The Two Nickels trope is now common enough to coexist with, but not overwrite, the original. I think both should just be mentioned (which they already are) and it's just a variation, but they are the same trope, "If I had a nickel".

What is the term? Memetic Mutation? Maybe Memetic Evolution? Tropes, like Language, are alive, and evolve. This one sprung a variation. Mutation.

This one simply finishes, "I'd have two, which is weird it [event] happened twice." but it doesn't negate the original.
