The funny thing is, Robin Hood is a hero to those of a more socialist bent, because he steals from the rich to give to the poor. Fridge Logic: He's steals from tax collectors! You know, the government? Those guys who the political left thinks should be taking more? He's a tax rebel!

Erm, being socialist doesn't mean you automatically support any form of taxation no matter how oppressive, it means (broadly) that you support equal distribution of resources amongst everyone.
Robin Hood stole from the oppressive elite who were collecting taxes from the poor to fund their own lavish lifestyles and pointless wars, therefore his actions were, from a socialist point of view, generally good.
