Tanuki IS an accepted english word.Try researching your words before you say that.
It's the actual english name for this mythical creature, the same way Minotaur is greek but is used in English, or Banshee and Irish.

Agreed. There are several examples, and the name is used regularly in English as well.

And even IF it was a Japanese title, for the sake of argument, WHY ARE WE CUTTING IT? You RENAME tropes if the title is wrong, you don't just cut them.

Wasn't me who declined the request to cut it last time, but this is a creature with a prominent role in Japanese mythology and certainly qualifies as a trope. Examples list is decent length, too.
