I edited up the beginning part of this article to sound less like anti bullshit and be more neutral. The entire page reads like an attack on erotic content (it explicitly condemned PWP before I edited it out) and judging people for rape fantasy, as well as feminization of bottoms (there was a whole load of femme-phobic bullshit there about "schoolgirl with a penis" seriously, it was disgusting). It reads like it was written by people who have never read any BL manga written after 2010, or who haven't really been in erotic fanfic communities.
I also removed the condemnations of PWP, foeyay, hurtcomfort, and mpreg. There's absolutely nothing wrong with these tropes, and it's bullshit that this page is saying you shouldn't write them.
But the rest of the page is still awful. It just reads like "how dare you have these sexual fantasies, you're wrong and cancelled." There's something to be said about homophobic tropes, but the sort of anti-sex attitude on this page is far more damaging than 90's BL tropes that have been dying for years.
And most of all, this page isn't about "how to write a good yaoi," this page is about "how to appease antis." It doesn't say anything about narrative or romance or story. I think the whole thing should be deleted, tbh.
Edited by relmneiko"Rape as Backstory: Deserves a dishonorable mention for just how damn common it is in yaoi/slash."
Homosexual men whom have been raped or sexually abused in their past, is extremely common in real life so it's kind of garbage to disregard that as some random cliche that should be avoided simply because it's common. The other reasons are good enough reasons to avoid rape as a backstory. Common in a fantasy setting doesn't mean invalid/unrealistic.
Edited by SpookyGh0st2. Your uke should not be giving a handjob to his seme (or vice versa) without lubrication. This is especially so if the seme is circumcised. Your uke might have dry hands or go too hard and chafe him! And that's not fun for any of the parties concerned. So again, lube is a must! Either mention it in the Lemon scene, or don't put in a lemon at all. Otherwise, you'll break the Willing Suspension of Disbelief.
These are both rather inaccurate. Unless I am wrong, the anus does have natural lubrication (if a bit weak), which is used for, well, the more natural anal activities. However, unless you're into scatplay, proper hygiene usually completely removes the lubricant.
Also, the "handjob needs lubrication" seems more subjective than anything. Some guys need "wet" masturbation, but others can go at it "dry"
With that being said, I don't really know how to edit this without removing it entirely, or being all nattery.
Edited by MrAHR Read my stories! Hide / Show RepliesFrom the context, I think it's pretty clear that we're talking about lubricating enough to perform penetrative anal sex. There are folk who can go without lube, but even in porn, this is an example of Reality Is Unrealistic; taking even a fairly small sex toy with the help of copious lube can be tricky for the inexperienced. It might be funnier to mention what lubricant will logically come to mind should nothing else come to mind, but the statement's clear enough for the purposes of the article.
Handjobs... there are some guys who can't get off from 'dry' handjobs, or even from handjobs at all, but 'dry' male masturbation's pretty common and pretty commonly successful. I've never seen someone complain about having lubricant for that particular deed, though, so if it's already going to be present (and point one requires it), ignoring the little bottle when it could be very useful is a little odd.
I'll see if I can clean them up.
