In order to wish a happy beginning to 2019, Yostar released "Wishness", an energetic quartet featuring the four starter destroyers (Javelin, Laffey, Ayanami and Z23).
From the second anniversary comes this beautiful piece. Sung by Kiesza, with violin music from Lindsey Stirling and artworks by the famed Dishwasher1910, it not only comforts the listener but urges them to continue onward to greatness, seemingly the last words of Yorktown to Enterprise when the former sank at the fateful Battle of Midway.
Azur Lane's third anniversary begins its celebration campaign with the Hot-Blooded"As a route of ray", sung by none other than T.M.Revolution. For added bonus and hilarity, he gets to cosplay as Enterprise in some of the short video's shots. He also eventually did a full version of the song with the "third anniversary" reference removed and released it as a single!
"Blue Spirit", the main theme for the "Universe in Unison" event, puts into the spotlight an idol quintet consisting of Illustrious, Baltimore, Dido, Tashkent and Albacore.
For the introduction of Operation Siren game mode, Beverly sang a timeless ballad in the form of "Signal". The English version, originally featured as the second track on the album, makes an appearance once you reach the SP/EX Stages of the "Mirror Involution" event.
Go where the wind is calling us, seeking the answer we can find No matter where the world will take us, we will carry on Fighting together 'til the end, with all the power left inside No one can take away the future that you hold.
The boss fight theme for Stage 6-4, which pits you against Yuudachi, is an intense mix of orchestra and eurobeat riffs that wouldn't sound out of place in a Touhou Project fangame.
In fact, the similarity has been so well received, one nicovideo user even remixed the track to add the trumpets and piano notes that make up ZUN's signature musical style.
devilish5150 made a hard metal cover that's bound to make you shiver before the Mad Dog of Solomon.
The Japanese music circle Active NEETs reimagined the theme as if it was played live with a full orchestra, and it's glorious, to say the least.
Frigid Winter Crown Part 2 conveys the frigid cold of the Tundra and the majestic atmosphere of the Winter.
In the Crimson Echoes event, once Kaga and Amagi finally come to blows in an emotional duel to settle their rivalry, "Souzetsu Gekkou", one of the few insert songs in the game, starts blaring on your speakers, with Sumire Uesaka's fiery vocals and an amazing backing track from musician Hige Driver ensuring that fans remember the track well after the event is done and gone.
The boss theme for the Ink-Stained Steel Sakura event brings out the electric guitars in full force for a heavy metal track underscored by the event's omnipresent traditional flute.
The lobby theme for the Crosswave raid event is an upbeat piece of music set to what sounds like hammers striking steel.
"Kanjou Loyalty" from event "Universe in Unison" showcases the idol version of the Yandere duo Roon and Taihou. True to the singers' personalities, this hard rock song is as alluring as it is terrifying.
Let's dye the azure sea deeper than the sun, in the red color of love
The second battle theme of the Khorovod of Dawn's Rime sounds like something Owl City would compose for Azur Lane if Manjuu commissioned him to do so. Must be the synth and the snowy background...
While the "Mirror Involution" event mostly reuses the previous events' BGM, a new, heavy metal track joins the fray as Souryuu META abruptly attacks you and changes the event's mood.
Since the launch of the Operation Siren expansion, "Sail Away Justice" by Anna Suzuki has been greeting players who enter the Battle menu, and those who continue from there to the Commissions menu. It's a catchy, hard rocking piece that would work quite nicely as an anime opening. Several fan vids have attempted to do just that, using a mix of game and anime footage. An instrumental version plays as the boss music during the Ashes showdowns.
"Pledge of the Radiant Court" brings glory to the Royal Navy through its diverse soundtrack of map, stage, and battle themes. Depending on the specific track, one will be exposed to anything ranging from militaristic fanfare to fast-paced fusion compositions of Electronic and Classical or Flamenco. Some of these are complemented by a One-Woman Wail for a dramatic flair fitting the circumstances of what the story entails.
The opening theme, "graphite/diamond" by May'n, is an energetic rock ballad backed by the occasional choir and the singer's own powerful voice; a great pick for each episode's start.
The ending song, "Hikari no Michishirube" by Kano, helps you calm down the rush of emotions with the conclusion of each episode with its soothing melody.
The Character Song Singles do justice to the singing prowess of the Japanese voice actresses. To wit:
Volume 1 has Enterprise take the lead with "Pledge of Liberation", another powerful rock ballad that sounds like it could have competed with "graphite/diamond" for the opening credits song.
Volume 2 easens things up with Laffey singing us an insanely cute lullaby in the aptly-named "Sleeping Wonderland". Feeling comfy and sleepy yet? Because Laffey definitely is.
Volume 3 showcases Javelin with an upbeat pop song in "Just Very Quickly!", just in case you were waiting for a Slice of Life-inspired musical piece.
Volume 4 has Ayanami grace our ears with "Near Your Side", a relaxing disco number with a lot of "-desu". Funnily enough, the first verse sounds a lot like Rick Astley's infamous "Never Gonna Give You Up". Can't unhear that!
Volume 5 crashes the party with Z23's Sabaton-inspired"Wissen ist Macht!!"note German for "Knowledge is power", which is hands down the most hardcore power metal song in this collection. It really does make up for Nimi's painfully small screentime in the series proper.
Volume 6 has Unicorn upstage Laffey in the cuteness department with "Yell for All", a warm and fuzzy lullaby that goes hand in hand with Unicorn's soft-spoken nature.
Volume 7 has Cleveland sing a vibrant rock single, "Complex Shooting", which is clearly inspired by various Slice of Life anime songs from the early 2000s.
In case the brutality of Z23's Image Song wasn't enough, Volume 8 provides us with Kaga's wild ride of a Villain Song, "Itoshi Ouka yo Chiru Nakare". Its lyrics reflect Kaga's ruthless determination to fullfill her role to the best of her abilities, consequences be damned.
The Character Song Singles are immediately followed by five Buddy Character Song Singles that feature engaging duets (or a quartet in one case) between different characters, much to the fandom's hearing pleasure.
Volume 2 is Sumire Uesaka performing a triumphant Solo Duet as Queen Elizabeth and Warspite in "Welcome To Brilliant Party☆", with the vocal contrast between the two battleships being clear as day and night.
In Volume 3, Cleveland comes back to the charge, this time backed with Columbia, Denver and Montpelier for a blockbuster of a rock and roll quartet in "ALL 4 SISTER!!!!".
Volume 4 is all about Takao and Atago performing a traditional rock duet in "Gekirin Ranbu!!", wild koto riffs and frantic flute whispers included.
Volume 5 ends the Buddy collection with "Re:frain", performed by Enterprise and Akagi in a passionate rock duet—or duel, in their case.
Every volume in the aforementioned songs collection comes with each voice actress' rendition of "Yuukyuu no Catharsis" note literally "Eternity's Catharsis", with the melody being so catchy, fans took pleasure in mixing the different versions together with excellent results.
