Well, this article describes how I spend my time here (and some other websites) all too well.
Despite the lack of examples, as it's an established term referring to some online users, I don't see why we should cut this right away. Pages for some other online personas don't even have examples listed.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportJust FYI: Sometimes a lurker stays a lurker because every time they've attempted to de-lurk and join in on the discussion, they've been burned out by the board denizens. So they eventually get to the point where they just don't bother de-lurking anywhere. If you can't tell already, I'm very much describing myself here, and I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one who could lay claim to that discussion. I feel safe here right now, but there's always a little part of me that wonders when I'll slip up and be chased away from this site. But this site is a definite exception to my rule of not getting involved with any of the sites I visit.
I was born, then grew up, had some awkward, sad, happy, and worrisome moments, and now here I exist, a starfish in a sea of guppies.
