  • To reiterate, one of the Goodyear Blimps, the ancient, iconic antithesis of the Cool Airship, which are often seen hovering benignly over football stadiums, was the last legal PIRATE SHIP in the United States. The only other aircraft to hold a stronger Sky Pirate pedigree is the Zeppelin L23, which raided and captured an honest-to-goodness wooden sailing ship, the Dutch schooner Royal, on the high seas, in bad weather, with a flare gun.
  • That Other Wiki states that the "Goodyear Blimps" had no letter of marque. There it is writen: Various accounts refer to airships Resolute and Volunteer as operating under a "privateer status", but Congress never authorized a commission, nor did the President sign one.
