A definite improvement from the first film

I can safely say that I prefer this movie over the first. The plot is more edgy and mature than the last film, and the fight scenes are awesome. The humour is on point; that scene with the blind rabbit playing the guitar never gets old.

Also, I found Shen to be a great villain; Gary Oldman gives a great performance. I find him to be a very intimidating and lethal antagonist that fits in well with this storyline. He serves as a great mental opponent for Po; he's one of those kinds of villains who can really get inside your head and exploit your innermost fears. I really enjoy that kind of thing in a villain.

And give the movie credit for getting big martial arts names like Jean-Claude Van Damme and Michelle Yo involved in the picture. That I really admire.

My only complaint was the whole Mr. Ping not being Po's real father thing. It honestly shouldn't be that surprising. Also it almost felt like Ping was using his adoptive son's title as a way to better market his own shop. I don't know, I guess that's just a nitpick.

Overall, it's a fairly decent movie, a definite improvement from the first, and a solid 8/10 for me.

SKADOOSH!

(Sorry if I misspelled names in this)

Was the adoption thing treated as surprising? I certainly didn't get that impression, especially with Tigress essentially going "well, duh" when Po brings it up. The whole joke is that it took so long for Po to figure it out despite being blatantly obvious.

Mr. Ping is indeed using Po's success to get more money. So what? It's clear that he's genuinely proud of his son and his accomplishments. The fact that his son also makes him richer is just a nice bonus. Who wouldn't do the same in that situation?

Otherwise, I agree with you completely. I'm just nitpicking your nitpicks. :P
