When I was a kid, I was obsessed with this show. I admin'd the wiki, I wrote fanfictions, and I dedicated an absurd amount of time to analyzing every last little bit of it. In analyzing it, my deep love began to fade, as I noticed the plot holes, the inconsistent or sloppy characterization, the Romantic Plot Tumor... and while I still found it fascinating, I could no longer truly enjoy it.
Then I started to rewatch it, and...
It's a little bit of both. It's still got a lot going for it: fun characters, a good plot, a good villain, and a whole lot of genuine entertainment value. On the other hand, it's very silly and overdramatic, with a lot of dumb little things I overlooked as a kid. I watch it and remember why I loved it so much, but I also understand why it didn't click with everyone- and why I eventually outgrew the obsession.
Solid 8/10, though. It's an absolute gem to watch again, even if some of the fun comes from the sheer silliness of some scenes, rather than anything intentional.
Good, but nothing to obsess over.
