Starry, Starry Night

Okay, I couldn't think of a good title.

Night Sky is an unusual game for me. I usually prefer games that are more story-heavy, and I don't really play a whole lot of platformers. This one caught my eye mainly due to the title and the game's artstyle, since I rather like the silhouette against dusk look of the game. I wasn't disappointed.

In this game, you play as a sphere, capable of moving left or right. In each level, you have some combination of three abilities; lowering your friction thus raising your possible speed but being harder to control; raising your friction, making it easier to control and climb slopes, but giving you little speed and momentum, and reversing the orientation of gravity, the rarest of the three. Every level requires you to figure out where and how, exactly, to use the available abilities. The game is frequently difficult, both in the figuring out and the execution, but it never feels overwhelming or unfair. I was expecting something more relaxing, but it did make for an engrossing experience.

I recommend it.
