Marvel's Best Animated Feature...which isn't Saying Much

The last of the Marvel animated features produced with Lionsgate is a bit better than the others...which isn't saying much given the quality of the others.

The initial ideas are good ones. A teenage Thor eager to prove himself goes on a dangerous quest and gets in over his head. The world presented features Thor and Loki as friends and explores a world where the giants and not Asgard are the supreme power in the nine worlds. The animation itself is not bad.

However, virtually everything else brings it down. The Warriors Three go from valiant warriors to braggarts stealing credit for the deeds of others. The writers confused the Norse Valkyries with man-hating Greek Amazons. Odin for some reason makes Thor's training useless by ordering the guards to lose instead of having Thor do something useful and train. Oh, and Thor has to learn humility...again. It would be nice for one story to come along and feature Thor as the badass viking war god and not an arrogant fool who constantly needs lessons in humility.

Overall, worth a rental but even for Thor fans a big disappointment.
