Authors and Websites

  • Admiral Fluffy
    • Recommended by severak
    • Notes: A writer of various short-to-medium length stories featuring the Commander's relationships with the Shipgirls, patterned after the in-game Secretary Quests. Said stories cover quite a variety of shipgirls, ranging from Akagi and Yorktown, to Bismarck and Duke of York. Generally shipping focused, but enjoyable by just about anyone in the fandom.

  • Just A New Leader
    • Recommended by severak
    • Notes: A writer of stories focused on meshing the girls of Azur Lane with their historical counterparts, essentially bridging the world of the game with real-world history. Their best works so far would be Hearts of Oak, a one-shot series that tells the stories of the Royal Navy girls from their own persepectives, Choukai in Three Parts, a Choukai-focused three part story that delves into the history of the Guadalcanal Campaign, and The Rules of the Game, a pseudo-prequel set during World War One. Their current project is Knowledge is Power, a 40K Crossover Fic. A great read for anyone with an interest in real-world history.

  • Archive Slabe
    • Recommended by severak
    • Notes: Another writer of character-focused slice of life stories, mainly based around the Commander's interactions with the various members of his fleet. A bit rough around the edges in their earlier writings, but has significantly honed their craft since. The stories are mostly canon to each other, but the overwhelming majority can be read as standalones.

General Fics
Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

  • Chronicles of the Siren War by Sabaton Babylon.
    • Recommended by ThorIngerman
    • Status: Active.
    • Synopsis: Andrew Thorson arrives at Pearl Harbor to take part of Eagle Union's secret project in their hopes in turning the war to their favor. However, Sakura Empire arrives at their doorsteps. Thorson escapes with the help from USS Laffey and now, it's up to them to continue the project and gather as many Kansen to build an effective fighting force.
    • Comments: An incredible war epic that not only is the perfect "adaptation" of the Azur Lane series but also an in-depth look into one of the greatest conflicts in history. Now has its own trope page.

  • Oathsworn, by Grand Leviathan.
    • Recommended by severak
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: Fate is not stagnant; it is a constantly-shifting tide that changes with the slightest of breezes, ever-moving and unrelenting. All it takes to avert ones fate, is the will of one determined soul. A determined soul armed with torpedoes, that is.
    • Comments: A story where U-556 gets that chance to fulfill her Oath to Lord Bismarck. A very touching exploration of the relationship between "The Sisters In The Ways". Somewhat shippy, but mostly in the later chapters. A great read for anyone that had their hearts broken by "Scherzo of Iron and Blood".

  • Commander Enterprise, by Arguing Pizza.
    • Recommended by severak
    • Status: In Progress
    • Synopsis: Azur Lane is whole once more and ready to take the war to the Sirens. Chosen to lead them, Enterprise steps into the unfamiliar shoes of command-and all the problems that come with it. As Enterprise is to discover, modern war is only two percent heart-pounding terror, action, valor, and glory. The rest is paperwork, tedium, and headaches.
    • Comments: An animeverse Slice-of-Life story that deals with how Azur Lane is run on a day-to-day basis. Funny, well-written and with great characterizations for the whole cast.

  • Akagi Squared, by Ethan Forsythe.
    • Recommended by Klaudandus
    • Status:Active
    • Synopsis: A webcomic focusing "mostly" on the antics of Akagi-chan around the naval base.
    • Comment: Has its own trope page.

  • The Commander by UH-60 NIGHTSTALKER
    • Reccomended by Victorio M Wolff-Haddock
    • Status: Active
    • Synopsis: With Azur Lane and Red Axis in an alliance, A new commander is sent to take command. But he soon realizes that the Sirens would be the least of his worries
    • Comments: Post-Anime. besides the new Admiral, the story also focused on the fate of Kaga & Akagi, now that the news of their previous alliance with The Sirens are known, and barely dodged being scrapped due to the Empire's plea, and now must prove themselves atoned by joining the new alliance.

Shipping Fics
Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

  • Mighty Eagle, Calm Nest, by Salvo 519
    • Recommended by severak
    • Status: In Progress
    • Synopsis: Since the division of Azur Lane and the battles with the Crimson Axis, Enterprise has found herself suffering from a crisis of identity. The belief of what she needed to be had been torn apart by the ongoing conflict and the persistent visions of a dark reality that comes to pass because of those same ideals that she relies upon. With the war ready to be renewed at a moment’s notice and the Siren threat always lurking, Enterprise finds herself adrift; a ghost who has resigned herself to whatever the next fight may be with no other life beyond that.

Belfast has chosen to use a supply run to London as an opportunity for Enterprise to reawaken the spirit that had been smothered by duty, making a request for Eagle Union’s carrier to accompany her during the full length of the supply acquisition and completion of her own refit. It’s a selfish request, unfit for the head of the Maid Corps, but something she may discover is that the feelings she hold demand that she become more than that for the shipgirl she had chosen to dedicate herself to.

But as always, the unseen overseers of this world are taking dangerous intrigue in this latest anomaly that is burgeoning in one of their more promising timelines.
    • Notes: A deep dive into the universe of the Anime, this fic is a fantastic exploration of the relationship between anime-verse Enterprise and Belfast, and just why said relationship works. Features some much-needed fleshing out and worldbuilding for the anime-verse as well, taking the show's major themes (especially exploring the humanity of the shipgirls) and running with them. Any Azur Lane fan that enjoyed the Anime but thought it never lived up to its full potential should give this fic a try.

  • Sakura-Steel by Admiral_Fluffy
    • Recommended by Coalen 1942
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: The Commander wakes up and finds himself alone on board a Sakura Empire cruiser shrouded in a mysterious fog. Trapped, he runs into Takao, and the two of them must uncover the mystery of what happened and how they can escape...
    • Comments: A small, 15 chapter length fic in which the Commander and Takao find themselves trapped and have to put aside their differences. It does a good job of combining fluff and mystery together.
