I'm not sure if the Sith Emperor should be considered The Scrappy anymore. Vitiate arguably so but his Valkorion persona is more of a Base Breaker and there are vocal fans of the character it turns out. Also in regards to Episodes VII-IX the Vitiate= Snoke theorists are just as vocal in regards to the new canon as the Plagueis= Snoke theorists. I don't think if the character is really hated there would be a vocal group calling him to be not only re-canonized, but made the Big Bad of the Sequel Trilogy as a whole.

Of course you can point out the Darth Jar Jar theory, but I highly suspect that to be more of a troll theory done for the lulz that just happened to get too much publicity.

Scrappy.

Is there any validation on Doc actually being that hated? The trope Scrappy is very strong word around here & I don't see being in the same category like Skadge. Not to mention that his actions aren't nearly controversial as Quinn, Saresh, Vik, or even the Knight's own companions (T7 being the sole exception). Heck as far I'm concern he's not that different from Tharan.

...Well, nuts.

Okay, we've got an outright argument in the page here. Crimson Zephyr hates the idea of a "light-sided Sith" so much that he's willing to call Canon Defilement on the whole thing. I think that's an unnecessarily narrow-minded interpretation of the facts as they stand.

What are the thoughts of the board?

Cut. There is no evidence that the Light Side Sith Warrior and Inquisitor actually follow the Sith religion. Conversations with Light Side Jaesa and Ashara indicate that the light side Sith classes are only pretending to believe in the Sith Code and related parts of being a Sith.

One of the most fundamental parts of the Star Wars lore is that there is only good and evil in the Force (even if people are otherwise characterized in shades of grey), and those who draw on the Dark Side's power are evil with a capital E, even if they pay lip service to the idea that they will reform the Sith, the Empire, or what have you. Making a Sith actually altruistic or good is in direct contradiction to the lore — to be a Sith, you have to dedicate yourself to the Dark Side. When you dedicate yourself to Dark Side, you turn evil. End of story. When a Sith actually does good, he ceases to be a Sith. Guys, this idea is like one of the ten commandments of the Star Wars setting. It's not new, and it's still Canon Defilement even if it actually makes for perhaps a more nuanced story.

In SWTOR, Sith is the term used for Force users who are aligned with the Empire. Being called a Sith does not in any way mean that you are dedicated to the Dark Side, although being a light sided Sith is a capital offense in the Empire.

Ditto. Even then, I would argue that there are "light-sided" non-Jedi force users in the Star Wars universe, just as there are non-Sith "dark-siders".

I agree that you can't be "dark-sided" and a good person, but both the Sith characters, if they aren't "dark-siders," are explicitly not well-educated or -indoctrinated in the organization's ideology and can come up with their own, benign, interpretations in dialogue.

Ugh, that's still a complete contradiction of the most fundamental aspects of the lore. The Sith ideology is a concrete acceptance of the Dark Side. It's why every Sith Lord is an Ax-Crazy murderer, one way or another. Even if it makes for more nuanced storytelling, it's still, oddly enough, Canon Defilement.

But Light-sided Sith explicitly don't adhere to the Sith ideology. There's no conflict with the lore at all.

Light-sided Sith are called Sith because the Empire assumes that all of its trained Force-users follow the Sith Code (and any trained Force user who does not is guilty of a capitol offense).
