    Victor Donovan

Victor Donovan as he appears in Dead or Alive 5
A mysterious figure who exists behind the scenes of DOATEC. He is a ruthless man who wants nothing less than to command DOATEC and use its resources to conduct inhuman experiments in pursuit of the ultimate living weapon. Omega and Alpha-152 are some of his most powerful subjects (which are bio-enhanced versions of Genra, a prominent Mugen Tenshin shinobi, and Kasumi Alpha, a loyal clone of the real Kasumi). He has employed Christie and Bayman in the past. Other associates include Lisa Hamilton, Miyako (Kokoro's mother) and his son, Rig. Donovan is the main antagonist of the Dead or Alive series.

  • Big Bad: Of the whole series.
  • The Chessmaster
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive
  • Demonic Possession: It's strongly implied that he ends up possessed by the same mask that Omega wore. Unlike most examples, however, Donovan seems to do this willingly.
  • Dirty Old Man: In 6, he seems to show an incredibly creepy, lustful fascination towards one of his projects. While initially the scene is presented as a possibly-revived Alpha-152, later scenes reveal that the feminine entity within the test tube is actually Helena's mother Maria, suggesting that she and Donovan have some sort of connection.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: He's single-mindedly obsessed with making the ultimate bio-weapon, if the small army of Kasumi clones he created is any indication.
  • The Faceless: His only physical appearance in the series has been in Dimensions and 5. Even then you never get to see his face.
  • The Ghost: Until Dimensions (or Helena's ending from 4, depending on what you believe), the only time he actually appeared was in The Movie.
  • Good Hair, Evil Hair: His hair is slicked back, and he's an Evilutionary Biologist and the series' Big Bad.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Whenever he appears in person, his face is hidden behind a mask. Most often this is a White Mask of Doom, but he changes his style in a post-credits scene of Dead or Alive Dimensions, adopting Genra's mask, which is pitch-black and has Red Eyes, Take Warning.
  • The Unfought: Despite his machinations, Victor has stayed out of the line of fire (and quite a few characters have good reason to punch his face in). However, going by the ending of Dimensions, he might eventually appear as an opponent down the line, especially since as of the ending of 5, Kasumi is actively seeking him out.
  • You Killed My Father: Although Christie is the one who actually murdered Helena's mother, it is heavily implied that Donovan was the one who ordered her to do it. He also hired Bayman to assassinate her father Fame Douglas.

    Irene Lew

Voiced by: Mariko Suzuki (JP), Amanda Troop (EN)

Irene as she appears in Dead or Alive: Dimensions
Ryu Hayabusa's love interest from the Ninja Gaiden games. A CIA agent who uses the codenames Sea Swallow and Sonia, she's been assigned by the agency to investigate the tournament and DOATEC.

  • Action Girlfriend
  • Art Shift: Changed from her original NES design to her look in the new Ninja Gaiden games, and then changed again (albeit less drastically) in Dead or Alive: Dimensions to match the look of the series.
  • Damsel in Distress: In the NES games. Also, was captured by Christie during the third DOA tournament (as per Dimensions) to lure Ryu away from the Tenjin ninjas.
  • Love Interest: Of Ryu.
  • Non-Player Character: Has yet to be playable in either the Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive games.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gives one to Ryu after he slaps Kasumi in an attempt to stop her from going after Hayate.

    Miyako
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miyako_1_7428.png
Miyako as she appears in Dead or Alive 5
A former mistress of Fame Douglas and Kokoro's mother. At an early age, Miyako took his daughter to Japan and raised her as a geisha in an effort to keep her away from the shady life involving DOATEC.

It is revealed in 5 that Miyako is the head of DOATEC's Japan section and allies herself with Donovan for reasons yet to be explained.

  • The Faceless: Played straight in 4, averted in 5.
  • Expy: You'd be damned if you think she's Mizuki McCloud's twin sister.
  • Morality Pet: Kokoro could very well be this to her.
  • Retcon: She was originally a former mistress of Fame Douglas who fled to Japan after learning about her pregnancy in effort to keep Kokoro away from the shady life DOATEC is involved with. In 5 however, it's revealed that Miyako is actually the head of DOATEC's Japan section and, for reasons unknown, aligns herself with Victor Donovan.

    Shiden

Shiden as he appears in Dead or Alive: Dimensions

Voiced by: Yukitoshi Hori (JP), Lloyd Sherr (EN)

The husband of Ayame, father of Hayate and Kasumi, paternal uncle of Ayane, and the former leader of the Mugen Tenshin clan. Initially only appearing briefly in the opening movie of Dead or Alive Ultimate, he gets an expanded role in Dead or Alive: Dimensions, as a boss and an unlockable character.

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He wasn't the former leader of the Mugen Tenshin for nothing.
  • Retired Badass: He may not be the leader of the Mugen Tenshin anymore, but he's still got it.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Raidou's Cain.
  • Honor Before Reason: The fact that he's been forced to order the assassination of Kasumi for her departure from the village because of the laws of the clan. Keep in mind that Kasumi's his freaking daughter!
  • Lawful Stupid: As stated in Honor Before Reason above, he had to label Kasumi, his own daughter, a runaway shinobi and Marked to Die because of the clan's laws. In a cutscene from Dead or Alive: Dimensions, Hayate initially wants to find Kasumi and bring her home, but Shiden blatantly tells him that, as the next leader of the clan, his loyalty is to the clan itself first and foremost.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite the circumstances behind Ayane's birth, he didn't deny her a place to live or the right to live, and doesn't really bear any ill will towards her for it.
