This was a standard trick for heroes with Super-Speed powers in the 1960s. Both Superman and the Flash sometimes protected their secret identities by moving (and changing clothes) so quickly that they appeared to be having conversations with their Alter Egos. Additionally, Superman often used his "super-ventriloquism" that allowed him to do something very similar.
