     Main cast

Maki Aikawa

The main character, a quiet schoolgirl standing around 6' who just loves fighting.

  • Blood Knight: Maki loves fighting, although she partially uses it as a coping mechanism for her mother's death.
  • Broken Bird: She was a former gymnastics champion, but after her mother's death, she quits her gymnastic career and becomes a Blood Knight to cope.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: Maki stands head and shoulders above her friends and most people at 6 feet.
  • Idiot Hero: Downplayed. She's not a complete idiot, but her social skills could use work. And she tends to brute force her way through most of her fights.
  • Kick Chick: Her fighting style primarily revolves around the use of her legs.
  • Oblivious to Love: Mina, Shinnosuke, and Juiletta all have a thing for her. However, she seems to find love too foreign or is just not really looking for a relation. She has oddly teased Sakiyama about owing her a kiss.

Mina Nakanotomi

A girl from a wealthy family who hangs out with the rest of the main cast despite going to a different school. She has a crush on Maki.

Yuu Takigawa

The tanned-skin lead of the bunch. Normally seen with Michiru.

  • Informed Ability: Michiru mentions Yuu knows karate. However, she never shows this off much due to Maki being the muscle.

Michiru Kawamoto

Yuu's best friend.

  • Jerkass: Like Yuu, she teases Mina and Renge frequently.

Renge Inui:

The shortest yet loudest of the bunch. Serves as the main commentator.

Shinnosuke Tokita

First appeared: Ch 6 (episode 3 in the anime). Fights with a sectioned staff.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: He has a crush on Maki, not that she's either aware of it or reciprocates it.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After losing his with Maki.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He develops feelings for her, but Maki either doesn't know or reciprocate.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He can be seen just as jealous as Mina during Episode 6, where everyone thought Maki's father was her lover.
  • Heroic BSoD: Gains a temporary one after Tsukio managed to rid him of his tri-section staff.
  • Put on a Bus: Immediately following the pro-wrestling arc, Shinnosuke travels to India to grow stronger, stating he won't return until he's stronger than Maki. He gets a brief cameo in Episode 26, where he is about to fight a massive tiger, but otherwise is not seen.

     Acquaintances

Kaori Sakiyama

Aspiring supermodel. Her first encounter was when Maki and friends inadvertently ruined Kaori's photoshoot.

Miori Aikawa

Maki's younger half-sister. Wants to show she can be as good as her father and Maki.

  • Big Brother Worship: To Maki. She didn't think much of her at first, but after watching Maki fight for the first time, she idolizes her and decides to move in with her sister.

Reichi Mishima

A BMX-themed fighter who has a crush on Mina.

Shiro Saeki

Maki and Miori's dad. Owns a gym and is a bit of a bumbling father.

  • Defeat Means Friendship: A bit of a subversion. He was defeated by Julietta to keep him from Maki but does hang out with him sometimes. He does however constantly warn Julietta he can't have Maki.
  • Papa Wolf: Does generally care for his daughters.
  • Teen Pregnancy: He was 15 when Maki was born.
  • The Worf Effect: Not as bad as Tsukio or Lucha but sometimes.

     Adversaries
The other Street fighters Maki & her friends encounter.

Luchamaster

A mask-wearing Lucha-themed brawler

  • Rousing Speech: Tends to give these, especially due to his large harm tendencies.
  • The Worf Effect: Has been defeated by a few people during the course of the series.

Minaguchi Yuki

Ranked the 4th strongest in the rankings. Yuki fights with sharp nails. was the first person to outrightDEFEAT MAKI.

  • Early-Bird Cameo: See the woman in the intro who has Maki by the face? That's Yuki.
  • Femme Fatalons: Her nails are her main weapon, the cuts left by them are on par with razors.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Maki ends up making her do this. As a result, she gets serious and quickly becomes the scariest foe Maki has ever faced since JULIETTA
  • Rival Team Up: Teams up with Maki to fight the Eternal. Is eventually defeated which leaves Maki to fight alone.
  • The Stoic: She's almost always emotionless.
  • Not So Stoic: While she never yells or loses her cool, Maki knows she loves to fight.
  • Wham Shot: Manages to break Maki's signature Air Spin Driver, much to everyone's surprise.

Julietta Sakamoto

Maki's stalker. He's known for his freakish strength and works as a ghostwriter.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Maki has very good reason to find him creepy.
  • Hopeless Romantic: A dark and twisted version. His obsession with Maki manifests as frantic behavior and poetic hyperbole, and he violently lashes out at some girls who offer him sexual services for money, warning them he doesn't hold back on people who "play around with love".
  • Made of Iron: The man gets every bone in his body broken and he continues chasing after Maki while bandaged like a mummy.
  • Rape as Drama: Has tried to rape Maki twice. He came close the second time as signaled by her struggles but was stopped by a well-placed kick to the groin.
  • Super-Strength: His main style is simply strong kicks that seem completely nonchalant to most people. Capable of sending people through walls, and roofs, and kicking a man into a building from across the street.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He falls in love with Maki and has been a constant thorn in her side since.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Besides fighting Maki, he has no qualms about battering teenage girls who try to make him their sugar daddy. He coldly states that anyone who cheapens or plays around with "love" will receive no mercy from him.

Kai Sanpaigita

A pro wrestler who fights similarly to Maki. Wants to fight her again after being defeated by her once.

  • Can't Catch Up: Wants to fight Maki again but has a worse win-loss record than her.
  • Friendly Rival: Kai is one of Maki's kinder "rivals" because the loss doesn't affect her much.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Defeats Sakiyama and her former trainer in a tag-team match.
  • The Worf Effect: In her introductory arc, she fights Maki to a standstill, only losing due to technical submission. During the Fukamichi Ranking arc, she loses to Kinjiro (granted, she did only lose narrowly), someone Maki beat with only a bit of difficulty.

Tsukio Taketsugu

A construction worker who is the resident Butt-Monkey.

  • Calling Your Attacks: When he did, it made him seem like an Expy of Kenshiro.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: He can hold his own in a fight, but he's not just almost dirt poor and easily ignored.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Using a jackhammer so much allowed him to throw an onslaught of punches. His speed and strength allowed him to punch holes in a wall.
  • The Worf Effect: Lost at least 3-4 times during the series run; he usually loses to opponents about to face Maki to show their strength, only for Maki to beat them with ease; showing her growth over the course of the series.

The League of Black-suited Gentlemen

A gang from Hokkaido that menace Maki's friends from Ep 9-11

  • Adapted Out: Kinjiro develops feelings for Maki due to her being different from other girls in the manga, in the anime, this is not mentioned.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Kinjiro is called "Kin-chan" by Nagato and most of his subordinates.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Nagato is in love with Kinjiro, while Kinjiro only views him as a friend.
  • Arc Villain: Kitaida Kinjirou is the main antagonist of the Black-suited Gentlemen arc.
  • Expy: Kinjirou looks a bit like Kyo Kusanagi doesn't he?
  • Giant Mook: Sayama and Nagato are the biggest brutes of the whole gang and are second to Kinjiro.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: Kinjiro claims to hate women, but he shows vague attraction to Mina's breasts, and falls in love with Maki in the manga.
  • Mister Seahorse: Nagato, if he's to be believed. He thinks he can get pregnant with Kinjiro's babies.
  • Straight Gay: Nagato loudly declares that he loves Kinjiro and would sleep with him if he asked. Of course, the way he goes about professing his feelings makes him unsettling.
  • We Have Reserves: The League of Black-suited Gentlemen are an entire army of themselves. Knock a few down and more will show up.
