MLLSD Chapter 26: Another Sick Episode

The chapter is one that focuses on St. Gloriana. As Pekoe sits in bed with a fever of 38 degrees Celsius (Just over 100 degres Fahrenheit), Darjeeling approaches Assam, informing her that Pekoe "caught a cold." Darjeeling declares this "a serious affair," and tries to decide between nurse outfits.

Pekoe, in bed, laments having to take a break from training, and wonders if Darjeeling will come over, but concludes she doesn't have the time. After hearing something, she looks outside and sees Darjeeling accompanied by Assam and an entourage of St. Gloriana girls

Darjeeling and Assam come into Pekoe's room. Pekoe greets them, and Darjeeling insists that Pekoe get back into bed. In an unusually detailed nonverbal exchange, Assam apologizes for not stopping Darjeeling, and Pekoe reassures her.

Once Pekoe's back in bed, Darjeeling turns to the people outside and quiets them down by placing a "No Visitors" sign on the door and shutting it, causing them to worry how bad Pekoe's condition is.

Darjeeling asks whether Pekoe prefers the regular nurse look, that of a classic British nurse, or a Japanese tea house lady, but Pekoe insists that the thought is enough, and she likes the usual Darjeeling, resulting in a Les Yay moment between them.

The three girls have tea at 3:00 in the afternoon, but Darjeeling, after seeing that Pekoe not react well to drinking the tea, realizes "Ah, crap! I totally forgot I came here to nurse Pekoe!"

Darjeeling brings in some cold medicines, but Pekoe points out that they're usually taken after meals. As Darjeeling puts an apron on, Pekoe thinks "Bollocks!", knowing what kind of cook Darjeeling is.

Pekoe begs Assam to help, but Assam mentions that she already had lunch, but offers to let Pekoe's class know that she will be gone for two weeks. Darjeeling gives a somewhat cutesy thank you to Pekoe for waiting and Pekoe dreads what's inside, but sees that it's a regular rice porridge. Darjeeling simply says that you can't nurse someone with fish and chips, and blows on it before feeding a spoonful to Pekoe, who gets a Luminescent Blush. Assam tries to get a spoonful, but Darjeeling reminds her that they ate lunch together.

The time comes for the two third-years to go home, and as Pekoe thanks Darjeeling for coming, Darjeeling tells her to wrap herself up properly. Pekoe marvels at how Darjeeling nursed her more normally than she thought, and considers apologizing, until Darjeeling gives her a package full of the foods that she made in Chapter 5.

As Darjeeling and Assam go home, Assam teases Darjeeling about enjoying herself, and says that as a precaution, they should wash their mouths and hands. Unfortunately, it's too late for Assam, who starts to cough and gets dragged off by Darjeeling.

All in all, this was a fairly good chapter, probably better than most of the chapters in the twenties thus far, but the premise was a bit of a rehash of the first MLLSD chapter, AT ST. GLORIANA. It was also fairly short (8 pages, one of which mainly has Darjeeling in her nurse outfits), so I can perhaps see why it would be easier to translate this than to do a chapter of Ribbon Warrior or Maginot with a lot of dialogue, although I hope the latter two get off the back burner before long.

Next Installment: Maginot begins to gain the upper hand against Oarai.
