When the nuns confess their sabotage to the Mother Superior, we're treated to a Crowning Moment Of Funny.
Ratatouille : The health inspector discovers that there are rats in the restaurant. Remy sends some of them out to stop him from spilling the beans. The inspector's car fails to start for just long enough for the rats to hitch a ride.
These are not an examples — an inanimate car is not breaking down when the driver is under threat.
Transformers: The hero's car drives him and his love interest to a romantic, secluded spot and then stalls...just in time for the love interest to show off her auto mechanic skills (and her incredible ass). Of course, the car is actually an intelligent (and apparently mischievous) robot. The radio turning to romantic/provocative channels, however, probably kept to the trope. Bumblebee's kinda weird.
Or the world's greatest wingman.
...so if they do it in the car, does that count as a threesome?
This literalness (...probably) does not actually apply in the world of Warhammer 40000, but the Tech Priests and other members of the Imperial faction fervently believe it does.
Trope isn't about intelligent cars exercising active malice.
Fargo from Eureka gave his car an AI with emotions and then tried to sell it when the vehicle got too old. While the car was none too happy with Fargo this trope applies more to the person he sold it to, who complained that it only drove in reverse (and he thought it was possessed).
When this happens in Nobilis, it means your car actually hates you. In fact, any and ALL breakdowns signify a grumpy car-spirit; the actual effect of maintenance is not to reverse mechanical entropy but to make the car feel loved!
These are not examples: the trope doesn't cover sabotage.

This example needs details — see How To Write An Example.
