Do we really need the images at the top of each page??!!!

I read some of these entries to check for possibly good and scary scps, but a big ass image of a bunny with blood shot eyes and huge claws, a gif with mutilated corpses or a face staring at me from the abyss are definitely SOMETHING I DON'T WANT TO SEE upon first loading the page. This would be like me putting SCP-1875 as an image for the SCP 1000-2000 page. Or at least hide them with a spoiler tag so that whoever wants to be scared the beejezus out of them can do so at their leisure while the rest of us read the descriptions.

When will somebody make the SCP-5000 to 5999 page? The challenge recently ended.

About SCP-280-JP; is it possible to refresh the page to show the original details when everything goes blank it at the very end? If so, that might be seen as Nightmare Retardant...

Yes it will. It also happens even if you just press the button once.

Why do we have the High Octane Nightmare Fuel widget at the top of the page if it just redirects to Nightmare Fuel? Can we remove it?

Wait a minute, it says in the Shy Guy's section that there are pictures on the Internet and The Foundation is removing them. What part of the article on SCP-092 actually says this?

Nowhere, because 092 is 5-Dimensional Copy of CD by "The 5th Dimension".

Yeah, I thought this wouldn't work.

  • I shivered and pulled my coat closer as I stepped onto the doorstep of the nightclub. The bouncer, who seemed more concerned with his cell phone game than his job, waved me in, muttering softly, "SCP-1893 is a mysterious entity that rewrites any information written about it into a fictional narrative." I rolled my eyes and then peered around the establishment, wincing at the bright strobe lights. My gaze eventually fell on one of the tables with a large man with tattoos over his eyebrows, sitting impassively at a table with several others. I could catch a piece of their conversation: "-and the original documents contents are given out in the from of dialogue," said one excited woman wearing enough pearls to bankrupt a small nation. She noticed me and waved, and I had not choice but to sit down with them and let her finish her story. "The common element of the stories is a muscular man with tattoos of bull horns on his face, nicknamed 'the minotaur'. He will often kill the protagonist of each tale." One of the other women gasped, and her husband interjected, "The worst part is that, if you have an SCP Foundation account and are logged in, the dialogue will call you out by name." At that moment, I lost my temper, got up, and walked out, doing my best to ignore the pulsing in my temples. I didn't hear the man with the tattoos get up and follow me. I didn't hear what the bouncer yelled at me as I shoved past him: "Don't worry about reading too much, troper. You won't live long enough.

we do not allow fanfics to be put on the site's YMMV pages. I have removed the offending peice, and if someone wants to rerwite it so that it actually makes sense go right ahead.

For those unaware, SCP-1893 will turn any document about it into an unrelated story with characters reciting the document in dialogue form. In each of these stories, there will be a figure that is SCP-1893's "avatar", a muscular man with bullhorn tattoos. It's a very unnerving tale, especially since it calls out the reader by name if they are logged onto the wiki. I tried to recreate the sort of generic story that SCP-1893 often creates to demonstrate the Format Screw, but it looks like not many people got it.

Please give it a read if you're interested, it's a great story and one of my favorite SCPs.

If anyone has some suggestions for an alternate way to keep the screwed format while still being clear, I'd love to hear them. Sorry I posted this and confused so many of you.

Well, we could use commented-out notes above and below the entry that explain it and ask for it to be left alone.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I disagree. Breaking the Fourth Wall work well on humorous entries like that one about me, the toaster, or the book that remind you that you're a fish. Because their entries are short, and clear to be a joke, so fellow tropers know what you're doing fast enough. This? It's whole friggin paragraph that read like unrelate story.

Plus, it's much harder to take you seriously when you decide to "play" by jump across the fourth wall. And while you can make people who don't take you seriously laugh, you can't scare them.

Doing so on this is more annoying than frigthening. I say descript it like other entries (tell what it does, without reenacting its effect here) is better way.

^^That just feels like an unnatural solution. If a short story format doesn't work, it's not going to work with an justification and explanation.

^ I wasn't trying to be scary so much as interesting to other people so that they would click on the link. I guess I'll just try and put a regular description of the effects up, since the story format doesn't work at all.
