Moving this one here...

  • Whole-Plot Reference:
    • This movie owes so much to Aliens:
      • Nightmare opening scene, ending with something bursting through the dreamer's skin. The character even wakes up to speak with someone on a videophone.
      • "Mentally compromised" main character facing old demons.
      • Prominent android character.
      • The shot of the assimilated Enterprise corridor is just like that of the infested station.
      • Character discovered hiding in crawlways.
      • Final showdown against an alien "queen".
      • "Assimilate this!"? If that's not an Aliens Shout-Out, I don't know what is.
        • Which of course leads us to a Missed Moment of Awesome: "Get away from her, you BITCH!" directed at the Queen. Depending on how you want to play it, it could be Picard protecting Lily, or either Picard or Data protecting each other.
    • Not to mention Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, complete with a popular TV series villain returning for vengeance, a Heroic Sacrifice (of sorts) by The Spock, and Moby-Dick quotes.
    • Not to mention that movie were the cyborgs are sent back in time to "terminate" a future influential figure and leader.

Some of the points might work as Shout-Out entries, but a Whole-Plot Reference is a full-on, deliberate retelling of a specific story (a sitcom Christmas Episode that reworks A Christmas Carol is a common example).
