Given how common this trope is, and how often it's parodied, lampshaded, deconstructed, and reconstructed, does this qualify for Undead Horse Trope status?

Anybody else think the current situation with Syria (circa Late Summer/Early Fall 2013) counts as a macro scale example, US as the Bad Cop, Russia as the Good Cop? I mean, we've even got the Good Cop saying, in effect, "please cooperate, I don't think I can control my friend here much longer".

Is this a valid example for a prospective Real Life example folder, or am I just too troped and seeing them in real life now?

Well, could a character with Split Personality (or pretending to have Split Personality) potentially succeeds in pulling the good cop bad cop trick all by him/herself?

A third cop is brought in and acts all gross.

That's "Ugly Cop".

That...doesn't really happen in any media I can think of, at least, it's not part of any trope formula. I can see you're trying to stretch it into The Good The Bad And The Ugly, but not everything needs to be a Shout-Out.
