hollygoolightly deleted the Foil entry which compares Elnor and Narissa; the Manchild entry for Elnor; Flat Character and The Nose Knows for Narissa; Manchild and O.O.C. Is Serious Business entries for Narek. I would like to restore them because I think these examples are valid, but since s/he will simply remove them again if I do, I have to ask others if they agree with me or hollygoolightly.
Hide / Show RepliesIt looks like the discussion is being carried out on the main page. In part because some of the character entries got duplicated there.
siberia82, as I mentioned in the explanation, I don't think most of these tropes fit - foil is getting discussed on the main discussion page, where I have also posted some arguments why I don't think Manchild fits for Elnor or Narek. Flat Character for Narissa is totally debatable to be put in again, but I would change the text, since she now got some development in "Broken Pieces", but "The Nose Knows" doesn't work because Narissa said Narek smelled of Soji because she wanted to rile him up, not because she could actually smell something. Finally O.O.C. Is Serious Business doesn't work for Narek, because for *him* the behaviour he displays isn't OOC, it's - allegedly - OOC for Romulans in general, and that would require another trope that shows Narek is different from other Romulans because he shows weakness/emotions or however you want to call it.
For The Nose Knows, Romulans are related to Vulcans, so Narissa would have a superior olfactory sense.
Yes, but the situation wasn't about Narek actually smelling, she was goading him because she felt he was getting too involved with Soji, and was trying to get him back on track.
Just an update. I've removed Foil again per the discussion on the main page. If you disagree, please see that discussion and contribute.
I've been seeing parallels between the Zhat Vash operatives and contemporary followers of ISIS and White Supremacists/alt-right extremists. They use extreme interpretations of religious texts to justify their acts like the Zhat Vash does.
Edited by cluosborneCan we move Picard and Seven of Nine onto the TNG and Voyager character pages? It's not like Picard is an Alternate Continuity or anything.
Hide / Show RepliesI don't think there's a need to. It's not unusual for characters who appear across multiple series to have entries on the character page for each show in addition to their "main" character page.
The trope entry on Picard "Took a Level in Jerkass". Does he really have a lack of empathy for Raffi? I thought that smile was more knowing, like "he wanted her to stay and I know she now will" not "silly" something drinking herself to death. It seemed to me that he knows her well enough that she won't drink herself to death and that staying with the group means that she's going to clean up her act.
