Fun (if a little scary at times) movie for kids

I first watched it over 15 years ago or so when I was maybe 6, and still love this movie. It’s my favorite adaptation of The Three Little Pigs that I’ve seen, and also funny enough, it’s my dad’s favorite adaptation of the story as well.

While some parts are maybe a little too intense for some kids, the film is otherwise pretty good. The story is solid, the voices are well acted, the humor is decent, the songs are catchy, and the characters have fairly realistic motivations.

The only parts of the film that are lacking, is that the animation quality is not as consistent as it could be, with some scenes being very well animated, only to be followed up by the characters moving & talking at what looks like maybe 4 frames per second, and that a few of the lines could have used better direction, or perhaps a different take. I think the film may have been in French originally, so the two above points come together to form some very bad lip-syncing at times, although thankfully the people in charge of the English dub (the version I’ve seen) appear to have prioritized trying to get the emotions across for the voice acting, rather than trying to make what the voice actors say match the choppy animation.

If I had to give it a rating from 1-10, nostalgia aside, I would give it 6.8/10.
