Ok, this business about JJ's intelligence is quite inaccurate- several times, there are references to his intelligence, and he passed all his exams with flying colours

How come there are currently only nine entries in the history? I was trying to see who added The "Fun" in "Funeral" so I could message them a warning about spoiler-tagging Death Tropes, but it only goes back nine entries.

This one needs to be rewritten. Example Indentation: triple stars are for sub-sub-examples so are rarely needed. They don't substitute for the paragraph break markup: end with \, \ by itself on the next line. The first sub-example doesn't have enough details as per How To Write An Example, neither does the fourth. The second isn't written as a confident example of a the trope, with details of how the trope works out such that a non-viewer can make sense of it. A qualification or justification doesn't get us anywhere substantial. The third sub-example "chains" off the second — probably better to either be stand-alone or combined with the above.

Suggest dropping the spoilertext: it's nigh unreadable as-is. Please see Handling Spoilers.

  • Stalker with a Crush:
    • Sketch, to Maxxie.
    • Emily's pursuit of Naomi has traces of this too. Plus, it's not like Naomi didn't encourage it to an extent.
      • If the S4 Finale is anything to go by... she encouraged it for certain, seeing as she fell in love with Emily when they were 12. Hindsight suggests the Alternate Character Interpretation that Naomi may even have been stalking Emily for a while at the start of S3...
    • And in S4... Naomi has a - far less likeable - new stalker, in the late Sophia. Of course, it turns out that she may have encouraged that one too...
      Emily: "You're very stalkable."
    • John Foster also counts as one.

PROTIP: Do NOT add death spoilers to SUMMARIES. Especially spoilers of that nature.

It was two years ago. I'm pretty sure there's a statute of limitations on this stuff. (No, I wasn't the one who added it.)

Assuming the description is the way it was in July 2010, I think it's fine since it doesn't mention which character gets killed off.

Does anyone know why the strikethrough parts of the Curb-Stomp Battle example are not showing up. No one deleted them; they are still there if you go to Edit Page, but they are not showing up on the main article.

So, are we going to create a separate article for Skins USA or bundle it in with this one?

I think we should start a policy of splitting articles if the Transatlantic Equivalent gets past either (a) one series, or (b) just copying the original material with different accents.

i.e., Coupling just gets a footnote on the original page, but The Office should really have two pages.

Yeah, The Office US is (as I understand it - I haven't watched either version) a sufficiently different beast now. Life On Mars also has a new article for its US equivalent.

Skins USA, based on the first trailer, fails this test so far (seeing as it's a differently accented but otherwise identical recycling of the first UK trailer).

Skins USA seems to be diverging at the second episode, and will probably warrant its own page soon.

Don't count on that - what's been shown of Chris's episode is very similar to UK Chris's Series 1 episode. The second episode was different only because it focused on Tea, the sole original character.

yeah, well, cadie's episode has shown that they are taking a different approach to the character. i was assuming that because there are clearly going to be more than eight episodes of the usa version, they would go off into different directions, but i guess we'll wait and see.

It's only different from the original in the sense that UK Gen 2 and Gen 3 are different from Gen 1, and even less so actually because so many of the US version's characters and plots are based on UK Gen 1 characters and plots (even if they do take some different approaches). I think the US version should get its own page if and only if it manages to survive beyond one generation (not one season).

Re the note on Franky being genderqueer and pansexual - can we avoid placing any identity markers on a character unless they explicitly identify as such? So far Franky has not claimed either.

If people are claiming outright she is genderqueer and/or pansexual, yeah, we should get rid of that.

However, if you're talking about the stuff on her character page, where her "I'm into people" self-description is described as a possible definition of pansexuality - I don't think that is a problem. No one is outright stating that's the label she uses, simply that's how others would characterize her based on statements she has made.

I also think that people are confusing the word "genderqueer" for "androgynous." "Genderqueer" has to do with how you identify, "androgynous" has to do with how you look. Franky clearly identifies as female, she just has a very gender-non-specific appearance. That would make her androgynous, but not genderqueer.

Whoever is adding all the Generation 3 stuff has really terrible command of grammar, capitalization, punctuation, etc. to the point where it's getting exhausting finding and fixing it all. Should we perhaps add a note about it?

Just putting a note on here with discussion since this keeps happening -

Ivy League schools do offer some sports scholarships. They are rare, but I've known people who got into Harvard that way. So please stop adding in that they don't EVER do it, as that is not true. And anyway, the point with Thomas is that he'd been expelled AND had just taken up running, so his chances of getting in anywhere on a sports scholarship, much less Harvard, are damn near impossible.

I made a note when I edited it out, but I wanted to put it here as well.

Considering that series 5 is starting soon, and subsequently a new generation is about, will it be worth splitting tropes on the main page into catergories ala "All Series" "Generation 1" "Generation 2" and "Generation 3" ?

I like the original format, as it allows people to add things as they start to notice them in more than one generation. With that format, you'd have to be moving things between different tabs when you notice they're either exclusive to one generation or not so exclusive, and that would get exhausting - especially with the new series since, as it develops, we're bound to notice some tropes from the earlier series reappearing.
