Honestly, I am not convinced it should have been moved from the Evolutionary Levels page as its is just a long discussion on evolutionary levels. I removed some word cruft from it though. Good enough?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI though I undertand this trope...browsed the examples, and not quite sure now.
What exactly this trope is about? Laconic claims it's simply "when people call power-up transformation an evolution" (a little to narrow, IMO). Some examples, like Gundam's and Gao Gai Gar, however read more like "an evolution that give you super power" (even if they look the same).
Edited by Kuruni Hide / Show RepliesIt's mostly about transformations being called evolution. One of the common forms of transformation involves getting a superpower.
Fight smart, not fair.So should I remove the "an evolution that give you super power" but doesn't change your look examples?
Another thing is Doomsday example, from the comic (his entry is Zero Context Example, but lets fix it later) he's more of "evolution as super power". While he can adapt to situation (growing bones as earplugs to protect from sonic wave, for example), his overall shape doesn't change.
I think there's a specific trope for that aspect. I wanna say it's Adaptive Ability.

Would someone care to condense and organize the digimon example?
