Critic: (Negatively reviews a well-loved work)
Angry fans: “So, you have chosen... death...”
Hint: Falling into pits kills youA good portion of the main page is being treated like a decrowning page. Obviously not a popular page, but it should be fixed nontheless.
doin' a thingI actually pointed out that Watchmojo's Top 10 Hated X is NOT based on how much they personally hated the content ,but based on how OTHER people hate them. They always add a disclaimer in these types of videos saying "We're not saying we hate these". And even without the disclaimer everyone in the comment section ***king ignores when they got to Gravity Falls in their Top 10 Hated Disney Animated Shows, they said "Some say..." heavily implying that it's based on other opinions. Who knows? Maybe the Watchmojo staff actually likes the show. In conclusion: Actually watch the ***king video before posting.
Am I the only one who loves how the guy who added the Thomas the Tank Engine review in the Nostalgia Critic's section did it just to complain? While it does deserve a mention, this person sounds biased and is one of those editors that is using TV Tropes to Complain about Shows you Don't like.
"All of a sudden the game is up, and you see the reviewer for who they really are — a vile piece of ludicrously insensitive vomit-caked negativity who only exists to blow holes in otherwise good games, a bad writer complaining about others' bad writing."
Uhhh... guys. Whoa. I think we need to calm down.
I'm a Troper!!!Bit of personal experience, I stopped reading all movie reviews in magazines after encountering a review of The Matrix Reloaded that summarized the movie as follows: "Neo and his friend agent Smith try to stop an alien invasion."
At what point does "No Such Thing As Notability" cut off? I'm specifically thinking of "Movie Night". Jonathan Paula is more known as the producer of Is It A Good Idea to Microwave This, but his solo movie review show has gotten a *lot* of angry comments in the most recent season, half for panning movies that are popular because of so-called "art school nonsense" (like drastically dropping scores of movies that are supposed to be simple fun and entertainment because they don't have sweeping operatic plots), half for borderline critical research failure, like calling The Hobbit a "popcorn action flick" despite there being no indication or advertisement to make it look like that. He also tends to use a lot of phrases like "You look past these flaws" which give a sense of "My opinion is more valid then yours because I studied film in college."
Hide / Show RepliesIt doesn't have a cut-off; feel free to add the example.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. This is a meta-example, and I am sure we don't really allow these. In case we do, I am reposting it here.
- A perfect example can be found on this very site that you're browsing. Yes, that's right, an entire page dedicated to misconstruing arguments, ignoring context, and meticulously deconstructing obvious tongue-in-cheek jokes. Dethroning Moment of Suck: Zero Punctuation has had so many edit wars, with complaints over the most finicky things (you can take a gander at its history for plenty of examples) it trumps even Yahtzee in nitpickiness. Go see the sights of complaints over complaints of complaints on the discussion without worry of rabble-rousing, as the entire article has since been locked long ago for obvious reasons, and frequently suggested to simply be archived or nuked altogether.
I assumed the Nostalgia Critic's Let's Play of The Simpsons was VERY widely hated by NC's fanbase. Even if the Retsupurae of it has its critics, was it really for panning the LP in of itself?
