I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to classify Sousuke Taira from Kaoru's sequel: Bunny-Ears Lawyer, Cloud Cuckoolander, Ditzy Genius, some or all of the above? I've been looking for some brand of "eccentric artist" trope, but we don't quite seem to have one.

(Personally, he creeps me right the hell out, but I'm trying to stick with purely objective in-universe tropes right now.)

Frankly, I think a case could be made for The Wonka as well (head in the clouds, but feet firmly on the ground, and able to function as an authority figure), but I can't find a trope that matches 100% without shoehorning.

I think you nailed it with your Alternative Character Interpretation entry, mind. Since we don't see him interact with anyone other than the protagonist and Kaoru, I can't help but think that the game itself is trying to be ambiguous about whether or not Taira is exactly who he seems to be.

On the whole, I think he's a throwaway character, and whoever wrote him badly miscalculated the fine line between "tease" and "rapey" (insert grumbling about throwbacks to the early days of Voltage and Ryoichi here). Mind you, Wataru isn't a whole hell of a lot better, but that's a whole 'nother conversation right there.

At least Minato's sequel is better at actually presenting Wataru's behavior as Not Okay and the protagonist is legitimately uncomfortable around him as a result, as opposed to her complete wide-eyed insistence throughout Kaoru's sequel that Taira really is a nice man, just eccentric.

But now I'm just griping, so I will stop. I think for the time being I'll hold off on adding anything along the abovementioned axis unless someone can find a trope that doesn't require a shoehorn.
