Shouldn't there be a special category for the Biggest Name Fan of all time, Forrest J. Ackerman? I mean, he's pretty much one of the main originators of what we call fandom today...

I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.

In the list of big name fans of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, are you sure that everyone quoted there is a fan? I mean, even Barack Obama?

I know that Weird Al, Gabe Newell and Seth Green are fans of Mlp Fim, but I'm highly skeptical about the other people listed there. Unless someone comes up with proof of it, maybe we should delete most of those names.

We should delete most of those names because, like muninn says below, a Big Name Fan is someone who's famous for their fan activities, not a famous person who's a fan.

  • Lawrence Miles, a Doctor Who fan who wrote some spin-off novels in the 90s, failed to get a writing job on the revived series. However, he still has a devoted following of "fans" who read the poorly-thought-out and transparently bitter screeds he publishes after every new episode.

I'm not exactly a fan of Mad Larry, but maybe that entry could be a bit less hostile? And "failed to get a writing job on the revived series" implies he was ever up for one, or expected to be. He wasn't, and I would imagine he didn't, because he's simply not a TV writer. If you're judging his worth as a Doctor Who creator based on that, you have to do the same for Kate Orman, which is clearly not right.

removed this, since all of the other examples were people who became big-names because of the fan things they did, not people who got big-name elsewhere before admitting that they were fans of something

removed an example because the inclusion of rooster Teeth productions voices in Halo 3 was because they won a charity auction, not becuase of Red vs blue.
