Speaking from someone who does like Micron Legend despite it not being a perfect show, the idea of Superlink as a series that followed the events that take place after Micron Legend does sound promising, and to this show's credit it starts out quite well plot-wise. Unfortunately, I find the show as a whole turned out quite disappointing both as a show on its own or as a follow-up of Micron Legend, and the show only turned out to be just like basically the Gundam SEED Destiny of the Transformers franchise.
Energon/Superlink has a good start, with a set-up of potentially cool plot threads and character arcs.
Its predecessor, Armada/Micron Legend does started out rough but manages to form an identity, and has a clearer flow plot-wise as it goes on.
Unfortunately, this show plot-wise was all over the place as it goes on; as if the writers had no clear idea of who they wanted the protagonist to be, so the story as a whole suffered.
For some reason, Superlink also likes to bring characters who die in Micron Legend back, for some reason even if it makes no sense narrative-wise.
The casts who returned from Micron Legend like C Onvoy or Hot Rod only ended up as a bland shell, or a more obnoxious caricature of themselves in Superlink.
The way Superlink uses character development was just abysmal, and all of the potentially interesting character arcs ended up getting nowhere or ended in a completely unsatisfying way.
