This is a really great Aang-gets-The-Talk fic that plays with the whole "grew up in an all-male environment". Most Avatar writers assume that Aang at 12-13 still needs to hear "the facts of life" and thus will hear it from either his clueless dorky friend (Zuko), his girlfriend's older brother (Sokka), his girlfriend's father (Hakoda), or the Cool Dirty Old Man (Iroh). The author of this fic assumes (rightly, as someone who went to a single-sex school can attest) that in the single sex environment of a free love culture that the older (teenage) monks would take a special delight in 'educating' the younger ones. It contrasts sharply to Sokka's haphazard attempt later in the story.
