This has been discussed ad nauseum on ATT—an coincidence in time does not cause this trope.

As I've always understood it, the "in hindsight" tropes require a more direct link than "these things happened at about the same time".

There is, for example, no direct link whatever between John McCain dying of cancer and an anime portraying bodily cells as people having a character for Cancer.

There's no harsher in hindsight for the simple reason that there's no hindsight.
