as one to Sada, but it's unknown if Natsukawa returns the sentiment.
- Coy, Girlish Flirt Pose: Makes one at Sada's expense, just to further her embarrassment.
- Damsel out of Distress: Not to the degree of Sada, but she's able to hold her own in a fight and even managed to escape the Swamp of Blood without the needed aid of anyone.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl: Shows no reservations when it comes to being nude in front of others, unlike Sada. Natsukawa even gives Sada an affectionate hug once they reunite, despite them being naked. She then proceeds to tease Sada over her embarrassment.
- Mama Bear: Invoked and Lampshaded due to her choice of nickname. Despite not being a mother whatsoever, she looks after her friends like a protective guardian and won't stop until they're safe.
- Plucky Comic Relief: Chizuko's humor and observations to the horrific things the others encounter help keep the tone from becoming too bleak and dismal.
- The Pollyanna: She's unflinchingly kind-hearted, even helping the younger and elderly Reprobates whenever she can at risk to herself. When questioned by Neon Deon on the worth of others, Natsukawa immediately states that everyone has worth.
- Supporting Leader: Despite Sada being the main protagonist of the series, she's also a bitter loner and a rude antihero most of the time. Natsukawa picks up the slack as a natural-born leader who would probably be the hero in another story.
- Team Mom: What else could you expect from a person referred to as Mama? She loves her friends and fights to keep them safe.
