Is it worth revamping this to take in the original novels, or should the appalling Ewart Bäckström get a Works page of his own? I didn't realise the books have already been televised, after a fashion: on another website I was speculating that they'd be the next Scandinavian-noir cop show to come to Britain after the Bridge, Wallander, et c.

I see Paul A has transferred my input to a dedicated Literature page. Thank you!

Damn. Eager to see what sort of a fist the yanks make of the adaptation, but the series appears universally blocked on copyright grounds or "not available in your region". Such extracts as I've been able to glimpse suggest it's not too horrible and they've managed to preserve something of the spirit of the original - although they've made the loathsome fat idiot Backstrom far too glamorous and given him a genius the original character simply does not possess. The Swedish TV version is far closer to the conception.
